The CEUS parameters rise time (RT) and time to peak (TTP) were significantly higher in children with Lee grade IV than in those with Lee grades II or III. Spearman correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between rise time and time to peak with Lee grade in the overall cohort of children, and a positive correlation between rise time and time to peak and severity of crescents in the Oxford classification scoring system.
Contrast-enhanced US may be used as a noninvasive imaging technique to evaluate the severity of renal pathology and formation of crescents in children with IgAN and HSPN.

An accurate and reliable seizure prediction system can generate alarm before epileptic seizures to provide patients and their caregivers with sufficient time to take appropriate action. This study proposes an efficient seizure prediction system based on deep learning in order to anticipate the onset of the seizure as early as possible. Handcrafted features extracted based on the prior knowledge and hidden deep features are complementarily fused through the feature fusion module, and then the hybrid features are fed into the multiplicative long short-term memory (MLSTM) to explore the temporal dependency in EEG signals. A one-dimensional channel attention mechanism is implemented to emphasize the more representative information in the multi-channel output of the MLSTM. Finally, a transfer learning strategy is proposed to transfer the weights of the base model trained on the EEG data of all patients to the target patient model, and the latter is then continuously trained using the EEG data of the target patient. The proposed method achieves an average sensitivity of 95.56% and a false positive rate (FPR) of 0.27/h on the SWEC-ETHZ intracranial EEG data. For the more challenging CHB-MIT scalp EEG database, an average sensitivity of 89.47% and a FPR of 0.34/h are obtained. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has good robustness and generalization ability in both intracranial and scalp EEG signals.
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is still the fastest growing cause of blindness in working aged adults, and its typical characteristics are endothelial cell dysfunction and pericytes loss. Transcription factor fork head box P1 (FOXP1) is a member of FOX family involved in diabetes progression and is expressed in endothelial cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role and mechanism of FOXP1 in DR.
The vitreous of DR patients and non-DR patients were collected, and the expression of FOXP1 was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) cultured in high glucose simulated DR environment, and the expressions of FOXP1, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and pigment epithelium derived factor (PEDF) were detected by RT-qPCR and western blot (WB) after transfection of small interfering RNA (siRNA) to knock out FOXP1. At the same time, 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium ted VEGF/PEDF signaling pathway stimulated by high glucose and also reduced the proliferation, migration, and tube formation of endothelial cell, thus improving vascular endothelial dysfunction caused by DR. The results indicate that FOXP1 may be a therapeutic target of DR.With the booming development of flexible wearable sensing devices, flexible stretchable strain sensors with crack structure and high sensitivity have been widely concerned. However, the narrow sensing range has been hindering the development of crack-based strain sensors. In addition, the existence of the crack structure may reduce the interface compatibility between the elastic matrix and the sensing material. Herein, to overcome these problems, integrated core-sheath fibers were prepared by coaxial wet spinning with partially added carbon nanotube sensing materials in thermoplastic polyurethane elastic materials. Due to the superior interface compatibility and the change in the conductive path during stretching, the fiber strain sensor exhibits excellent durability (5000 tensile cycles), high sensitivity (>104), large stretchability (500%), a low detection limit (0.01%), and a fast response time of ∼60 ms. Based on these outstanding strain sensing performances, the fiber sensor is demonstrated to detect subtle strain changes (e.g., pulse wave and swallowing) and large strain changes (e.g., finger joint and wrist movement) in real time. Moreover, the fabric sensor woven with the core-sheath fibers has an excellent performance in wrist bending angle detection, and the smart gloves based on the fabric sensors also show exceptional recognition ability as a wireless sign language translation device. This integrated strategy may provide prospective opportunities to develop highly sensitive strain sensors with durable deformation and a wide detection range.Cancer is a complex disease affecting millions of people around the world. Despite advances in surgical and radiation therapy, chemotherapy continues to be an important therapeutic option for the treatment of cancer. The current treatment is expensive and has several side effects. Also, over time, cancer cells develop resistance to chemotherapy, due to which there is a demand for new drugs. Drug repurposing is a novel approach that focuses on finding new applications for the old clinically approved drugs. Current advances in the high-dimensional multiomics landscape, especially proteomics, genomics, and computational omics-data analysis, have facilitated drug repurposing. The drug repurposing approach provides cheaper, effective, and safe drugs with fewer side effects and fastens the process of drug development. The review further delineates each repurposed drug's original indication and mechanism of action in cancer. Along with this, the article also provides insight upon artificial intelligence and its application in drug repurposing. Clinical trials are vital for determining medication safety and effectiveness, and hence the clinical studies for each repurposed medicine in cancer, including their stages, status, and National Clinical Trial (NCT) identification, are reported in this review article. Various emerging evidences imply that repurposing drugs is critical for the faster and more affordable discovery of anti-cancerous drugs, and the advent of artificial intelligence-based computational tools can accelerate the translational cancer-targeting pipeline.
