To verify the accuracy of the conclusion, the overlying bedrock movement and deformation characteristics and the development process of the hydraulic fracture zone during coal seam mining were analyzed by simulating similar materials in the laboratory, using the monitored area as a prototype. The results show that the development height of the mining fracture zone obtained from microseismic monitoring is basically consistent with the simulation results of similar materials. The research finding have significant implications for the study of fracture distribution characteristics and the evolution law of mining overburden, and provide a foundation for scientific prevention and control of water damage on the roof.To describe the presentation, histopathological characteristics, and management outcomes for corneal myxoma. This one-armed cohort study evaluated histologically confirmed consecutive cases of corneal myxoma. Data were evaluated on demographics, clinical presentation, management, histopathological and immunohistochemical features, and outcomes; visual acuity and corneal clarity. The study sample was comprised of 10 eyes (10 patients). The median age at presentation was 10.5 years. Five eyes had high intraocular pressure, four eyes had decreased distance visual acuity and one eye became discolored. Surgical management included penetrating keratoplasty (8 eyes), phototherapeutic keratectomy (1 eye), and evisceration because of a blind painful eye (1 eye). Postoperative best-corrected distance vision ranged from 20/20 to 20/60 (1 eye), less then 20/60 to 20/200 (2 eyes), less then 20/200 to 20/400 (1 eye), less then 20/200 to light perception (4 eyes) and no light perception (1 eye). The histopathology of these lesions showed typical subepithelial proliferating spindle-shaped cells of mesenchymal origin within a myxoid stroma rich in glycosaminoglycan. The median duration of follow-up was 5 years. Recurrence was observed in an eye that underwent local excision. Corneal myxoma is a rare lesion that is presumably isolated, secondary, and reactive in nature. Surgically management yields reasonably favorable outcomes.Bio-sequence comparators are one of the most basic and significant methods for assessing biological data, and so, due to the importance of proteins, protein sequence comparators are particularly crucial. On the other hand, the complexity of the problem, the growing number of extracted protein sequences, and the growth of studies and data analysis applications addressing protein sequences have necessitated the development of a rapid and accurate approach to account for the complexities in this field. As a result, we propose a protein sequence comparison approach, called PCV, which improves comparison accuracy by producing vectors that encode sequence data as well as physicochemical properties of the amino acids. At the same time, by partitioning the long protein sequences into fix-length blocks and providing encoding vector for each block, this method allows for parallel and fast implementation. To evaluate the performance of PCV, like other alignment-free methods, we used 12 benchmark datasets including classes with homologous sequences which may require a simple preprocessing search tool to select the homologous data. And then, we compared the protein sequence comparison outcomes to those of alternative alignment-based and alignment-free methods, using various evaluation criteria. These results indicate that our method provides significant improvement in sequence classification accuracy, compared to the alternative alignment-free methods and has an average correlation of about 94% with the ClustalW method as our reference method, while considerably reduces the processing time.We describe a new method for remote emotional state assessment using multispectral face videos, and present our findings unique transdermal, cardiovascular and spatiotemporal facial patterns associated with different emotional states. The method does not rely on stereotypical facial expressions but utilizes different wavelength sensitivities (visible spectrum, near-infrared, and long-wave infrared) to gauge correlates of autonomic nervous system activity spatially and temporally distributed across the human face (e.g., blood flow, hemoglobin concentration, and temperature). We conducted an experiment where 110 participants viewed 150 short emotion-eliciting videos and reported their emotional experience, while three cameras recorded facial videos with multiple wavelengths. Spatiotemporal multispectral features from the multispectral videos were used as inputs to a machine learning model that was able to classify participants' emotional state (i.e., amusement, disgust, fear, sexual arousal, or no emotion) with satisfactory results (average ROC AUC score of 0.75), while providing feature importance analysis that allows the examination of facial occurrences per emotional state. We discuss findings concerning the different spatiotemporal patterns associated with different emotional states as well as the different advantages of the current method over existing approaches to emotion detection.
Extrahepatic tryptophan (Trp)-kynurenine (Kyn) metabolism via indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) induction was found to be associated with intrinsic immune regulation. However, the Trp-Kyn metabolism-associated immune regulation in dermatomyositis (DM) remains unknown. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the clinical relevance of the Trp-Kyn metabolism via IDO1 induction in DM.
Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) was used to examine the serum Kyn and Trp concentrations in DM. In addition, we used X-tile software to determine the optimal cutoff value of the Kyn/Trp ratio, a surrogate marker for Trp-Kyn metabolism. Spearman analysis was performed to evaluate the association of Trp-Kyn metabolism with muscle enzymes and inflammatory markers.
DM patients had significantly higher serum Kyn/Trp ratio (× 10
) when compared with the healthy controls. The serum Kyn/Trp ratio was positively correlated with the levels of muscle enzymes and inflammatory markers. In addition, the serum Kyn/Trp ratio upon treatment. •Cox regression analyses identified ln(Kyn/Trp) as an independent prognostic predictor of mortality in DM. •Monitoring intrinsic immune regulation function should be considered a potential therapeutic target in DM patients.
