Postnatal steroids (PNS) have been used to prevent bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants but have potential adverse effects on neurodevelopment. These effects might be modulated by their risk of BPD. We aimed to compare patients' neurodevelopment with PNS treatment according to their risk of BPD in a European cohort.
We developed a prediction model for BPD to classify infants born between 24 + 0 and 29 + 6 weeks of gestation in three groups and compared patients' neurological outcome at two years of corrected age using the propensity score (PS) method.
Of 3662 neonates included in the analysis, 901 (24.6%) were diagnosed with BPD. Our prediction model for BPD had an area under the ROC curve of 0.82. In the group with the highest risk of developing BPD, PNS were associated with an increased risk of gross motor impairment OR of 1.95 after IPTW adjustment (95% CI 1.18 to 3.24,
= 0.010). This difference existed regardless of the type of steroid used. However, there was an increased risk of cognitive anomalies for patients treated with dexa/betamethasone that was no longer observed with hydrocortisone.

The outcomes were grouped into four chapters of the International Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision (ICD-10) system (i.e., Chapter II-IV "Neoplasms", "Diseases of the blood", "Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases", and XVIII "Symptoms, signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings"). The data were collected for the city of Toronto, Canada, (2004-2015, 4292 days). Four gaseous air pollutants (carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ground level ozone (O3), and sulfur dioxide (SO2)) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and two calculated air quality health indexes (AQHI) based on Toronto were used. The statistical models were constructed by applying the conditional Poisson regression. The exposure was assessed over a maximum of 15 days (time lags 0-14 days). An analysis was performed with the following strata sex, age, and seasons. Relative risks (RR) and their 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were estimated for an increase in concentration by a one interquartile range (IQR). For the AQHI (composed of NO2, O3, and PM2.5), IQR = 1, the estimations for lag 1 and all patients, are RR = 1.023 (95%CI 1.008, 1.038), 1.026 (1.012, 1.040), 1.013 (1.003, 1.024), and 1.007 (1.003, 1.010) for Chapters II-IV and XVIII, respectively. Two classic deep neural networks-bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) and text-based convolutional neural networks (TextCNN)-are fused into MTL to simultaneously carry out these two tasks. We used our proposed method to conduct a large number of comparative experiments. The experimental comparisons showed that it was superior to other methods on both tasks. Our model yielded values of accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of 0.93, 0.94, and 0.90, and 0.80, 0.82, and 0.78 on the Chinese word segmentation task and the syndrome differentiation task, respectively. Moreover, statistical analyses showed that the accuracies of the non-joint and joint models were both within the 95% confidence interval, with pvalue < 0.05. The experimental comparison showed that our method is superior to prevalent methods on both tasks. The work here can help modernize TCM through intelligent differentiation.Obesity is associated with chronic low back pain (CLBP), but the association between fat distribution and CLBP is unclear. This cross-sectional study evaluated the relationship using the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data. A total of 10,606 adults (average age 45.4, female 57.1%) were included. We estimated the regional fat distribution, waist circumference, and body fat proportion, compared the values in people with and without CLBP, and stratified the estimates by sex and obesity status using a multivariable linear model. There were no statistically significant differences in the average waist circumference between the people with and without CLBP (p = 0.731) and the average fat proportion between those with and without CLBP (p = 0.731). The average regional fat distribution was significantly higher in the people with CLBP than in those without CLBP, in the upper limbs (11.4%, 95% confidence interval [CI] [11.3, 11.5] vs. 11.2%, 95% CI [11.1, 11.3], p < 0.05) and in the lower limbs (31.9%, 95% CI [31.6, 32.2] vs. 31.4%, 95% CI [31.2, 31.6], p < 0.01). More obvious among men, fat distribution in the lower limbs is higher than in people without obesity (p < 0.001). Thereby, this article seeks to use unsupervised learning techniques to stratify PTB risk in Brazil using only socioeconomic data. Through the use of datasets made publicly available by the Federal Government of Brazil, a new dataset was generated with municipality-level socioeconomic data and a PTB occurrence rate. This dataset was processed using various unsupervised learning techniques, such as k-means, principal component analysis (PCA), and density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN). After validation, four clusters with high levels of PTB occurrence were discovered, as well as three with low levels. The clusters with high PTB were comprised mostly of municipalities with lower levels of education, worse quality of public services-such as basic sanitation and garbage collection-and a less white population. The regional distribution of the clusters was also observed, with clusters of high PTB located mostly in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. As uncertainty continues with the advent of various COVID-19 variants, it remains important to consider how the pandemic has impacted pediatric overweight and obesity.Promoting adequate physical activity (PA) such as walking and cycling is essential to cope with the global health challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Much research has been conducted to analyze how the built environment can promote PA, but the results are not consistent. Some scholars found that certain built environments such as green spaces generated positive impacts on PA, while some other studies showed no correlations. We suspected that the built environment should be measured in a deeply holistic nuanced way in order to properly reflect its impact on PA. Therefore, our research adopted an integral urban-analysis comparing three typical neighborhoods in Beijing, China. Our data show that the highest PA occurs in the neighborhood with the lowest density, amount of green space and street connectivity, apparently compensated by its low-rise housing type and high appreciation of the quality of sidewalks and street safety. This indicates that dimensions impacting PA have to be considered in context, and the peoples' perception of the built environment matters.
