Priapism within lymphoproliferative issues: An organized evaluate.
Arsenic toxicity caused a significant decrease in aerial C. sativa biomass treated with CK and SO4 of about 32.7% and 29.8% compared to untreated plants, respectively. However, for our research purposes, biomass reduction has been counterbalanced by an increase in As phytoextraction, such as to consider C. sativa and CK an effective combination for the remediation of As-contaminated soils. Considering that C. sativa has the suitable characteristics to provide valuable resources for bioenergy production, our work can help improve the implementation of a sustainable management model for As contaminated areas, such as phytoremediation coupled with bioenergy generation.Previous studies have proved that particulate air pollution was related to adverse cardiovascular effects. However, most studies focused on the acute effects of short-term fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure and the general population. Evidence from long-term cohort studies based on the cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients was scarce. Our study aimed to explore the impact of long-term exposure to PM2.5 on the mortality among post-CVD patients. This is a cohort study that involved 5143 post-CVD patients in Beijing, China. We collected records of CVD patients from hospitals in Beijing, China from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012 and followed up these patients from hospital admission until December 31, 2016. The vital status of the patients was determined using the National Death Surveillance Point System (DSPs). The PM2.5 concentrations were obtained from the Atmospheric Composition Analysis Group. The Cox regression models were used for data analyses. Our findings suggested that increased mortality of CVD patients with an HR of 1.43 (95% CI 1.24, 1.63) was related to long-term exposure to PM2.5. The association was stronger for cardiovascular-related mortality, especially for mortality from myocardial infarction (MI). The HR for any CVD mortality was 1.57 (95% CI 1.27, 1.94), HR for MI mortality was 1.82 (95% CI 1.16, 2.83). Long-term PM2.5 exposure may significantly affect the survival of CVD patients. Compared with the general population, patients with CVD are more susceptible to PM2.5 exposure. Increased attention to the management of CVD patients is warranted.Air pollution (AP) triggers neuroinflammation and lipoperoxidation involved in physiopathology of several neurodegenerative diseases. Our study aims to investigate the effect of chronic exposure to ambient AP in oxidative stress (OS) parameters and number of neurons and microglial cells of the cortex and striatum. Seventy-two male Wistar rats were distributed in four groups of exposure control group (FA), exposed throughout life to filtered air; group PA-FA, pre-natal exposed to polluted air until weaning and then to filtered air; group FA-PA, pre-natal exposed to filtered air until weaning and then to polluted air; and group PA, exposed throughout life to polluted air. After 150 days of exposure, the rats were euthanized for biochemical and histological determinations. The malondialdehyde concentration in the cortex and striatum was significantly higher in the PA group. The activity of superoxide dismutase was significantly decreased in the cortex of all groups exposed to AP while activity of catalase was not modified in the cortex or striatum. The total glutathione concentration was lower in the cortex and higher in the striatum of the FA-PA group. The number of neurons or microglia in the striatum did not differ between FA and PA. On the other hand, neurons and microglia cell numbers were significantly higher in the cortex of the FA-PA group. Our findings suggest that the striatum and cortex have dissimilar thresholds to react to AP exposure and different adaptable responses to chronically AP-induced OS. find more At least for the cortex, changing to a non-polluted ambient early in life was able to avoid and/or reverse the OS, although some alterations in enzymatic antioxidant system may be permanent. As a result, it is important to clarify the effects of AP in the cortical organization and function because of limited capacity of brain tissue to deal with threatening environments. In this study, the impacts of common activation methods, namely heating, the addition of zero-valent metals (Cu, Fe, Al, Co, and Ni) and the addition of H2O2, on peroxydisulfate (PS) and peroxymonsulfate (PMS) activation were investigated. Rhodamine B (Rhb, 50 mg/L) was chosen as the substrate to be tested. Results showed that the efficiency of PMS was higher than that of PS under the same heat activation conditions. Cu, Fe, and Ni activated PS, while Co exhibited detrimental effects; Among them, Cu was the best. Co was the best activator among the investigated metals for PMS. Additionally, the use of H2O2 achieved a higher removal of Rhb in the PS/Cu system but inhibited the PMS/Co system. Three common anions (SO42-, Cl-, NO3-) that exist in the Yellow River were investigated. Cl- was found to accelerate Rhb degradation, while SO42- and NO3- slowed Rhb degradation. Toxicity experiment results showed that the addition of H2O2 promoted the transformation of Cu (0) to Cu2+ and Co (0) to Co2+, which was dangerous for seed germination. Graphical abstract. In the present investigation, a novel Fe-TiO2 composite was fabricated by mixing fly ash (FA), foundry sand (FS), and bentonite clay for the degradation of paracetamol (PCM). This composite acts as a surface for immobilizing the TiO2 catalyst (using the dip-coating method) besides facilitating the leaching of iron (FA and FS) in acidic conditions. Leached iron (in the form of Fe(II), Fe(III), and total iron) promotes the photo-Fenton (with the addition of H2O2 in the system) while the surface-active TiO2 layer leads to photocatalysis, thus leading to in situ dual process combining photocatalysis and photo-Fenton in one system. This dual process led to a synergy of 75% in comparison to the photocatalysis and photo-Fenton process owing to the large production of •OH. Various parameters such as H2O2 dose (525 mg l-1), number of beads (80), degradation time (215 min), and volume (200 ml) were optimized, and 96.6% of reduction in PCM was observed. Durability study of catalyst showed a minor reduction in the activity of the catalyst after 30 cycles.
