Effectively inhibiting gastric-cancer metastasis and decreasing the recurrence of gastric cancer after surgery are urgent problems. In recent years, abnormal microRNA (miRNA) expression has been found in gastric cancer, and miRNA-17-5p has been found to regulate the occurrence and progression of various cancers. It's necessary to analyze miRNA-17-5p's action mechanism in gastric cancer.

The study intended to investigate (1) miR-17-5p expression in gastric-cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues in clinical patients, (2) to explore the regulatory effects of miR-17-5p on the biological behavior of gastric cancer at the cellular level, by constructing a gastric-cancer cell model that uses overexpressing miR-17-5p, and (3) to discuss preliminarily its action mechanism.

The research team designed a laboratory study.

The study took place at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, China.

Clinical specimens of gastric-cancer tissues and adjacent normal ttion, invasion, and metastasis of gastric-cancer cells, and PTEN protein was its downstream target protein. The study provides a new approach to the treatment of gastric cancer.
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that has a significant negative impact on the lives of women, causing them pain, anxiety, depression, and a decreased quality of life (QoL). Studies have shown that the practice of yoga with provide relief from lower back pain, menopausal symptoms, stress, and depression. Further, they indicate that it may ameliorate the effects of endometriosis.

The study aimed to examine the effect of practicing endometriosis yoga on the stress and QoL of women diagnosed with endometriosis.

This was an AB design study which included 52 women diagnosed with endometriosis.

The research was conducted twice a week online.

Forty-two (42) women participated in the study and were included in the analysis.

The program included eight weeks of conventional therapy, followed by eight weeks of 90-minute endometriosis yoga classes held twice a week. The women served as their own control group. WP1066 Their symptoms were assessed at three time points prior to two months of conservative treatment, after two months of conservative treatment, and following two months of the conservative treatment and yoga intervention. The outcome measures were the Endometriosis Health Profile (EHP-30), a numerical pain rating scale (NPRS), and intensity of bleeding during the last menstrual period.

All outcome measures improved after the women completed the endometriosis yoga intervention. The EHP-30 and NPRS questionnaire scores were lower after the intervention program (P = .001) as was the blood-flow intensity (P = .019).

The practice of endometriosis yoga is recommended for women with endometriosis to reduce levels of pain and stress and to improve QoL.

Undergraduate, professional education in midwifery is essential. Teaching professional knowledge while guiding students to develop positive career values is one of the tasks of midwifery educators. Studies in China have shown that the stronger the ego-identity of students, the stronger their professional identities will be.

The study intended to investigate the occupational self-efficacy and ego-identity of midwifery students, to analyze the correlation between the two characteristics, and to explore the factors influencing their occupational self-efficacy.

The research team designed a cross-sectional survey.

The study took place at Taizhou University in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China.

Participants were 232 full-time, undergraduate, midwifery students at the university. Selection of participants occurred between November 2018 and December 2018.

The cross-sectional survey included a demographic questionnaire, a career self-efficacy questionnaire, and a ego-identity status..

For the students (1) the mean career self-efficacy of the midwifery students was 3.34 ± 0.58, at a moderate level; (2) the mean overall ego-identity score was 47.44 ± 5.92; 189 (81.47%) of students were those who hadn't yet formed a ego-identity (identity-diffusion status). The multiple gradual regression showed that present self-engagement; per-capita, monthly household income; and midwifery as the first choice of major were the main factors affecting the self-efficacy of midwifery students.

The occupational self-efficacy and ego-identity of midwifery students urgently need improvement, and ego-identity has a predictive value for occupational self-efficacy.

Studies show that Tai Chi, a traditional Chinese mind-body exercise, has the potential to improve cognitive and physical function among the elderly. However, debates continue about its effectiveness among persons with dementia (PWD).

This study assessed the effectiveness of Tai Chi in improving cognitive, physical, and emotional function among PWDs.

We conducted a systematic review of research on online databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, Pubmed, and Cochrane Library) published up to April 2021. Relevant randomized clinical trials (RCTs) were reviewed and analyzed. A random-effect model was used to evaluate the pooled mean difference values.

