Vitamins are the micronutrients required for boosting the immune system and managing any future infection. Vitamins are involved in neurogenesis, a defense mechanism working in neurons, metabolic reactions, neuronal survival, and neuronal transmission. Their deficiency leads to abnormal functions in the brain like oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, accumulation of proteins (synuclein, Aβ plaques), neurodegeneration, and excitotoxicity.
In this review, we have compiled various reports collected from PubMed, Scholar Google, Research gate, and Science direct. 5-AZA-dC The findings were evaluated, compiled, and represented in this manuscript.
The deficiency of vitamins in the body causes various neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and depression. We have discussed the role of vitamins in neurological disorders and the normal human body. Depression is linked to a deficiency of vitamin-C and vitamin B. In the case of Alzheimer's disease, there is a lacke, vitamin-D deficiency leads to a decrease in the level of dopamine, and imbalance in vitamin D leads to accumulation of synuclein. In MS, Vitamin-C and Vitamin-D deficiency causes demyelination of neurons. In Huntington's disease, vitamin- C deficiency decreases the antioxidant level, enhances oxidative stress, and disrupts the glucose cycle. Vitamin B5 deficiency in Huntington's disease disrupts the synthesis of acetylcholine and hormones in the brain.Heterocyclic compounds offer an enormous area for new lead molecules for drug discovery. Till today, efforts are being continuously made to find appropriate treatment for the management of the deadly disease of cancer. Amongst the large number of heterocycles that are found in nature, heterocycles having oxygen obtained noteworthy attention due to their distinctive and pharmacological activities.'Pyran' is one of the most significant non-aromatic, six-membered ring composed of one oxygen atom and five carbon atoms. It is considered a privileged structure since pyran and its related derivatives exhibit a wide spectrum of biological activities. Pyran derivatives are found to have excellent anti-cancer properties against various types of cancer. The present review focussed on the current advances in different types of pyran-based derivatives as anti-cancer agents. Various in-vitro (cell based testing), in-vivo (animal based testing) models as well as molecular docking along with results are also covered. A subsection describing briefly natural pyran containing anticancer compounds is also incorporated in the review.Phytochemicals are being used for thousands of years to prevent dreadful malignancy. Side effects of existing allopathic treatment have also initiated intense research in the field of bioactive phytochemicals. Gallic acid, a natural polyphenolic compound, exists freely as well as in polymeric forms. The anti-cancer properties of gallic acid are indomitable by a variety of cellular pathways such as induction of programmed cell death, cell cycle apprehension, reticence of vasculature and tumor migration, and inflammation. Furthermore, gallic acid is found to show synergism with other existing chemotherapeutic drugs. Therefore, the antineoplastic role of gallic acid suggests its promising therapeutic candidature in the near future. The present review describes all these aspects of gallic acid at a single platform. In addition nanotechnology-mediated approaches are also discussed to enhance bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy.Artificial intelligence technology is emerging as a promising entity in cardiovascular medicine, potentially improving diagnosis and patient care. In this article, we review the literature on artificial intelligence and its utility in cardiology. We provide a detailed description of concepts of artificial intelligence tools like machine learning, deep learning, and cognitive computing. This review discusses the current evidence, application, prospects, and limitations of artificial intelligence in cardiology.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the surveillance of transmitted drug resistance mutations (TDRMs) to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of HIV treatment programs.
Our aim was to determine the TDRMs and evaluate the distribution of HIV-1 subtypes using and compared next-generation sequencing (NGS) and Sanger-based sequencing (SBS) in a cohort of 44 antiretroviral treatment-naïve patients.
All samples that were referred to the microbiology laboratory for HIV drug resistance analysis between December 2016 and February 2018 were included in the study. After exclusions, 44 treatment-naive adult patients with a viral load of >1000 copies/mL were analyzed. DNA sequencing for reverse transcriptase and protease regions was performed using both DeepChek ABL single round kit and Sanger-based ViroSeq HIV-1 Genotyping System. The mutations and HIV-1 subtypes were analyzed using the Stanford HIVdb version 8.6.1 Genotypic Resistance software, and TDRMs were assessed using the WHO surveillanc5R, were detected in HIV-1 subtype B isolates.
The high diversity of protease site TDRMs in the minority HIV-1 variants and prevalence of CRFs were remarkable in this study. All minority HIV-1 variants were missed by conventional sequencing. TDRM prevalence among minority variants appears to be decreasing over time at our center.

