The search was carried out on the PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and CISMeF databases from 1 January 2000 to 19 March 2020. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations were followed in selecting items of interest. Thirty-four articles were included in the systematic review, including 15 articles on oncological testicular sperm extraction (oncoTESE), 18 articles on postgonadotoxic treatment TESE and 1 article on both oncoTESE and postgonadotoxic treatment TESE. Testicular sperm freezing was possible for 42.9% to 57.7% of patients before gonadotoxic treatment and for 32.4% to 75.5% of patients after gonadotoxic treatment, depending on the type of malignant disease. Although no formal conclusion could be drawn about the chances to obtain sperm in specific situations, our results suggest that TESE can be proposed before and after gonadotoxic treatment. Before treatment, TESE is more often proposed for men with testicular cancer presenting with azoospermia since TESE can be performed simultaneously with tumor removal or orchiectomy. After chemotherapy, TESE may be planned if the patient presents with persistent azoospermia.A retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from November 2004 to December 2020 to investigate the long-term follow-up results after testicular torsion (TT) in children. Boys with TT were divided into the salvage orchiopexy group and the orchiectomy group, and the baseline characteristics, ultrasonographic indications, intraoperative findings, testicular volumes, and adverse events during follow-up were compared. A total of 145 cases were included in this study. Approximately 56.6% of patients who underwent salvage orchiopexy had testicular atrophy (TA), and the median testicular volume loss of the testes was 57.4%. Age less than 6 years, delayed surgery, and intraoperative poor blood supply were associated with TA in pediatric TT after orchiopexy. Most atrophied testes appeared within 3-6 months after surgery. Compared with the corresponding age-matched healthy controls, the contralateral testicular volumes were larger in the orchiopexy (P = 0.001 without TA, and P = 0.042 with TA) and orchiectomy groups (P = 0.033). The adverse events were comparable in patients with orchiectomy or orchiopexy. In summary, follow-up before 3 months after surgery may not offer sufficient clinical value, while that 3 months after surgery should be regarded as the first follow-up time for testicular monitoring. The contralateral testes of patients with TT showed compensatory hypertrophy. Owing to the difficulties in identifying the individual species of Mycoplasma, there is a lack of information regarding which species are saprophytic and which are pathogenic. The prevalence of the individual species is also unknown. In addition, in both humans and dogs, the results of some studies on the impact of Mycoplasma are conflicting. The presence of Mycoplasma spp. on the epithelium of reproductive tract is often associated with infertility, although they are also detected in healthy individuals. The occurrence of Mycoplasma spp. is more common in dogs (even 89%) than in humans (1.3%-4%). However, whether CCDC103 pathogenic variants cause severe asthenoteratozoospermia has yet to be determined. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed for two individuals with nonsyndromic asthenoteratozoospermia in a consanguineous family. A homozygous CCDC103 variant segregating recessively with an infertility phenotype was identified (ENST00000035776.2, c.461A>C, p.His154Pro). CCDC103 p.His154Pro was previously reported as a high prevalence mutation causing PCD, though the reproductive phenotype of these PCD individuals is unknown. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of affected individuals' spermatozoa showed that the mid-piece was severely damaged with disorganized dynein arms, similar to the abnormal ultrastructure of respiratory ciliary of PCD individuals with the same mutation. Thus, our findings expand the phenotype spectrum of CCDC103 p.His154Pro as a novel pathogenic gene for nonsyndromic asthenospermia.Aeolian sediment emission from surfaces and subsequent transport are important geological processes. The Tibet Plateau experiences strong aeolian activity in areas such as the Yarlung Zangbo River basin. The dust storms have caused grounding of aircraft, highway closures, and other consequences for the region's residents. However, few researchers have studied this activity, which means that little knowledge is available on aeolian activity to support efforts to mitigate or prevent aeolian disasters. We measured aeolian sediment transport in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River from 2020 to 2021. Field observations showed spatial and temporal variation of the sediment transport rate, with the greatest aeolian sediment transport in spring and winter. The largest total aeolian sediment transport rate occurred over sandy desert, with the smallest emission by a floodplain grassland. The change in sediment transport rate with height followed an exponential function, but the coefficients differed among landscapes. The mean sediment transport rate was greatest above shifting sand near riverbanks (0.21 kg m-1 d-1), where the sand is exposed in the winter and spring, followed by shifting floodplain sands (0.13 kg m-1 d-1), and was lowest above a floodplain grassland (0.03 kg m-1 d-1). Mean grain size also decreased with increasing height above 0.25 m, with a minimum mean grain size (about 52.6 μm) at 3.0 m above a floodplain grassland, and maximum mean grain size (about 100.2 μm) at 3.0 m above a floodplain shifting sand surface. The spatial variation in sediment transport rates and grain size related to the proportion of fine particles in the surface material. By comparing the aeolian sediment transport over different landscapes, we found that river banks and floodplains, which had rich deposits of very fine sand, silt, and clay, were the major sources of dust in this region. Our results indicate that efforts to mitigate or prevent aeolian disasters require a focus on riverbank and floodplain deposits.
Rituximab-induced immunosuppression could be a risk factor for mortality from COVID-19. The aim of the study was to describe the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients who have received rituximab and its association with a persistent viral infection.

Retrospective observational study of patients who received rituximab in the 6 months before to the onset of the pandemic. We analyzed the presence of infection and associated them with demographic variables, pathological history related to an increased risk of developing severe COVID-19, the doses of rituximab received, the type of ventilatory support, thromboembolic events, and the treatment received. A descriptive analysis of all the variables was carried out and infected and uninfected patients were compared.

We screened a total of 68 patients who had received rituximab (median cumulative dose 4,161mg (2,611-8,187.5)). 54.4% men, mean age 60.8 years (15.7; 25-87)). C + was confirmed for 22 patients. Of these, 45.5% had high blood pressure, 36.4% Diabetes Mellitus, 31.8% smokers/ex-smoker, 22.7% lung disease, 13.6% heart disease and 4.5% obesity. There were no statistically significant differences between C+ and C-. Only 2 patients developed immunity. For 10 patients (45.5%) did not have a negative CRP until the end of the follow-up. There was no association with cumulative dose of rituximab. The mortality rate was 22.7% in the C+.

Unfortunately, there is a shortage of data concerning prediabetic individuals with peripheral neuropathy (PN). Therefore, we aimed to study the association of vitamin D deficiency with PN severity and to determine the effect of vitamin D supplementation on PN in prediabetics. Methods A case-control study was conducted consisting of 89 prediabetic individuals with PN and a control group of prediabetics without PN, recruited from the outpatient department of the National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cairo, Egypt. All patients were screened for PN using clinical examination and Douleur Neuropathique 4 diagnostic questionnaire (DN4). Group A (with PN) was assessed for neuropathic severity using the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ). In addition, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, ionized calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone (PTH), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2-hour post 75g glucose (2h-PPBG) and lipid profile were measured for both groups. Prediabetic patients with PN were given vitamin D3 200.000 IU IM monthly for three months. After three months, clinical assessment, DN4, SF-MPQ and all laboratory measures were repeated. Results Vitamin D was not associated with the severity of PN patients. However, supplementation of vitamin D resulted in a highly significant improvement in glycemic parameters , p≤0.001. learn more Interestingly, neuropathy score and severity before vitamin D supplementation were (6.4±1.6 and 28.3±7.2) and after became (2.5±0.9 and 17±6.3, p≤0.001). Conclusion Correction of vitamin D deficiency in prediabetics with PN as well as hypovitaminosis D, improves glycemic parameters, PN score and severity.