The individuals in the intervention group practiced Tai Chi exercises in addition to their regular care, while the individuals in the control group continued their usual care.

We focus on three outcome measures the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE), Timed Up and Go (TUG), and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) scores.

Seven studies (N = 616) were included in the meta-analysis. Our results show that Tai Chi can improve cognitive function in PWDs (P = .007, SMD = 0.27; 95% CI, 0.08 to 0.47). However, Tai Chi might not improve the TUG (P = .25, SMD = -0.64; 95% CI, -1.74 to 0.46) and GDS (P = .61; SMD = -0.36; 95% CI -2.00 to 1.17) functions.

The results suggest that Tai Chi can help improve cognitive function among PWDs, but it has no physical and emotional benefits as assessed using the TUG and GDS scales, respectively.

Slow transit constipation (STC) has a high incidence worldwide, which not only seriously affects patients' normal lives but also may cause malignant intestinal lesions. Among the limited treatment options for STC, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is considered to be the key to STC treatment in the future.

The study intended to examine the impacts of acupuncture plus acupoint application on MAPK and ERK in STC rats, with the aim of preliminarily exploring the relevant mechanisms for treating STC as well as providing new ideas and means for future clinical treatment.

The research team designed a randomized, controlled animal study.

The study was carried out at department of Department of Rehabilitation, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School of Ningbo University, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China.

The animals were 30 six-to-eight-week-old, Sprague Dawley(SD) rats, half male and half female and weighing a mean of 200 ± 20 g.

The rats were randomly assigned to one of three groups, 10 rats in each group a negatncture plus acupoint application can validly improve the defecation and intestinal motility of STC rats, possibly through inhibiting MAPK and ERK.

Evidence-based nursing (EBN) is a model of care that emphasizes the formation of scientific findings, together with the development of individualized care plans that consider a patient's condition. Few studies have occurred on EBN interventions for patients with intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile duct stones who are in the perioperative period of minimally invasive surgery.

The study intended to investigate the benefits of EBN interventions for patients with intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile duct stones who are in the perioperative period of minimally invasive surgery.

The research team designed a prospective, randomized controlled trial.

The study took place in the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery at Wuhan No.1 Hospital in Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Participants were 72 patients with intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile duct stones who had been admitted to the hospital between April 2019 and September 2021.

Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups, an intervention group, which received a those of the control group (P = .0001). In the intervention group, complications were all significantly lower than those in the control group (P < .05).

For patients with intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile duct stones who are in the perioperative period for minimally invasive surgery, EBN interventions can improve their quality of life, improve their psychological statuses, reduce the occurrence of related complications, and facilitate their recovery.

To investigate the therapeutic effect of phenylephrine combined with goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) in elderly patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty.

From June 2018 to May 2019, a total of 80 patients, age > 70 years, scheduled for total hip arthroplasty at Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital in China were consecutively included in this prospective randomized controlled trial. The patients were divided into 2 groups of 40 patients each by the random number table method. Patients in the control group were given GDFT alone, and patients in the experimental group were given phenylephrine combined with GDFT. The duration of surgery, blood loss, intraoperative urine output, and fluid input were analyzed. Heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), cardiac index (CI) and stroke volume variation (SVV) were compared in the 2 groups at different times before surgery (T0), after induction (T1), before bone cement placement (T2), after bone cement placement (T3) and after surgery (T4). Lactate, oxygenation icontrol group were significantly higher than T0 (P < .05), while MAP and CI were significantly lower than T0 (P < .05). In the experimental group, there was no significant difference in HR, SVV, MAP or CI at any time points compared with those of T0 (P < .05). The oxygenation index in the control group was lower than before surgery (P < .05). There was no significant difference in urine volume or brain oxygen uptake between the 2 groups (P < .05).

Phenylephrine combined with GDFT can be used in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty to reduce fluid input and improve intraoperative hemodynamic stability, to reduce the occurrence of postoperative related complications.
