Snow White in the Secret Castle
By: Anonymous
I was walking on the warm sand beside the relaxing waters of the ocean, wondering what to do until my final surfing contest tomorrow.
“Maybe I could go to the Museum!” I thought. “Nah, it’s boring. Maybe the Coral Reef! Already been there twice today. Or maybe…” I continued. I was running out of ideas. The only thing I could do is just walk around the town and maybe find new places to explore. I put on my shoes, and strolled to the local ice-cream store, the Surf Shop, and The Beach Gear. I pretty much visited every store along the beach, except the place I’ve always wanted to explore, the Neviya Theater.
The Neviya Theater was closed decades ago. I was strictly told not to go, or even think about going in there. There were countless stories that the theater was haunted by Neviya’s brother. He was there to get revenge on the people who followed Neviya and not him. I wanted to explore and find out if the stories were true. When I got to the Neviya Theater, I slowly opened the old rusty door. The place was filled with cobwebs and dust. Carefully, I took a step in. The floor creaked as I walked a few more steps. Looking up and down, I searched for the stage. Suddenly, I started walking towards an object that appeared to look like a railing. I noticed letters and numbers on the distant railing. Slowly reaching out, I wiped the dust from the railing with my sleeve to find something unexpected was actually written on it.
12730 Freta Caerula St., NA, US.
I knew that it was Latin. It said 12730 Blue Seas St. I don't know where it is. I needed more clues to find out what it meant, so I went back the theater. I walked around trying to find some kind of letter, sign, any clues to help me. Finally, what I wanted to see my whole life was the stage. The curtains were ripped and colors were washed off, there were holes in the wooden floor the size a large sack of potatoes and flour dropped on it, but it was still marvelous to me. I started dancing and twirling around the stage. Suddenly, I tripped over a large crack and hit the wall. THUD. CRACK. Something crushed under my elbow and cut through it. A sparkly liquid water escaped from the bottle and drenched my sleeve until I could feel something wet on my arms. There was a word written on a piece of the broken glass. DIAMREM. Dust was blowing everywhere. The place shook. I slowly got up, shaking, and turned around. Before me was an opening, it was dark. Black as night. It looked like it was empty. I was curious to know what was inside. I took ahold a piece of broken wood and threw it to the entrance. It unexpectedly flew back at me. Fast as a bird, I ducked. I knew there was something unusual about that place!, I thought. I slowly walked to the darkness. Curious, my hand shot into the darkness and out. My hand had went in. I was clearly confused. Then, I picked up another piece of wood and tossed it into the darkness, and once again it flew back. If the wood bounced off, and my hand didn’t do anything but go through, what does it mean?, She thought. The only way I could find out is if I did it again. This time, I closed my eyes and put my whole body in. I felt air blow on my face. I stumbled, surprised. Surrounding me was something I never expected to see. Mermaids! Not only one but hundreds of them, there were mermen too! Above them, was an undersea tower that was lit up by billions of light. They were swimming everywhere. I finally realized that she was underwater and held my breath. A few seconds later, I couldn’t hold her breath, I had to breath. I let go and breathed in. Surprisingly, not even a drop of water went in me. Curious, I blew, instead of bubbles, she felt air.
When I looked down. I gasped. “AAAAAAAAAAAH!” My legs were nowhere to be seen. They were replaced with a tail. As I tried to move with them fell backward and crashed into a mermaid. “Watch where you’re going!” The mermaid exclaimed. “Sorry.” I apologized. “It’s okay. I’m Aquata, who are you?” Aquata asked. “I’m Snow. Snow White. Nice to meet you.” I answered. “Snow, huh? Wierd name. Are you from the North Pod? Or the East? Oh, wait, are you from the South? Oooh, I’ve always wanted to meet someone from the South Pod.” Aquata piled me with questions. “No, actually, I’m not a mermaid at all. I live in Neviya.” I replied. “So you are from here.” “No, I’m not. I’m from Neviya, California. Not Neviya, Undersea.” I pointed up and down. Aquata gasped. I was starting to get what the letters on the railing meant. It was 12730 Blue Seas, Neviya, UnderSea! The only thing I had to find out is the “Blue Seas” part. I have to get back to land by 9 If my parents notice that she isn’t back by 9, they will freak out and get worried. “You’re one of those creatures who have two things that helps you stand straight . Wait, then why do you have a tail?” I wasn’t paying attention. I must have touched something that turned me into a mermaid. ‘‘Helloooo???” Aquata poked me. “Are you okay?”
“Have you heard of a place called, 12730 Blue Seas St. here?” She gasped. “What?” I asked. “No one goes in there because an undersea witch, named Esadora, lives there. A lot of mermaids say she is pure evil.” Aquata said shuddering. “Mermaids say she’s evil because the last potion she made was monstrous. The potion made Standers turn into mermaids. People say she put it into an abandoned building in Neviya, California. Luckily, no one found the potion. If they had found it and they didn't remove the potion after a day or two they would have become permanent mermaids.” Aqata explained. “Oh, no!”
The glass bottle of course! It broke and the liquid must have got into my blood. I must extract it before it becomes permanent. “We need to get there fast.” “Why?” “Because the potion may have mixed with my blood.” “What?!?” “Before I came here I crushed a little glass bottle that was labeled DIAMREM.” “That’s the potion! We need to get there fast before it becomes permanent.” We swam past coral reefs and dolphins to a place filled with what looked like rotten seaweed and shipwrecks. “So, the witch lives here?” Aquata nodded. We swam carefully in and out of the seaweeds and broken wood like it was a maze. Finally, we managed to get through. When we tried knocking on the door, no one answered. “Hello? Is anyone in there?” Only our voice echoed back. “Hey! Up there. The window’s open.” Aquata whispered, observantly. “Let’s go.” Aquata led us through the window. Everything was dark except some lanterns hung on the walls. Quietly, we looked around the lair. CRASH. BOOM. THUD. “What was that?”I asked. “What are you doing in my house!”
Aquata and I stopped and slowly turned around. The witch was blazing with fire of anger. Literally. A fireball was forming in her left arm. She gonna fire. We ducked by the time she threw. There was another ball forming. “WAIT! THE POTION!” Aquata screamed. The witch stopped immediately. “We are here to talk to you about the potion.” The witch eyed us suspiciously. “What about the potion?” “Somebody used it and has turned into a mermaid. We need you to help her get back to her form.” Aquata answered. Esadora looked at something behind us, smirking. We turned around. POTION REMOVER. That must be it. That’s the remover. Aquata reached out to grab it. A lightning bolt struck her. “AQUATA!” She was now lying on the floor. I turned around to see Esadora forming another bolt, and this time, to hit me. I quickly grabbed something from a table to protect me. It turned out to be a mirror. The lighting bolt hit the mirror to reflect it back to Esadora. “NOOOOOOOOOOO!” She fell to the ground. I grabbed the potion remover and swam to Aqata. I was relieved when her eyes flickered. “Aquata!” I helped her up. “I’m okay.”
We swam to the shore. “I guess this is it.” Aquata said, sad. “I’ll visit you every weekend!” “Sure, as long as I don’t have chores.” We laughed. Aquata looked at the potion. “Go.” I opened the bottle and glanced at Aquata one more time. She smiled. I drank the potion. WHOOSH! I was human once again. This was the best day ever!
