The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding production facilities abroad, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an opportunity to grow for toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto recorded Toto words to ensure that the future generation could read the words. However, many words were being replaced with foreign ones, like dui, which is Bengali for verandah.

Origins

Established in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the first half of its existence, the company produced products to meet the demands of modern, contemporary urban housing. It used the first tunnel kiln in the nation that could produce ceramics continuously. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.

In the late 1980s the company began to expand outwards to take advantage of sales and new markets. It created the Cera Trading Company, importing and distributing other manufacturers' products to complement its own line of sanitary earthenware and plumbing fittings. This strategy increased sales and expanded the market share of the company globally.

In the 90s, Toto began to concentrate on research and development of water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better meet the needs of customers and increase profits. The company adopted a just-in-time approach to managing its supply chain and used the same approach for its sales process. This led to a higher level customer satisfaction.

Toto continued to innovate toilet technology. Its most recent toilet, for example is equipped with an extremely powerful tornado flush that is more ecologically friendly than traditional toilets. The company makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process, and has a green purchasing policy. Toto also produces faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with greater energy efficiency than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It hosts exhibits on Toto's most famous products and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made of ceramics) as well as the history of plumbing, and products such as bath units. In another gallery, visitors will find Toto products that are sold across the world. The museum even has a bathroom that features the WASHLET toilet, as well as other toilet-related innovations.

Before the formation of Toto members of the group performed session work for various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also appeared on records by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

It is common for a group with a name like Asia to be a prog rock band, but it is actually a pretty straightforward rock group. The group started out as a group and released two albums - 1979's self-titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a variety of musical backgrounds their biggest hit was achieved in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a major blockbuster, but not without problems. Record companies placed the band on the place with the directive "give us an album that's a smash or we'll sack you" and the pressure was on to meet the deadline. Luckily for Toto they delivered and they did it with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their previous experiences in the music industry, as the band members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their distinctive sound has become the norm for '80s pop, and has influenced many contemporary artists.

The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with songs like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write amazing AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into you. The album also includes some more jazzy, slower tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. 스포츠토토 closes with Great Expectations, a song that mixes folk with distortion AOR and sounds completely wrong, but actually works amazingly well.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career and the band had a variety of drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the after he was charged with drug abuse. the group continued to perform as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Despite the turmoil, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. However, the group was able to release a chart-topping album in the year 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. This album marked the end of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new singer.

Tours

The band has performed across the globe to an audience of millions, and has sold-out shows across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. The band's repertoire is vast and their catalog has amassed over one billion streams on streaming services around the world. The band's music has inspired generations of fans.

Steve Lukather has forged a vibrant, intimate friendship with Joe Williams that is flourishing professionally all over the world. In 2018, the duo celebrated their 40 Tours Around The Sun with an incredibly profitable global tour. The album of the same name landed at 5 on the Billboard 200. The band's latest tour includes their most popular songs and rarely-performed live deep cuts, and a selection of songs from Lukather's and Williams catalogs.

Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet arrangement of previous albums and was a more ferocious, constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. Its edgier sound reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's greater ability on the drums and a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more refined, sharper, and less derivative than on previous recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live performance which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. The studio album came out just a few months later and the group went on an extensive world tour to promote the album. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.

In 1998, Paich & Lukather began looking through old tapes and demos to find songs that hadn't been recorded prior to. It was released as a double album titled Then And Now in 2001. It was the first album by the band not to feature any single song that had the word "A" in its title and it included one previously unreleased track, "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial flop and singer Williams suffered from a bad laryngitis infection that limited his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes along with the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened an event in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the band. The lineup, with the exception of Howe who was working with Yes at the time, became Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
