Over and above the effects of the injury itself, event centrality conveyed important information for posttraumatic outcomes at 6weeks post-injury. The centrality scale is brief and feasible to administer; future work is needed to determine the predictive utility of event centrality on post-injury outcomes.

The objectives of the study were to identify the seroprevalence of antibodies against Chlamydophila abortus in dromedary camel herds from four districts in eastern Algeria, as well as to estimate the association between seroprevalence and certain factors present at the animal and herd levels. Blood samples were collected from a random sample of animals within each of 82 camel herds. Serum samples were subjected to a C. abortus ELISA test, and association between the presence of antibodies and potential risk factors was estimated. compound library chemical Animal and herd seroprevalence were 2.5 % and 15.8 %, respectively, indicating substantial exposure of camels to C. abortus in the four districts studied. Age, breed, and sex did not influence seroprevalence in tested animals. Based on the univariate analysis, contact with sheep and goats, contact with other camel herds, and histories of abortion were major risk factors for infection. By using multivariate analysis, contact of camels with sheep and goats and with others camel herds, through shared grazing or watering points, were important factors for transmission of chlamydiosis with an odds ratio of 3.3 and 9.4, respectively. At the herd level the introduction of purchased animals was the major risk factor. This baseline information will be highly useful for launching C. abortus control programs in the region and potentially elsewhere.Identification of molecular liabilities and implementation of mitigation strategies are key aspects that need to be considered by pharmaceutical companies developing therapeutic proteins. In the field of monoclonal antibodies, an efficient and streamlined process known as developability assessment is used for the selection of the "fittest" candidate. Other protein modalities, have in most cases only a limited number of possible candidates, requiring a paradigm change to a concept of candidate enabling. The assessment of liabilities at early project phases with the possibility to re-engineer candidates becomes essential for the success of these projects. Each protein possesses a unique stability profile resulting from the interplay of conformational, colloidal, chemical and physical stability attributes. All of these attributes strongly depend on external factors. Conformational and colloidal stability profiles of three non-immunoglobulin domain based proteins, namely Carbonic anhydrase, Ovalbumin and Thyroglobulin, and of two monoclonal antibodies were assessed in dependence of solution pH, ionic strength and varying buffering agents. The impact of screened external factors on proteins' stability attributes varied significantly, indicating presence of molecule specific liabilities. Screening of such a broad space of conditions at early project phases is only feasible using low-material consuming, high-throughput analytical methods as exemplified in this study.Alzheimer's disease is a worldwide health problem and it has attracted extensive attention. Tau protein is an important biomarker in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Herein, we devise a in situ enzyme catalysis generating electron donor photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor for Tau-381 protein. Tau-381 protein aptamer is immobilized onto the surface of AuNPs/MoSe2 nanosheets modified electrode. In the presence of Tau-381 protein, an aptamer-protein duplex is formed. Meanwhile, the Tau-381 antibody and the protein G/AP (protein G labeled with alkaline phosphatase) are captured with the affinity interaction between Tau-381 protein and Tau-381 antibody, Tau-381 antibody and protein G/AP. The electron donor, ascorbic acid, is in situ produced by the catalyzing of ascorbic acid 2-phosphate in the PEC detection solution. As a result, low blank noise and strong photocurrent response are engendered. The photocurrent response is related to the concentration of Tau-381 protein. The detection range of Tau-381 protein is from 0.5 fM to 1.0 nM with detection limit of 0.3 fM. This in situ generating electron donor PEC biosensor can detect various targets by simply alternating antibody, antigen, or aptamer commercially. Thus, this work represents a simple and general sensing protocol.Radon and progeny concentration measurements in various drink samples are intrinsically important for assessing the health risks resulting from daily consumption of these drinks. In this study the comparison between two Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTDs), the CR-39 and the CN-85 has been conducted for the purpose of evaluating the radon concentration, annual effective dose, the rate of exhalation of radon and the effective radium content in thirty-two different samples of soft drink, water, and milk available in the local Iraq markets. The results showed that there are significant differences in the measurement results for the two detectors. The annual effective dose of the investigated samples is still below the limit of International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recommendation in the measurements of both detectors. The 7Li(p,n)7Be reaction, which leads to a soft neutron field, is often chosen as the neutron producing reaction used for accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy (AB-BNCT). This study aims to design a compact beam shaping assembly (BSA) and auxiliary system for a 7Li(p,n)7Be reaction-based neutron source and to evaluate the relationship between the BSA design and the consequent neutron beam quality for further optimization. In this study, five types of moderator shapes for the BSA model were designed. Both the in-air and in-phantom figures of merit were considered to evaluate the performance of the BSA designs. It was found that the BSA with a bi-tapered and air-gapped design could generate a high-intensity epithermal neutron beam, which could be used to treat deep-seated brain tumors within a reasonable time.
