Reports on quality-of-life (QoL) after bile duct injury (BDI) show conflicting results. The aim of this cohort study was to evaluate QoL stratified according to type of treatment.

 < .001) domain compared to both controls and patients with less severe BDI. QoL was comparable for BDI repair (
 = 86) and controls (
 = 192) in both PCS (
 = .171) and MCS (
 = .654). As a group, patients with BDI (
 = 155) reported worse QoL than controls, in both the PCS (
 < .001) and MCS (
 = .012). Patients with a BDI detected intraoperatively (
 = 124) reported better QoL than patients with a postoperative diagnosis. Patients with an immediate intraoperative repair (
 = 99), including HJ, reported a better long-term QoL compared to patients subjected to a later procedure (
 = 54).

Total hip arthroplasties (THAs) bearing is one of the most important factors for hip replacement because THA survival depends on it. Metal-on-metal (MoM) bearing has lower wear than metal-on-polyethylene but lot of aseptic loosening decrease utilization. We analyze the survival rate of 28 mm Metasul® bearings after a mean follow-up of 12.9 years.

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the survival of the MoM. We evaluate 779 consecutive THAs performed between January 1995 and December 2005 for primary osteoarthritis, congenital dysplasia classified Crowe I, or rheumatoid arthritis. Survival rate was calculated by the Kaplan-Meir method. The association between survival and age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and surface coating was investigated with a proportional odds model. The clinical assessment included Oxford score.

Six hundred fifty-two THAs were reviewed. Sixty-two revisions (9.5%) were performed including 34 aseptic loosening and 11 deep infections. The survival for prosthesis with any reason at 20 years was 87% (confidence interval (CI) 83-90.2) for aseptic loosening at 20 years was 90.1% (CI 87-93.8). There was no association with age, BMI, and surface coating. Gender was significant with lower aseptic loosening for men, hazard ratio = 0.45,
value = 0.035. Oxford score was 57 ± 6.7 (19-60).

The survival rate of Metasul was well and seems to be like our clinical finding. However, radiographic aseptic loosening without surgery is not included in the survival rate. The Oxford score was very good with a lot of patients with asymptomatic hip.

This article discusses iloperidone and aims to provide useful information for clinicians to determine which circumstances would best suit the use of iloperidone to treat schizophrenic patients. In this review, the authors briefly discuss schizophrenia and its treatment, before they discuss properties of iloperidone, its indications, approval process, and adverse effects. To compare the radiographic and clinical effects of 25 versus 10 mg twice-weekly (BIW) etanercept over 52 weeks in Japanese patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

This was a
analysis of a Phase 3 study where Japanese patients with active RA were randomized to receive BIW etanercept 25 mg (
 = 182), etanercept 10 mg (
 = 192), or methotrexate (
 = 176) for 52 weeks (NCT00445770). This analysis included assessments of week-24 and week-52 disease activity, week-52 radiographic progression, and the relationship between baseline characteristics and week 52 clinical outcomes with clinically relevant radiographic progression (CRRP) at week 52.

At week 52, there were no significant differences between 25 and 10 mg etanercept in terms of achieving low disease activity or remission. CRRP was observed in 36% and 32% of patients in the 10 and 25 mg groups, respectively. Predictor analysis suggested that worse background disease status, treatment with methotrexate rather than etanercept, and poorer clinical outcomes at week 52 were associated with CRRP.

The 25 mg BIW etanercept dosage does not appear to be significantly more efficacious than 10 mg in Japanese patients with RA. Further studies evaluating the optimal etanercept dosing regimen in this patient population may be merited. NCT NCT00445770.

There are several imaging techniques available that differ regarding resolution, radiation exposure, time expending, precision, cost, availability or ability to predict disease progression. High-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) that was introduced in 2004 allows the in vivo evaluation of peripheral bone microarchitecture and demonstrated high precision in assessing bone changes in inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases. This review summarizes the use of HR-pQCT for the evaluation of the hand skeleton in inflammatory joint diseases. We conducted a review of the literature regarding the protocols that involve hand joints assessment and evaluation of bone changes as erosions and osteophytes in chronic inflammatory diseases. Apart from measuring bone density and structure of the radius and the tibia, HR-pQCT has contributed to assessment of bone erosions and osteophytes, considered the hallmark of diseases as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, respectively. Our aim was to better understand AI/AN attitudes toward radiation therapy (RT). Patients eligible for this survey study were AI/AN patients with cancer at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center who either received previous RT or were recommended to receive RT. An 18-item questionnaire was administered to each of the 50 participants from October 1, 2018, through February 15, 2019. Willingness to travel for RT was compared to respondent characteristics, concerns regarding RT, and obstacles to obtain RT. Duration of RT was important to 78% of patients 24% would consider traveling 25 miles or more for a standard course, and 48% would travel that distance for a shorter course (P less then .001).
