A systematic review was conducted to identify all published English- and local-language studies conducted in Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Thailand, testing the effects of exercise training interventions on fitness and cardiometabolic health in adults with acute or chronic SCI. Protocols and results from high-quality controlled studies were compared with the SEG-SCI. Forward and backward translation processes were used to translate the guidelines into Bahasa Indonesian, Japanese, Korean and Thai languages.

Fifteen studies met the review criteria. At least one study from each country implemented exercise prescriptions that met or exceeded the SEG-SCI. Two were controlled studies. In those two studies, relative to control conditions, participants in exercise conditions achieved significant improral validation and translation of the SEG-SCI is an important step towards establishing consistent SCI exercise prescriptions in research, clinical and community settings around the world.Clinical relevance Ultrasound biomicroscopy is an objective method for assessing changes in anterior segment biometry. A reliable method for assessing anterior segment changes during physiologically driven accommodation can be a useful tool for clinicians, researchers, and industry.Background To assess the test-retest reliability of ultrasound biomicroscopy for measurements of change in anterior chamber depth during a distance to near fixation task in pseudophakic subjects.Methods Subjects were adults with monofocal intraocular lenses implanted in both eyes who completed a 6-month post-operative period and had monocular uncorrected distance visual acuity of 6/15 (0.4 logMAR) or better. The change in anterior chamber depth during a distance to near fixation task was measured with a 35-MHz VuMAX HD ultrasound biomicroscopy device (Sonomed Escalon, New Hyde Park, NY) during two separate visits. An asymmetrical vergence paradigm allowed evaluation of anterior segment biometry at 22-µm axial resolution in one eye, while the fellow eye fixated on the target. To assess the test-retest reliability, 2-sided 95% CI from a paired t test was calculated for the difference in anterior chamber depth change from distance to near between visits.Results The mean (standard deviation) near-focused anterior chamber depth measured by ultrasound biomicroscopy was 4.331 (0.237) and 4.333 (0.241) mm at visits 1 and 2, respectively. In response to a change in fixation from distance (4 m) to near (40 cm), the mean anterior chamber depth change was -0.012 (0.038) and 0.003 (0.039) mm at visits 1 and 2, respectively. Analysis of the difference in the change in anterior chamber depth between visits was -0.015 mm (95% CI, -0.035 to 0.003).Conclusion Ultrasound biomicroscopy is a repeatable, objective method for assessing change in anterior segment biometry during physiological changes in fixation from distance to near.

To investigate fluctuations of cortisol and physiological parametersduring the acute phase of mTBI in hospitalized patients.

30 participants (19 patients with mTBI and 11 controls) were examined for saliva cortisol dynamics, heart rate (HR), systolic arterial pressure (SAP), diastolic arterial pressure (DAP), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and body temperature (BT) fluctuations for four consecutive days. Also, the participants completed the Athens Insomnia Scale and Epworth Sleepiness Scales, in order to check for sleep problems.

Patients showed elevated levels of cortisol relative to controls (peak at 8 am and lowest levels at 12 am), as well as for most physiological parameters. MAP was significantly higher for patients throughout the measurement period, and BT was elevated for patients relative to controls at almost all measurements of the first and second day. Mean HR tended to track at non-significantly higher levels for the mTBI group. Patients' sleepiness and insomnia values (ESS and AIS) were initially significantly higher relative to controls but the difference dissipated by day 4.

Investigating the adjunctive effects of orthokeratology and 0.01% atropine eye drops on controlling the progression of myopia in Chinese children.

The prospective study included Chinese children aged 8 to 13years having a spherical equivalent refractive error ranging from -2.00 to -5.00 D. Participants were categorised into two groups combination group (orthokeratology and 0.01% atropine) or atropine group (0.01% atropine). The axial length and spherical equivalent refraction were measured at baseline and every threemonths post-treatment and compared over twoyears.

The combinaion and atropine groups comprised 20 and 22 participants. Following twoyears of treatment, the average spherical equivalent refraction change was 0.88±0.31 D and 1.14±0.63 D in the combination group and atropine group, respectively (P=0.026), with an average increment in axial length of 0.50±0.17 mm and 0.61±0.21 mm, respectively (P=0.091).