Low vitamin D levels are associated with the incidence of hypertension, cardiac remodeling, and chronic congestive heart failure. Low vitamin D levels also influence renal disease progression and albuminuria deterioration. Moreover, recent research indicates that vitamin D deficiency can be a potential risk factor for coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection and poorer outcomes. Data are inconclusive as to whether supplementation with vitamin D agents reduces CV disease risk or COVID-19 severity. Conversely, in patients with kidney disease, vitamin D supplementation is associated with improved kidney function and albuminuria. This narrative review considers recent data on the effects of vitamin D on the CV and renal system, as well as its possible role regarding COVID-19 complications.
Cancer, a malignant tumor, is caused by the failure of the mechanism that controls cell growth and proliferation. Late clinical symptoms often manifest as lumps, pain, ulcers, and bleeding. Systemic symptoms include weight loss, fatigue, and loss of appetite. It is a major disease that threatens human life and health. How to treat cancer is a long-standing problem that needs to be overcome in the history of medicine.
Traditional tumor treatment methods are poorly targeted, and the side effects of treatment seriously damage the physical and mental health of patients. In recent years, with the advancement of medical science and technology, the research on gene combined with mesenchymal stem cells to treat tumors has been intensified. Mesenchymal stem cells carry genes to target cancer cells, which can achieve better therapeutic effects.
In the text, we systematically review the cancer treatment evolution from traditional methods to novel approaches that include immunotherapy, nanotherapy, stem cell theapy, and gene therapy. We provide the latest review of the application status, clinical trials and development prospects of mesenchymal stem cells and gene therapy for cancer, as well as their integration in cancer treatment. Mesenchymal stem cells are effective carriers carrying genes and provide new clinical ideas for tumor treatment.
This review focuses on the current status, application prospects and challenges of mesenchymal stem cell combined gene therapy for cancer, and provides new ideas for clinical research.

Warfarin is primarily metabolized by cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) enzyme, which is encoded by the CYP2C9 gene. CYP2C9*2 and CYP2C9*3 variants significantly influence warfarin metabolism and subsequently the required dose of warfarin.
The current retrospective study was aimed to determine the influence of CYP2C9 variants on warfarin metabolic ratio (MR, warfarin/7-hydroxy warfarin) and warfarin maintenance therapy in 210 patients (mean age 44.6±11.6 (SD) years; male to female ratio 81129).
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detector was used to measure plasma concentrations of warfarin and 7-hydroxy warfarin. Plasma samples were collected 12 h after the previous dose of warfarin was administered. CYP2C9 variants (rs1799853 and rs1057910) were identified using real-time polymerase chain reaction allele-discrimination method.
The mean daily maintenance dose of warfarin was 4.6±1.8 (SD) mg. The mean plasma warfarin and 7-hydroxy warfarin concentrations were 3.7±1.6 (SD) μg/mL and 1.1±0.enotype-guided dosing of warfarin in South Indian population.
Intrinsic rhythms in host and cancer cells play an imperative role in tumorigenesis and anticancer therapy. Circadian medicine in cancer is principally reliant on the control of growth and development of cancer cells or tissues by targeting the molecular clock and implementing time-of-day-based anticancer treatments for therapeutic improvements. In recent years, based on extensive high-throughput studies, we witnessed the arrival of several drugs and drug-like compounds that can modulate circadian timekeeping for therapeutic gain in cancer management.
This perspective article intends to illustrate the current trends in circadian medicine in cancer, focusing on clock-modulating pharmacological compounds and circadian regulation of anticancer drug metabolism and efficacy. Scope and Approach Considering the critical roles of the circadian clock in metabolism, cell signaling, and apoptosis, chronopharmacology research is exceedingly enlightening for understanding cancer biology and improving anticancer therap.
The concept of recovery is commonly described as multifaceted and contested in the field of mental health and substance abuse. The aim of this study is to explore how understandings of recovery and recovery orientation of services are developed through daily practices and collaboration between service users and professionals.
Eight pairs of participants were interviewed together, in accordance with the dyadic interview method. The dyads/pairs consisted of service users and professional helpers. A collaborative hermeneutic-phenomenological analysis was used to analyse data.
Data were analysed into three overarching and entangled themes, exploring how recovery-oriented collaboration and knowledge encompasses (a) recovery as relational processes. These processes are entangled with (b) recovery as situated in time and place. Furthermore, relational processes and dimensions of time and place are situated in and supported or hindered by (c) recovery orientation as part of the municipal policies, understood as the regulations, frameworks and decisions guiding mental health and substance abuse services in the municipality.
