To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, a quasi-experiment was conducted in a university with a two-group pretest posttest design to assess participants' learning achievement, critical thinking and learning satisfaction. One class with 37 students was the experimental group learning with the MDRE learning approach, whereas the other class with 37 students was the control group learning with the conventional technology-based learning approach. Analysis of covariance was performed to evaluate the effect of the intervention on the target outcomes. However, their ability to shield hazards depends on design, material, proper fit, and environmental conditions. As a result, not all respirators may be adequate for all scenarios. Additionally, factors including user comfort, ease of use, and cost contribute to respirator effectiveness. Therefore, a careful consideration of these parameters is essential for ensuring respiratory protection for those working in the healthcare industry. Here respirator design and material characteristics are reviewed, as well as properties of airborne hazards and potential filtration mechanisms, regulatory standards of governmental agencies, respirator efficacy in the clinical setting, attitude of healthcare personnel toward respiratory protection, and environmental and economic considerations of respirator manufacturing and distribution.
Computational brain network modeling using The Virtual Brain (TVB) simulation platform acts synergistically with machine learning (ML) and multi-modal neuroimaging to reveal mechanisms and improve diagnostics in Alzheimer's disease (AD).
We enhance large-scale whole-brain simulation in TVB with a cause-and-effect model linking local amyloid beta (Aβ) positron emission tomography (PET) with altered excitability. We use PET and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data from 33 participants of the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI3) combined with frequency compositions of TVB-simulated local field potentials (LFP) for ML classification.
The combination of empirical neuroimaging features and simulated LFPs significantly outperformed the classification accuracy of empirical data alone by about 10% (weighted F1-score empirical 64.34% vs. combined 74.28%). Informative features showed high biological plausibility regarding the AD-typical spatial distribution.

ZnT8 autoantibody positivity (ZnT8+) is associated with risk for type 1 diabetes and with metabolic complications in adults. Our aim was to assess prevalence of ZnT8+in the Treatment of T2D in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) cohort and describe associated phenotypic outcomes.
TODAY participants were 13.98±2.03years with a confirmed diagnosis of T2D, BMI percentile of 97.69±3.32 (64% female), and GAD- and IA2- at baseline. ZnT8 autoantibodies were measured at baseline and end of study.
3 of 687 participants (0.29%) were ZnT8+and there was one conversion (0.15%) from ZnT8- to ZnT8+during the study. ZnT8A+individuals had higher HbA1c, HDL and LDL cholesterol, and IL-1β concentrations, and lower BMI, IL-6, and triglyceride concentrations compared to the TODAY cohort and ZnT8A- individuals. They also had higher insulin sensitivity with lower insulin secretion and disposition index, metabolically resembling T1D. All ZnT8+participants experienced loss of glycemic control on randomized treatment, but exhibited lower rates of diabetic complications than other groups.
Given the low rate of complications in ZnT8+individuals, ZnT8 likely does not impact the clinical course of the disease in this population.

The economic crisis in Lebanon, a middle-income eastern Mediterranean country, has been threatening the health of the local population. This review will look at the impact of the economic crisis and COVID-19 on health and healthcare in the country, discussing food insecurity and water shortages, and the hospital crisis for what concerns medications, electricity shortages and workforce issues.
Peer Reviewed Literature produced between 2015 and 2021, indexed in Pubmed, Scopus and Google Scholar was used to compile this short report. News and governmental reports, alongside reports of NGOs like
were also collected; these were analysed for the production of this short report.
The challenges and public health consequences caused by the economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic in Lebanon were identified and commented upon. From food insecurity and water shortages, to the Beirut port explosion and the 2021 lack of fuel and electricity, it was found that the health and well-being of the Lebanese population is currently being threatened from many points of view. With food inflation rates rapidly escalating in 2020 and peaking at 441% in October, new-born and infant milk being non-existent and 20hour power cuts daily, the situation in Lebanon does not seem to be improving. The country needs to receive international help to relief the population from these synergetic crises.
Long-term economic reforms with an emphasis on employment should be at the forefront of the government's priority list. International help should also be provided to prevent disasters like food insecurity and electricity shortages from posing threats to the lives and the wellbeing of the people in Lebanon again.

Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study of 6,628 pregnant members of Kaiser Permanente Northern California who responded to a survey between 22 June and 30 September 2020. The survey included questions about depression (Patient Health Questionnaire) and anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) symptoms and COVID-19-related health and healthcare (e.g., had COVID-19) and economic (e.g., food insecurity) factors. Results Over one third of individuals reported depression (25% mild, 8% moderate, 3% severe) or anxiety (22% mild, 8% moderate, 5% severe) symptoms. In multivariable analyses, COVID-19 during pregnancy, employment with greater risk of COVID-19, distress over changes in prenatal care, job loss, changes in childcare and food insecurity were associated with greater odds of prenatal depression or anxiety. Conclusion Findings suggest the COVID-19 pandemic may have severe mental health repercussions for pregnant individuals. Support services for pregnant individuals experiencing these COVID-19-related factors and monitoring of those who had moderate/severe prenatal depression and anxiety symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic is warranted.In August 2020, pharmacists were authorized to prescribe contraceptives in Minnesota outside of a collaborative practice agreement. To practice under this new authorization, pharmacists must complete formal contraceptive prescribing training and follow guidelines which include restrictions on patient's age and appropriate screening and assessment requirements. Allowing pharmacists to prescribe contraceptives has the potential to extend contraceptive access, decrease overall health care costs, and improve outcomes. However, barriers to the expansion of contraceptive prescribing by pharmacists may prevent widespread adoption of this practice in Minnesota. A key concern among pharmacists is a lack of reimbursement for providing this service. Other states adopting contraceptive prescribing by pharmacists which have not paid for this service have reported limited implementation and discontinuation of this service. To improve contraceptive access to Minnesotans, policymakers should consider expanding provider status to pharmacists and providing reimbursement to pharmacists for contraceptive services.Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is the most prevalent type of dementia and has a high prevalence in the aging population. Due to the requirements for care, it is valuable for members of the healthcare system to be knowledgeable about AD and its treatment. Community pharmacists are particularly valuable in assisting in AD care because of their accessibility to the general public and they are a source for dispensing AD medications. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of knowledge of AD among Ohio community pharmacists based on regional practice settings using the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS). A standardized, 30-question assessment tool known as the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale exists to measure the level of knowledge of AD among a given population. Studies on AD knowledge have been conducted using this tool, and the use of this scale identifies major misconceptions about AD that could be addressed in education initiatives for both the general public and for health care professionals. This study implemented this tool to compare the knowledge of community pharmacists that serve rural areas to those that serve urban areas.
