4% (N = 3542) did the screening test. While there were no statistically significant differences between the two conditions in terms of acceptance and participation, enhanced active choice did increase acceptance among men by 4.6 percentage points, which translated to a significant increase in participation of 3.4 percentage points. We conclude that enhanced active choice can improve male screening participation. Given the higher risk of CRC in men, as well as their lower participation screening, we believe this to be an important finding.Chemical engineering is being rapidly transformed by the tools of data science. On the horizon, artificial intelligence (AI) applications will impact a huge swath of our work, ranging from the discovery and design of new molecules to operations and manufacturing and many areas in between. Early adoption of data science, machine learning, and early examples of AI in chemical engineering has been rich with examples of molecular data science-the application tools for molecular discovery and property optimization at the atomic scale. We summarize key advances in this nascent subfield while introducing molecular data science for a broad chemical engineering readership. We introduce the field through the concept of a molecular data science life cycle and discuss relevant aspects of five distinct phases of this process creation of curated data sets, molecular representations, data-driven property prediction, generation of new molecules, and feasibility and synthesizability considerations.
To determine the prevalence and severity of manual wheelchair rear wheel misalignment in community-dwelling manual wheelchair users and estimate the associated increases in rolling resistance (RR) and risk of repetitive strain injuries (RSIs).
Data were collected in an outpatient rehabilitation clinic, a university research laboratory, and at adaptive sporting events in the United States. Two hundred active, self-propelling manual wheelchair users were recruited. Angular misalignment (referred to as toe angle) while the wheelchair was loaded with the user, and the difference between the maximum and minimum toe angle (referred to as slop) with the wheelchair unloaded.
Average results for toe angle and slop (movement in the rear wheels) were 0.92 and 0.61 degrees, respectively. Using a lab-based testing method, we quantified the impact of increased RR forces due to misalignment in increased RR forces. Our results indicate that the average toe angle while under load and slop, without loading, measured in tr having their chair repaired when misalignment occurs.
We found that rear-wheel misalignment was prevalent and severe enough that it may increase the risk for RSIs and decrease participation. To mitigate this issue, future work should focus on reducing misalignment through improved maintenance interventions and increased manufacturing quality through more stringent standards.Implications for RehabilitationThe work reveals a previously unknown and significant contributor to RR that could have health implications for users who self-propel.Maintenance and repairs should be adjusted to help reduce the impact of misalignment.Our results suggests that WC designers should take additional care to designs wheels and frames to minimize misalignment.Service providers setting up wheelchairs should take additional care to make sure the wheels are aligned.Users should monitor misalignment and prioritize maintaining or having their chair repaired when misalignment occurs.AbstractHarbor seals (Phoca vitulina) live in cold temperate or polar seas and molt annually, renewing their fur over a period of approximately 4 wk. Epidermal processes at this time require a warm skin; therefore, to avoid an excessive energy cost at sea during the molt, harbor seals and many other pinnipeds increase the proportion of time they are hauled out on land. We predicted that metabolic rate during haul-out would be greater during the molt to sustain an elevated skin temperature in order to optimize skin and hair growth. To examine this, we measured post-haul-out oxygen consumption ( V ˙ O 2 ) in captive harbor seals during molt and postmolt periods. We recorded greater V ˙ O 2 of seals while they were molting than when the molt was complete. Post-haul-out V ˙ O 2 increased faster and reached a greater maximum during the first 40 min. Thereafter, V ˙ O 2 decreased but still remained greater, suggesting that while metabolic rate was relatively high throughout haul-outs, it was most pronounced in the first 40 min. Air temperature, estimated heat increment of feeding, and mass also explained 15.5% of V ˙ O 2 variation over 180 min after haul-out, suggesting that the environment, feeding state, and body size influenced the metabolic rate of individual animals. These results show that molting seals have greater metabolic rates when hauled out, especially during the early stages of the haul-out period. As a consequence, human disturbance that changes the haul-out behavior of molting seals will increase their energy costs and potentially extend the duration of the molt.
Clear cell gastric cancer (CCGC) represents an extremely rare variant of adenocarcinoma of the stomach. It can be mistaken for a clear cell metastatic lesion arising from other anatomic parts, especially renal cell carcinoma.
We describe the case of a 66-year-old woman who was operated for a pyloric adenocarcinoma which resulted to be a CCGC at definitive histology. Moreover, we offer a systematic review of the current pertinent literature on CCGC.
Our case represents the 160th example of CCGC. Clear cell aspect is due to the intracytoplasmic accumulation of glycogen in most cases, followed by mucin, lipid or water; the reason of the underlying biochemical process is still unclear. Paralleling other epithelial clear cell malignancies (as ovarian, bladder, urothelial or pancreatic cancers), also CCGC shows a more aggressive clinical behavior over conventional neoplastic counterparts.
Differently from clear cell carcinomas involving other organs, CCGC has been rarely investigated by the literature. Since, compared to non clear cell cancers, this particular phenotype of gastric cancer appears to be associated with poorer prognosis, further studies are needed in order to corroborate its real adverse prognostic significance and standardize the correct management and treatment.

Various analgesic modalities have been used to improve postoperative pain in patients undergoing hip arthroscopy.
To systematically review the literature to compare the efficacy of the fascia iliaca block (FIB) with that of other analgesic modalities after hip arthroscopy in terms of postoperative pain scores and analgesic consumption.
Systematic review.
A systematic review was performed by searching PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Embase up to April 2020 to identify randomized controlled trials that compared postoperative pain and analgesic consumption in patients after hip arthroscopy with FIB versus other pain control modalities. The search phrase used was "hip arthroscopy fascia iliaca randomized." Patients were evaluated based on postoperative pain scores and total postoperative analgesic consumption.
Five studies (3 level 1, 2 level 2) were identified that met inclusion criteria, including 157 patients undergoing hip arthroscopy with FIB (mean age, 38.3 years; 44.6% men) and 159 patients amo demonstrate superiority to other forms of analgesics in the immediate postoperative period. Therefore, it is not recommended as a routine form of pain control for these procedures.

It invites viewers to engage with a digital human character, 'Viv', as she shares her experiences of living with dementia. The experiences that Viv recounts are based on verbatim accounts from in-depth interviews with four women living with dementia. The artwork was designed with the combined aim of generating insights into the lived experience of dementia and establishing conditions under which viewers might cultivate empathy for the character portrayed. Viewers engaging with Viv were invited to complete pre- and post-engagement measures of state empathy alongside an assessment of emotional distance. State empathy was significantly greater after engaging with The Visit, and correspondingly, there was a significant decrease in emotional distance (aversion), suggesting that the aims were met.Patients with autoimmune disorders, multiple comorbidities, poor performance status, advanced age, and infection with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) each represent unique subgroups of patients with cancer to whom little is known of the effects, benefits, and complications of checkpoint inhibitor (CPI) therapy.