Unfavorable vascular anatomy can impede thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of aortic arch types, aortic arch branching patterns and supra-aortic arterial tortuosity in stroke patients with large vessel occlusion.
Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) images of all stroke patients in an institutional thrombectomy registry were retrospectively reviewed. Aortic arch types and branching patterns of all patients were determined. In patients with anterior circulation stroke, the prevalence of tortuosity (elongation, kinking or coiling) of the supra-aortic arteries of the affected side was additionally assessed.
A total of 1705 aortic arches were evaluated. Frequency of aortic arch typesI, IIand IIIwere 777 (45.6%), 585 (34.3%) and 340 (19.9%), respectively. selleck compound In 1232cases (72.3%), there was anormal branching pattern of the aortic arch. The brachiocephalic trunk and the left common carotid artery had acommon origin in 258cases (15.1%). In 209cases (12.3%), the left common carotid artery arose from the brachiocephalic trunk. Of 1598 analyzed brachiocephalic trunks and/or common carotid arteries, 844 (52.8%) had no vessel tortuosity, 592 (37.0%) had elongation, 155 (9.7%) had kinking, and7 (0.4%) had coiling. Of 1311 analyzed internal carotid arteries, 471 (35.9%) had no vessel tortuosity, 589 (44.9%) had elongation, 150 (11.4%) had kinking, and 101 (7.7%) had coiling.
With 20%, typeIII aortic arches are found in arelevant proportion of stroke patients eligible for mechanical thrombectomy. Nearly half of the stroke patients present with supra-aortic arterial tortuosity, mostly arterial elongation.

An association of a reduction of vaccination efficacy with PFAS serum levels in humans was used by the European Food Safety Authority as a key effect for PFAS risk assessment. The data support for using this association is reviewed by a critical analysis of the respective human epidemiology and the available animal studies on the immunomodulation of PFAS. Based on an analysis of the available human epidemiology, the overall level of evidence regarding associations between PFAS serum levels and reduced antibody response remains weak. Absence of an association between an increase in clinical infections and PFAS serum levels and the limited understanding of the importance of antibody levels as an isolated data point further support this conclusion. Animal toxicity studies with PFAS focusing on immunomodulation also provide only limited support for immunomodulation as an important endpoint in PFAS toxicity. While immunomodulation is observed after PFAS administration, generally at blood concentrations several orders of magnitude above those seen in environmentally exposed humans, the relevance of these observation is hampered by the high doses required to influence immune endpoints, the limited number of endpoints assessed, and inconsistent results. The limitations of the current database on associations of human PFAS exposures outlined here indicate that more evidence is required to select immunomodulation as a critical endpoint for human PFAS risk assessment.
This study aimed to analyze the prognostic factors associated with overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with bone-only metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who have five or fewer lesions treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT).
The clinical data of 54patients with 70bone metastases undergoing SBRT treated between 2013 and 2020 with adose of at least 5 Gy per fraction and abiologically effective dose (BED) of at least 90 Gy were retrospectively evaluated.
The majority of lesions were located in the spine (57.4%) and had only one metastasis (64.8%). After amedian follow-up of 22.4months, the 1‑ and 2‑year OS rates were 84.6% and 67.3%, respectively, and median OS was 43.1months. The 1‑ and 2‑year PFS rates and median PFS were 63.0%, 38.9%, and 15.3months, respectively. In SBRT-treated lesions, the 1‑year local control (LC) rate was 94.9%. Age, metastasis localization, and number of fractions of SBRT were significant prognostic factors for OS in univariate analysis.