DM patients with enhanced Trp-Kyn metabolism at disease onset are characterized by more severe disease status and poor prognosis. Intrinsic immune regulation function via enhanced Trp-Kyn metabolism by IDO1 induction may be a potential therapeutic target in DM. Key Points • HPLC-MS identified increased serum Kyn/Trp ratio in DM patients, which positively correlated with levels of muscle enzymes and inflammatory markers and was downregulated upon treatment. • Cox regression analyses identified ln(Kyn/Trp) as an independent prognostic predictor of mortality in DM. selleck inhibitor • Monitoring intrinsic immune regulation function should be considered a potential therapeutic target in DM patients.Lgr5 has been identified as a marker of the stem/progenitor cells in the murine ovary and oviduct by lineage tracing. However, little is known regarding LGR5 expression or its functional significance in human ovary tissues. Here, using RNA in situ hybridization and/or immunohistochemistry, we thoroughly investigated LGR5 expression in normal human ovaries, fallopian tubes and various ovarian tumors. We discovered that LGR5 expression is negligible in the human ovary surface epithelium, whereas ovarian stromal cells normally express low levels of LGR5. Remarkably, fallopian tube epithelium, inclusion cysts and serous cystadenomas with a Müllerian phenotype expressed high levels of LGR5, and LGR5 expression was restricted to PAX8+/FOXJ1- secretory cells of the tubal epithelium. Strong stromal LGR5 expression without epithelial LGR5 expression was consistently observed in the path from serous cystadenoma to serous borderline tumor to low grade serous carcinoma (LGSC). Unlike LGSC, high grade serous carcinoma (HGSC), clear cell carcinoma, endometrioid carcinomas displayed various epithelial-stromal LGR5 expression. Notably, high levels of LGR5 expression were observed in serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma, which slightly declined in invasive HGSC. LGR5 expression was significantly associated with improved progression-free survival in HGSC patients. Moreover, in vitro assays demonstrated that LGR5 expression suppressed tumor proliferation and migratory capabilities. Taken together, these findings indicate a tumor-suppressive role for LGR5 in the progression of HGSC.Under the influence of climate alteration and human activities, the hydrological regime of rivers is changing dramatically, which has become a hot spot for water environment research. In this study, we quantitatively assessed the degree of hydrological variability of the Jialing River and the contribution of climate alteration and human activities to hydrological alterations using the ecohydrological indicator range of alteration (IHA-RVA) method and Budyko hypothesis formulations. The results showed that (1) The average annual runoff and the precipitation of Jialing River showed a decreasing trend, the potential evapotranspiration showed an increasing trend. (2) Compared with before the hydrological situation changed, the degree of alteration in the annual extreme streamflow is 31%, which is a low degree of alteration; the degree of alteration in monthly streamflow, annual extreme flow magnitude, extreme flow ephemeris, and streamflow alteration frequency are 51%, 43%, 54%, and 64% respectively, which are all moderate degrees of alteration; the overall hydrological alteration is 50%, which belongs to moderate alteration. (3) The contribution of precipitation, potential evapotranspiration, and human activities to the runoff alteration is 61%, - 16%, and 55%, respectively. This study provides corresponding references for ecological restoration and sustainable development of the Yangtze River Basin in China.
To evaluate the interaction effect of blood glucose and blood pressure on the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
31,165 subjects were selected without CKD at baseline and had completed the first follow-up from "Jinchang cohort". Cox regression model and restricted cubic splines functions were used to evaluate the effects of blood glucose or pressure on the incidence of CKD and dose-response relationship after adjusting for confounding covariates. Synergic effect was assessed by the multiplicative or additive interaction scale.
Among 31,165 subjects, 1307 new-onset CKD were observed during 68905.78 person-years follow-up, and the incidence density was 18.97 per 1000 person-years. The risk of CKD gradually increased with the increase of blood pressure in diabetes, pre-diabetes and normal groups (P
< 0.05). And, the risk was greatest when SBP/DBP reached ≥150/≥110 mmHg in three groups, and HRs (95% CI) were 1.610 (1.070-2.422), 2.142 (1.396-3.288) and 2.455 (1.941-3.106), respectively. Additionally but no additive interaction effect between them.Training of neural networks can be reformulated in spectral space, by allowing eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the network to act as target of the optimization instead of the individual weights. Working in this setting, we show that the eigenvalues can be used to rank the nodes' importance within the ensemble. Indeed, we will prove that sorting the nodes based on their associated eigenvalues, enables effective pre- and post-processing pruning strategies to yield massively compacted networks (in terms of the number of composing neurons) with virtually unchanged performance. The proposed methods are tested for different architectures, with just a single or multiple hidden layers, and against distinct classification tasks of general interest.
