There is a growing body of research that addresses caregivers for people living with dementia. However, there is limited research looking at the perceptions of caregivers in specific daily tasks. To address this gap, this study investigated the assistance caregivers provided and the difficulty they faced when completing daily tasks for people with dementia and, additionally, how these experiences might relate to their perceived burden.

Sixty-two caregivers for people living with dementia completed the study. Data were collected, through a survey, on the level of assistance caregivers provided, and the difficulties they experienced. link2 The Zarit Burden Scale was used to measure the level of perceived burden. Descriptive statistics and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used to report the results and the relationship between the perceived burden, the level of assistance provided, and the difficulty experienced.

However, it is difficult to produce 100% legume dough suitable for the extrusion step in pasta production that comprises hydration, mixing, and extrusion. This paper addresses the biochemical phenomena at the origin of the agglomeration of dough particles frequently reported in the literature, which results in very sticky dough that cannot be extruded. We tested changes in mixing conditions including mixing temperature, addition of antioxidants, and flour pretreatment. Our results suggest that enzymatic reactions, notably lipoxygenase related redox activity, are responsible for this impairment of dough mixing and extrusion. Some of the process conditions studied can be applied at industrial scale and will help produce a legume food with nutritional and culinary qualities, beneficial for people with celiac disease, or gluten intolerance, as well as the general population. PRACTICAL APPLICATION In the context of a sustainable and healthy food transition, the food industry is developing legume-based food of high nutritional quality that is widely consumed, like pasta. However, using legumes often leads to technological problems during the mixing and extrusion of pasta. This article demonstrates they are linked to enzymatic oxidative phenomena and provides an easy solution to reduce the problems without drastically changing pasta processing. Applied at industrial scale, it will allow the production of naturally gluten-free pasta rich in protein (two to three times the protein content of wheat pasta), of good nutritional quality.
Dermoscopy is gaining appreciation in the spectrum of non-neoplastic skin conditions, especially papulosquamous and granulomatous dermatoses. However, the use of dermoscopy in such diseases has not yet acquired a standard role in daily practice due to the lack of a structured approach as well as possible pitfalls limiting its accuracy.

A descriptive analysis of the most common limitations/pitfalls described in the literature regarding dermoscopy of non-neoplastic dermatoses was performed, also providing possible tips to deal with them.

The following items were analyzed "two-step" dermoscopic procedure and basic dermoscopic parameters in non-neoplastic dermatoses, uniform dotted vessels in dermatoses other than psoriasis, pseudo-Wickham striae, yellow sero-crusts in non-eczematous dermatoses, peripheral scaling collarette in conditions other than pityriasis rosea, orange areas in non-granulomatous dermatoses, and dermoscopic variability of Grover disease according to histological subtype.

To estimate how many children in mainstream primary schools have cerebral visual impairment (CVI)-related vision problems and to investigate whether some indicators might be useful as red flags, if they were associated with increased risk for these problems.

We conducted a survey of primary school children aged 5 to 11years, using whether they were getting extra educational help and/or teacher- and parent-reported behaviour questionnaires to identify children at risk for CVI. These and a random 5% sample were assessed for CVI-related vision problems. link3 We compared the usefulness of potential red flags using likelihood ratios.

We received questionnaires on 2298 mainstream-educated children and examined 248 children (152 [61%] males, 96 females [39%]; mean age 8y 1mo, SD 20mo, range 5y 6mo-11y 8mo). We identified 78 out of 248 children (31.5% of those examined, 3.4% of the total sample), who had at least one CVI-related vision problem. The majority (88%) were identified by one or more red flag but none were strongly predictive. Fewer than one in five children with any CVI-related vision problem had reduced visual acuity.

Children with CVI-related vision problems were more prevalent than has been appreciated. Assessment of at-risk children may be useful so that opportunities to improve outcomes for children with CVI-related vision problems are not missed.

Herein, we have developed a preclinical human immune - three-dimensional (3D) tumor model (spheroids) to map the efficiency of tumor-specific isotypes for improved tumor cell killing. Different anti-CD20 Rituximab (RTX) isotypes alone or in combination, were evaluated for mediating complement-dependent cytotoxicity and antibody-dependent phagocytosis by human monocytic cells in 3D spheroids, in parallel with monolayer cultures, of human CD20+ B-cell lymphomas. We demonstrate that the IgG3 variant of RTX has the greatest tumoricidal effect over other isotypes, and when combined with apoptosis-inducing RTX-IgG2 isotype the therapeutic effect can be substantially enhanced. The results show further that the treatment outcome by RTX isotypes is influenced by tumor morphology and expression of the complement inhibitor CD59. Moreover, the expression of CD44 was increased in the presence of both HA and hypoxia compared to either alone. Using a bioinformatic database, hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), a key transcription factor in the hypoxic condition, was found to have 4 predicted binding sites on the CD44 promoter. CD44 expression was significantly increased by treatment with cobalt chloride or dimethyloxalylglycine. Over-expression of HIF-1α in NPCs significantly up-regulated the expression of CD44. The binding site of HIF-1α in the CD44 promoter region, was identified by promoter truncation experiments and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays.
