This study differentiated various living arrangements (ie living with two biological parents, living with one biological parent, living with friends, living in a dorm, and other) and examined its relationship with health-related lifestyles as well as the moderating role of gender differences.
This study used data from the Taiwan Youth Project, a large-scale, longitudinal survey of Taiwanese youths. The data of 2313 sophomore college students who provided full information were analyzed. Regressions were used to examine the association between living arrangements and cigarette smoking, alcohol use, drug use, and physical exercise.
Compared to students living with two parents, students living with one parent reported a higher frequency of current cigarette smoking and alcohol use, and students living with friends/alone reported a higher frequency of current alcohol use. The associations between living arrangements and health-related lifestyle, including cigarette smoking, alcohol use, and exercise, variefrequency of current alcohol use. The associations between living arrangements and health-related lifestyle, including cigarette smoking, alcohol use, and exercise, varied by gender among college students. Conclusions Both living in a dorm and living with two biological parents increase healthy lifestyles among Taiwanese college students.2-dose measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine was recommended for children in Shanghai in November 1996 and incorporated into Shanghai immunization program in December 2008. We described the mumps epidemiology and assessed impact of the 2-dose MMR vaccination in Changning district, Shanghai, 1990-2017. We obtained the MMR vaccination coverage for children born during 1995-2015 and examined the incidence and disease characteristics of mumps during 1990-2017. The 1st dose MMR coverage had maintained above 95% since 1999 birth cohort. The 2nd dose MMR coverage reached above 90% since 2006 birth cohort. A total of 13,388 cases were reported during 1990-2017. The incidence decreased from 315.2 per 100,000 population in 1990 to 8.8 per 100,000 population in 2017. Of the 13,388 cases, 7585 (56.7%) were male and 91.7% were 1-14 years of age and 86.8% were children in kindergartens and students in schools. Compared with 1990-1996, the incidence had a significant decrease in 0-4 and ≥15 years in 1997-2008 and in all age groups in 2009-2017. A later birth cohort was associated with a lower incidence in children covered by MMR vaccination. In Conclusions, the incidence of mumps has dramatically declined with high coverage of 2-dose MMR in Changning district, Shanghai. Children in kindergartens and schools are still the most affected populations. An increase in incidence in adults has not occurred after 20 years of MMR vaccination. Long-term surveillance is needed to fully evaluate the impact of MMR vaccination policy. Objectives Machine learning models predicting treatment outcomes for individual patients may yield high clinical utility. However, few studies tested the utility of easy to acquire and low-cost sociodemographic and clinical data. In previous work, we reported significant predictions still insufficient for immediate clinical use in a sample with broad diagnostic spectrum. We here examined whether predictions will improve in a diagnostically more homogeneous yet large and naturalistic obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) sample. Methods We used sociodemographic and clinical data routinely acquired during CBT treatment of n = 533 OCD subjects in a specialized outpatient clinic. Results Remission was predicted with 65% (p = 0.001) balanced accuracy on unseen data for the best model. Higher OCD symptom severity predicted non-remission, while higher age of onset of first OCD symptoms and higher socioeconomic status predicted remission. For dimensional change, prediction achieved r = 0.31 (p = 0.001) between predicted and actual values. Conclusions The comparison with our previous work suggests that predictions within a diagnostically homogeneous sample, here OCD, are not per se superior to a more diverse sample including several diagnostic groups. Using refined psychological predictors associated with disorder etiology and maintenance or adding further data modalities as neuroimaging or ecological momentary assessments are promising in order to further increase prediction accuracy.Vaccines are highly thermo-sensitive materials whose potency requires a functional cold chain system which is dependent on the ability of health care workers to effectively manage the system toward eliminating vaccine-preventable diseases. This study assessed knowledge and practice of vaccination logistic management systems among primary health care workers in Osun state Nigeria. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study among 180 randomly selected health care workers who took part in a larger study on the design and pretesting of vaccine cold chain (VACOC) coolers. Research instruments were self-administered semi-structured pretested questionnaire that was analyzed using the SPSS version 23.0.The mean age was 36.7 ± 8.9 years, 87 (48.3%) could correctly explain the vaccination logistic management system, 132 (73.3%) had been trained on the system, 129 (71.7%) could assemble the ice packs used in the vaccine career box, 135 (75.0%) could assemble the vaccines, while 145 (80.6%) could assemble the diluents and thermometer. One hundred and fifty-one (83.9%) and 146 (81.1%) were found to have good knowledge and attitude to the management systems, respectively. Spending more than 5 years in profession, being a male, being a Community Health Officer were significant predictors of having a good practice of immunization logistic management system. Some gaps in knowledge, attitude, and practice of vaccination cold chain logistic system still exist among studied respondents, and these should be addressed by stakeholders in immunization programs. We propose a new adaptive threshold detection and enrichment design in which the biomarker threshold is adaptively estimated and updated by optimizing a trade-off between the size of the biomarker positive population and the magnitude of the treatment effect in that population. Enrichment is based on an enrollment criterion that accounts for the uncertainty in estimation of the threshold. Early termination for futility is allowed based on predictive success probability. Valid testing and estimation techniques for the treatment effect overall and inpatient subgroups are studied. Simulations and an example demonstrate advantages of the proposed design over existing designs.Bronchial asthma is a chronic disease which is currently treated using various inhalants. However, the medication adherence with the inhalants is poor due to complex procedure to use them along with frequent dosing. In this paper, we have developed tulobuterol loaded Pluronic® F127-reduced graphene oxide transdermal hydrogel to sustain the release of tulobuterol to manage asthma for days. The synthesis of Pluronic® F127-reduced graphene oxide was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. The transmission electron microscope showed wrinkled flat nano sheets. The hydrogel showed sufficient mechanical properties for topical application and was safe in the skin irritation study (rabbit model). The ex vivo release data demonstrated the ability of reduced graphene oxide to sustain the release of tulobuterol for 72 h, due to strong π-π interaction between drug and graphene oxide. The pharmacokinetic profile in Sprague-Dawley rat model confirmed the potential of tulobuterol-Pluronic® F127-reduced graphene oxide hydrogel to sustain the release of tulobuterol for effective management of asthma.
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme plans to increase the screening interval from 3 to 5 years for women aged 25-49 who test negative for human papillomavirus (HPV). This exploratory cross-sectional online survey tested the impact of different levels of information about the proposed change on acceptability of a longer interval.

