Situations like the COVID-19 pandemic urgently require the implementation of eHealth for vulnerable patient populations. selleck Here we quantitatively evaluate use and potential of modern information and communication technology (ICT) in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. We conducted a structured, questionnaire-based, cross-sectional study that was addressed to patients after kidney, liver, pancreas, or combined transplantation. We focused on sociodemographic data, present use of digital technologies in daily life and for health reasons, patients' eHealth literacy, and their overall attitude towards eHealth. A total of 234 patients completed the questionnaire. Most of the patients (90%) have a web-enabled computer, 78.2% have a smartphone, and 71.8% regularly search the internet for health-related information. Sixty-eight percent would like to receive discharge summaries online, and 54% would like to chat online with their physicians. Even though ICT use in daily life was age-related, no significant difference could be shown for health reasons or the type of transplanted organ. Modern ICT use is predominantly accepted for health reasons by SOT recipients. Regardless of the transplanted organ, a deeper integration of eHealth has potential for improving cross-sectoral care. To successfully implement eHealth technologies in cross-sectoral care future research should include online physician-patient communication, data security, data safety, and the aspects of quality and safety of care.Phosphorus-solubilizing microorganisms is a microbial fertilizer with broad application potential. In this study, 7 endophytic phosphate solubilizing bacteria were screened out from Chinese fir, and were characterized for plant growth-promoting traits. Based on morphological and 16S rRNA sequence analysis, the endophytes were distributed into 5 genera of which belong to Pseudomonas, Burkholderia, Paraburkholderia, Novosphingobium, and Ochrobactrum. HRP2, SSP2 and JRP22 were selected based on their plant growth-promoting traits for evaluation of Chinese fir growth enhancement. The growth parameters of Chinese fir seedlings after inoculation were significantly greater than those of the uninoculated control group. The results showed that PSBs HRP2, SSP2 and JRP22 increased plant height (up to 1.26 times), stem diameter (up to 40.69%) and the biomass of roots, stems and leaves (up to 21.28%, 29.09% and 20.78%) compared to the control. Total N (TN), total P (TP), total K (TK), Mg and Fe contents in leaf were positively affected by PSBs while showed a significant relationship with strain and dilution ratio. The content of TN, TP, TK, available phosphorus (AP) and available potassium (AK) in the soil increased by 0.23-1.12 mg g-1, 0.14-0.26 mg g-1, 0.33-1.92 mg g-1, 5.31-20.56 mg kg-1, 15.37-54.68 mg kg-1, respectively. Treatment with both HRP2, SSP2 and JRP22 increased leaf and root biomass as well as their N, P, K uptake by affecting soil urease and acid phosphatase activities, and the content of available nutrients in soil. In conclusion, PSB could be used as biological agents instead of chemical fertilizers for agroforestry production to reduce environmental pollution and increase the yield of Chinese fir. There is still no established therapeutic solution for postoperative Dry Eye Syndrome (DES) after cataract surgery, in spite of progress in surgical techniques. Diquafosol tetrasodium (DQS), a recently developed ophthalmic solution, has been reported to be effective in DES, but no study evaluated post-cataract surgery lipid layer thickness (LLT) changes in healthy patients who used DQS postoperatively. We randomly divided participants into two groups; the DQS group was treated six times daily with DQS after cataract surgery, and the sodium hyaluronate (HA) group was treated with HA in the same way. Throughout study period, the DQS group showed significantly higher tear break up time (TBUT) and LLT than HA group. In multivariate analysis, better preoperative TBUT, Schirmer's I test score, ocular surface disease index (OSDI) score, and LLT were significantly associated with improved postoperative outcomes in each parameter. Also, the postoperative use of DQS served as an independent parameter of better TBUT, OSDI score, and LLT in postoperative 15 weeks. Treatment with 3% DQS following cataract surgery showed more improvement in TBUT and LLT, compared with 0.1% HA. Improving TBUT and LLT preoperatively and using 3% DQS postoperatively, could be a reliable choice for managing DES after cataract surgery.Trial Registration ISRCTN registry with ISRCTN 18755487.Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) is a common condition reported however inconclusively among pregnancies after assisted conception. The study objective was thus to explore whether NVP is associated to mode of conception or other in vitro fertilization (IVF)-related variables. This nested matched cohort study, originating from the BASIC-project, was conducted at the Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden between 2010 and 2016. IVF pregnancies (n = 210) and age and parity-matched women with spontaneous pregnancies (n = 420) comprised the study sample. The study outcome was self-reported NVP at gestational week 17. IVF treatment and pregnancy data were obtained after scrutinization of the medical records. NVP with or without medications was not associated with mode of conception (chi-square test, p = 0.889), even after adjusting for potential confounders. In a subgroup analysis among IVF pregnancies, NVP without medication was more frequently seen in the group who received cleavage stage embryos vs blastocysts (chi-square test, p = 0.019), exhibiting a marginally significant but strongly increased effect even after adjustment [crude RRR 3.82 (95% CI 1.23-11.92) and adjusted RRR 3.42 (95% CI 0.96-12.11)]. No difference in the rate of NVP with or without medication between women that underwent fresh and frozen/thawed embryo transfers as well as IVF or ICSI was observed. Conception through IVF is not associated with NVP. Transfer of a blastocyst may decrease the risk of developing NVP and further, large-scale prospective studies are required to validate this finding.
