Executive functions (EF) are cognitive processes that organise and guide behaviour towards one's goals. Both emotional awareness and EF play a role in processes such as emotion regulation and are risk factors for the development and maintenance of depression. Although previous research suggests that aspects of emotional awareness are related to EF, methodological and measurement limitations within the available literature make it difficult to clearly understand how they are associated. In this registered report, we examined the extent to which task-based measures of a specific EF process, shifting, are differentially related to unique facets of emotional awareness (i.e. emotional clarity of type, emotional clarity of source, voluntary attention to emotions, and involuntary attention to emotions), and to what extent EF and emotional awareness are related to depression. Using structural equation modelling, we found evidence that emotional clarity of type was associated with greater shifting cost. Shifting was not associated with any other facet of emotional awareness. Depression was linked to lower emotional clarity of type, higher involuntary attention to emotions, but not poorer EF performance. We discuss how emotional awareness and EF may be uniquely related to depression.Enhancing virus multiplication could assist in the rapid production of vaccines against viral diseases. In particular, the spacer domain may impact on the CAR T cell function by affecting the length and flexibility of the resulting CAR. This study addresses the need to improve the manufacturing process and the antitumor activity of CD44v6-specific CAR T cells by defining the optimal structure of a spacer region derived from the extracellular domain of the human low-affinity nerve growth factor receptor (LNGFR). We tailored the LNGFR spacer to modulate CAR length to efficiently recognize distal or proximal epitopes and to allow selection of transduced CAR T cells by the use of clinical-grade validated manufacturing systems. The different LNGFR spacers investigated in this study are responsible for the generation of CAR T cells with a different memory phenotype, which is mainly related to the level of CAR expression and the extent of the associated tonic signaling. In particular, the CD44v6-NWN2.CAR T cells are enriched in central memory cells and show improved in vitro functions in terms of killing capability, and in vivo antitumor activity against hematological and solid tumors. Past research has identified Ambivalent Sexism (AS), Rape Myth Acceptance (RMA), and the victim-perpetrator relationship as key constructs influencing rape blame attributions and rape proclivity. Limitations with methodologies have, however, limited the practical implications of past research, particularly in the context of underpowered samples and a lack of transparency in vignette development and implementation. In the current research, three studies aimed to validate material to be used in research into rape perceptions and to examine the impact of victim-perpetrator relationship, AS, and RMA on victim and perpetrator culpability, and rape proclivity, using an experimental design. On 563 participants, this research developed and validated six rape vignettes which accounted for methodological limitations of past research (Study One) and were found to be believable and realistic by participants; it further found that aggressively sexist attitudes were associated with incree, particularly in producing validated material that can be reused by future researchers.
MiRNAs are important regulators of inflammation and wound healing. However, the mechanisms through which miRNAs regulate wound healing under normal and diabetic conditions are poorly understood. We aimed to determine the effects of miR-146a on the pathogenesis of wound healing in normal and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice.

Wild-type (WT) and miR-146a knockout (KO) mice were induced to develop diabetes with STZ. Next, skin and corneal wounds were produced and measured. Percent wound closure and histology were evaluated. Inflammation at wound sites was analyzed using flow cytometry, RT-PCR, and Western blot.

Healing of wounded skin was significantly delayed in miR-146a KO compared to WT mice. However, corneal epithelial wound healing did not differ significantly in the mice with normal blood glucose, whereas corneal and skin wound healing was significantly delayed in KO mice with diabetes. Neutrophil infiltration increased in skin wounds of KO compared with normal mice. The potential mechanisms were associated with dysregulated IL-1β, TNF-α, IRAK1, TRAF6, and NF-κB signaling induced by miR-146a KO.

The soft tissue abnormalities responsible for these deformities were characterized using preoperative multi-planar three-dimensional ultrasound and intraoperative observation in four patients. In all patients, the abductor pollicis brevis and superficial head of the flexor pollicis brevis inserted into the radial first metacarpal, whereas the adductor pollicis and deep head of the flexor pollicis brevis inserted into the ulnar thumb. Aberrant location of the flexor pollicis longus and absence of the A1 pulley system was associated with severe radial deviation. An additional superficial thenar muscle along the ulnar metacarpal was associated with minimal metacarpal adduction. Uneven forces on the ulnar duplicate could be associated with these characteristic deformities and joint instability. Knowledge of these abnormalities allows better planning of surgery and further insight into this rare radial polydactyly configuration.Level of evidence II.Objectives In performing mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), we aimed at achieving the trifecta of stone-free status and no complications in a single treatment session. We analyzed our experience to determine negative predictors for achieving these three-fold goals. Patients and Methods The data of all consecutive patients who underwent tubeless mini-PCNL between July 2015 and March 2020 in two hospitals were retrospectively reviewed. Stone-free was defined as no residual stones. Complications were recorded and graded according to modified Clavien classification. Patients were divided into two groups according to the outcome (trifecta and non-trifecta). Factors affecting the outcome were compared between both groups by using univariate and multivariate analyses to detect independent unfavorable risk factors. Results The study included 944 patients with mean age 40.2 years (standard deviation 13.6). The stone-free rate after one session of mini-PCNL was 90.7%. Auxiliary procedures were needed in 14 patients (1.5%). Complications were observed in 76 patients (8.1%). Sabutoclax Trifecta was achieved in 792 patients (84%). Independent unfavorable risk factors in multivariate analysis were number of caliceal groups affected by the stones (relative risks were 1.95 to 2.27 and 5.7 for one, two, and three caliceal groups respectively) and number of percutaneous tracts (relative risk was 2.2). Stone size and complexity were not significant predictors of missing trifecta in multivariate analysis. Conclusions Mini-PCNL can achieve a high rate of trifecta (84%) for different stone sizes and complexities. Stones distribution in multiple caliceal groups and multiple tracts are the independent unfavorable risk factor.The goal of the present study was to evaluate the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as an explanation for bystanders' intention to help cyberbullying victims among college students. Participants completed an online survey in which their intention, attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control toward helping cyberbullying victims were assessed. In addition to these traditional TPB variables, empathy toward cyberbullying victims and anticipated regret from not helping victims were included in the model. Results showed that empathy and anticipated regret significantly predicted intention to help cyberbullying victims over and above the traditional TPB variables. Results also showed that gender altered how traditional TPB variables, empathy, and anticipated regret predict bystander's intention to help cyberbullying victims Empathy and anticipated regret were most robust predictors for males and females, respectively. These results suggest that the TPB is a useful theoretical framework for understanding bystanders' intention to help cyberbullying victims.
