The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused unprecedented challenges within medical centers, revealing inequities embedded in the medical community and exposing fragile social support systems. While faculty and staff faced extraordinary demands in workplace duties, personal responsibilities also increased. The goal of this study was to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on personal and professional activities of faculty and staff in order to illuminate current challenges and explore solutions.

Qualitative, semi-structured group interviews involved faculty and staff at four affiliate sites within the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. Focus groups addressed the impact of COVID-19 on (1) Changes to roles and responsibilities at work and at home, (2) Resources utilized to manage these changes and, (3) Potential strategies for how the Department could assist faculty and staff. Thematic analysis was conducted using an inductive method at the semantic level The COVID-19 pandemic created burdens for already challenged faculty and staff in both their personal and professional lives. Swift action and advocacy by academic institutions is needed to support the lives and careers of our colleagues now and in the future.
Convertible stem designs allow for stem retention during revision from anatomical to reverse shoulder arthroplasty. In some cases conversion is not possible for example due to excessive soft tissue tensioning. In these cases a total revision is necessary. The primary aim of this Dutch registry study was to evaluate the unforeseen stem reversion percentages in revision of convertible anatomical shoulder arthroplasty to reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Shoulder arthroplasties (n = 2834) performed between 2014 and 2016 registered in the Dutch Arthroplasty Registry were selected. In 2016 94% of primary arthroplasties and 92% of revision arthroplasties were registered in the database. Arthroplasties were selected on convertibility. Mean follow-up was 2.4 years. We analysed the number of revisions for convertible and non-convertible designs. Cases with obligatory revisions as periprosthetic joint infections, stem loosening and periprosthetic fractures were excluded. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to calculate humsary.
This study's purpose was to examine the association between a broad range of lifestyle habits and depressive symptoms in Norwegian adolescents.

This study was based on national, self-reported, cross-sectional data from the Ungdata Surveys, conducted in 2017-2019. The target group comprised 244,250 adolescents (ages 13-19). Binominal logistic regression was used to analyse the association between lifestyle habits (physical activity, social media use, gaming, dietary habits, smoking, smokeless tobacco, alcohol intoxication) and depressive symptoms. BAY 11-7082 nmr The outcome measure was defined as a high level of depressive symptoms (≥80th percentile). Separate analyses were performed for boys and girls, and all models were adjusted for perceived family economy, parental higher education and age.

The odds of having depressive symptoms were significantly lower among those who reported being physically active at least 3 times per week (OR; boys 0.81, girls 0.83), used social media ≤3 h per day (OR; boys 0.65, girls 0.70), engaged in gaming ≤3 h per day (OR; boys 0.72, girls 0.77), were non-smokers (OR; boys 0.74, girls 0.72) and had not experienced alcohol intoxication during the previous 12 months (OR; boys 0.66, girls 0.67). Furthermore, the results indicated a significant inverse association between depressive symptoms and high consumption of a range of healthy food items and low consumption of unhealthy food and beverages among girls. Similar tendencies were found among boys (OR; 0.77-0.91). Finally, higher adherence to healthy lifestyle habits was associated significantly with lower odds of having depressive symptoms among both genders (OR; boys 0.40, girls 0.52).

A healthier lifestyle was associated with lower odds of having depressive symptoms. Additional research is needed to confirm a possible causal relationship.

To observe the sequence of chondrocyte degeneration and matrix degradation in the superficial surface cartilage of the tibial plateau in guinea pigs with spontaneous knee osteoarthritis (OA).

Sixty guinea pigs were euthanized at the ages of 8 months (n= 20),10 months (n= 20) and 12 months (n= 20) respectively. The degree of degeneration of the tibial plateau cartilage was evaluated by Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) score. The levels of Aggrecan,CollagenX,MMP-13 and Caspase-3 in the chondrocytes were detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The serum concentration of CTX-II was measured and compared. Western blot analysis was used to detect the levels of Aggrecan,CollagenX,MMP-13 and Caspase-3 in the cartilage tissue.

The OARSI scores both in 8-month-old group and 10-month-old group were lower than that in the 12-month-old group. The levels of Aggrecan in articular chondrocyte were higher both in 8-month-old group and 10-month-old group than that in 12-month-old group. The level of Collagen X increased with the age of guinea pigs. And the levels of MMP-13 and caspase-3 both in 10-month-old group and 12-month-old group were higher than those in 8-month-old group. The concentration of CTX-II in serum increased significantly in 12 months old group.