Women aged 18-45 (n = 585) were individually randomised to one of three information exposure groups differing in the level of information provided about the screening interval change (1) basic information; (2) basic information with additional detail about timeline of HPV infection; (3) as (2) but with the addition of a diagram. Acceptability of the change (
and
) was assessed post-exposure alongside HPV timeline beliefs. Inflammation activator We used ANOVA and regression analyses to test for between-group differences.

Women in Group 3 had higher scores on the
sub-scale compared with Group 1. Women in Groups 2 and 3 had more accurate timeline beliefs than those in Group 1. There were no between-group differences in
. After adjusting for demographic factors, a higher
score was independently predicted by being in Group 3 compared to Group 1, more accurate HPV timeline beliefs, and previous irregular or non-attendance at screening.

Overall, acceptability of an increased screening interval was moderate, but providing women with information about the safety and rationale for this change may improve acceptability. In particular, communicating the long timeline from HPV exposure to cervical cancer may reassure women about the safety of the proposed changes.

Healthy adults (N = 32) were randomized (11) to receive a single dose of PER.C6-based Sabin-IPV (sIPV, 1535112.5 DU/dose) or conventional Salk-IPV (cIPV, 40832 DU/dose). Reactogenicity was assessed up to 7 days after vaccination, immunogenicity 28 days after vaccination, and safety up to 6 months after vaccination.Solicited adverse events (AEs) were mild to moderate, no changes of concern in vital signs or safety laboratory values were observed, and no severe AEs (SAEs) or vaccine-related unsolicited AEs were reported after vaccination. A trend to more frequent solicited AEs after sIPV than after cIPV administration was observed. Most participants had preexisting neutralizing antibodies against poliovirus types (titer ≥8), which were strongly boosted by sIPV. Post-vaccination geometric mean titers were high (≥12,000) and similar across the two vaccination groups. Only participants with very high preexisting antibody levels did not show a vaccine-induced response, defined in seropositive participants as a 4-fold titer increase. The 10 initially seronegative (titer less then 8) participants (n = 5 in each study group) seroconverted and all participants had seroprotective antibody levels post-vaccination. The antibodies elicited by sIPV neutralized both Sabin and Salk poliovirus strains. In conclusion, the PER.C6®-based sIPV was well tolerated and highly immunogenic in adults with preexisting antibodies to poliovirus.
