Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band played sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985, lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions for a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with Toto.

Toto is an American rock band formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group is comprised of six members: guitarist/vocalist Steve Lukather, bassist David Paich, keyboardist/vocalist Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarist and vocalist Joseph Williams. In 1983 the group released Toto IV, which earned an international praise. Following the album's success, the band went on a world tour support of it. During the tour, Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was arrested on drug-related charges. The band decided to let him leave at the conclusion of the tour, and they hired singer/guitarist Joseph Williams in his place. David Hungate, the drummer also quit the band after the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The band has also released several compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the band is "Africa", with over one billion views. The video is set in a library, and shows the band performing on top of a pile of books about Africa.
The track "Africa", from the album Toto IV, was written by the band members and was produced by David Pich. The song was written by members of the band and produced by David Paich. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on the project titled Old Is New. This album featured three new tracks and several completed recordings of songs from the past. The album was a worldwide hit and the band toured on tours to promote it.

Toto, known for the popular song "Africa", recently joined forces to promote their upcoming album, All In. The album debuted on November 6, 2018 and included three brand new tracks from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, plus completed recordings of four older tracks that featured Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album included an original cover version of Weezer's track "Hash Pipe," which the band re-released after hearing it on the radio.