The superficial chondrocytes of the tibial plateau first appeared to be hypertrophic and then apoptotic, and the matrix was further degraded when spontaneous knee osteoarthritis occurred in guinea pigs. Changes in the physiological state of chondrocytes are the initiating factors in the pathogenesis of knee OA.

To analyze the risk factors of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and urosepsis after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for upper urinary tract stones and to develop a nomogram to predict postoperative urosepsis according to the risk factors.

The data of patients with type 2 diabetes who underwent one-stage PCNL due to upper urinary tract stones were retrospectively analyzed. The risk factors of patients with postoperative urosepsis were evaluated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis, and the nomogram prediction model was developed according to the regression coefficient.

One-stage PCNL was successfully completed in 241 patients with DM, and urosepsis occurred in 41 (17.0%) patients after PCNL. Based on multivariate logistic regression analysis, the independent risk factors associated with postoperative urosepsis included preoperative leukocyte elevation (OR = 3.973, P = 0.005), positive urine nitrite (OR = 3.697, P = 0.010), and positive urine culture (OR = 3.562, P = 0.002).hat combine stone morphology and intraoperative stone clearance, can help predict the risk of postoperative urosepsis.
Presently, 1 in 4 Lebanese adolescents is involved in bullying, with 12% being perpetrators. In Lebanon, around 90% of bullying incidents occur in schools. link2 Given the lack of studies tackling bullying perpetration in Lebanon, this study aims to identify and target risk factors of bullying perpetration among Lebanese adolescents, which would serve future prevention and intervention programs.

This cross-sectional study took place between January and May 2019 in a proportionate random sample of schools from all Lebanese districts. A total of 1810 (90.5%) out of 2000 students accepted to participate.

Results showed that 831 (49.1%, CI 0.46-0.51) participants had bullied other people. A stepwise linear regression, using as the dependent variable the bullying perpetration score, showed that higher psychological (β = 0.12; 95% CI 0.083-0.176), sexual (β = 0.26; 95% CI 0.128-0.411), neglect (β = 0.08; 95% CI 0.051-0.120), physical abuse (β = 0.13; 95% CI 0.036-0.235), higher internet addiction (β = 0.07; 95% CI 0.057-0.097), higher social fear (β = 0.10; 95% CI 0.075-0.140), and having separated parents (β = 1.60; 95% CI 0.561-2.650) were significantly associated with more bullying perpetration. Higher social avoidance (β = - 0.03; 95% CI -0.062- -0.003) was significantly associated with less bullying perpetration.

The results revealed that bullying perpetration is significantly associated with parental status, child abuse, internet addiction, and social fear. Educational and relevant governmental institutions could use our findings to develop and implement efficient bullying prevention and intervention programs for all involved parties.

Periodontal disease is one of the most common pathologies in the population. Self-reporting has been used as a diagnostic tool in large populations, among other reasons, to detect the needs of potentially vulnerable groups. This study evaluated the prevalence of periodontal disease in people of Spanish nationality and immigrants in Spain.

This population-based, cross-sectional study was carried out using data obtained from National Health Interview Surveys (NHSs) carried out in 2006, 2011/2012 and 2017 in Spain. Subjects aged 16years and older were included in the NHS-2006 and aged 15years and older were included in the other NHSs. The following variables were self-reported by the participants gum bleeding, tooth mobility, tooth extraction and missing teeth. Chi-square homogeneity tests were performed to assess the main associations between the independent variable (nationality) and the dependent variables (bleeding gums, tooth mobility, tooth extraction and missing teeth). Multinomial logistic regressiongrants in Spain have a lower probability of developing signs associated with periodontal disease than the Spanish population. Among the immigrant cohort, females and those in adult age groups had lower prevalence rates than their counterparts.
People from Minority Ethnic backgrounds living in the UK are at greater risk of not only contracting COVID-19, but also experiencing serious consequences of the virus. These emerging health inequalities mirror those already evident in UK society.

The aim of this study was to understand how COVID-19 and the associated imposed restrictions affected the lives of people from the Muslim community living in the North West of England.

Twenty-five in-depth qualitative interviews and four focus groups (n = 22) explored individual experiences of COVID-19 and imposed restrictions. Data were analysed thematically.

The virus and associated imposed restrictions had negative impacts on the psychological wellbeing of participants, their families and the wider community. Worry and low mood were particular features of participant's pandemic stories. link3 Main concerns were those of contracting and transmitting the virus to others and employment-related difficulties. Low mood was particularly linked to the impact of restrictions on fundamental interactions embedded within cultural and religious practices.
