Results of prosthetic ft about metabolic electricity expenditure in individuals with transtibial amputation: An organized evaluation along with meta-analysis.
This paper also serves as a rebuttal of claims made in a previously published minireview by another author, and offers an alternative account. Some dynamics associated with consciousness are shared by other complex macroscopic living systems. For example, autocatalysis, an active agency in ecosystems, imparts to them a centripetality, the ability to attract resources that identifies the system as an agency apart from its surroundings. It is likely that autocatalysis in the central nervous system likewise gives rise to the phenomenon of selfhood, id or ego. Similarly, a coherence domain, as constituted in terms of complex bi-level coordination in ecosystems, stands as an analogy to the simultaneous access the mind has to assorted information available over different channels. selleck compound The result is the feeling that various features of one's surroundings are present to the individual all at once. Research on these phenomena in other fields may suggest empirical approaches to the study of consciousness in humans and other higher animals. The methods of statistical physics are exemplified in the classical perfect gas-each atom is a single dynamical entity. Such methods can be applied in ecology to the distribution of cosmopolitan species over many sites. The analogue of an atom is a class of species distinguished by the number of sites at which it occurs, hardly a material entity; yet, the methods of statistical physics nonetheless seem applicable. This paper compares the application of statistical mechanics to the distribution of atoms and to the vastly different problem of distribution of cosmopolitan species. A number of different approaches show that these distributed entities must be in some sense equivalent; the dynamics must be controlled by interaction between species and the global environment rather than between species and many uncorrelated local environments. In recent years, promising mathematical models have been proposed that aim to describe conscious experience and its relation to the physical domain. Whereas the axioms and metaphysical ideas of these theories have been carefully motivated, their mathematical formalism has not. In this article, we aim to remedy this situation. We give an account of what warrants mathematical representation of phenomenal experience, derive a general mathematical framework that takes into account consciousness' epistemic context, and study which mathematical structures some of the key characteristics of conscious experience imply, showing precisely where mathematical approaches allow to go beyond what the standard methodology can do. The result is a general mathematical framework for models of consciousness that can be employed in the theory-building process. In many applications, intelligent agents need to identify any structure or apparent randomness in an environment and respond appropriately. We use the relative entropy to separate and quantify the presence of both linear and nonlinear redundancy in a sequence and we introduce the new quantities of total mutual information gain and incremental mutual information gain. We illustrate how these new quantities can be used to analyze and characterize the structures and apparent randomness for purely autoregressive sequences and for speech signals with long and short term linear redundancies. The mutual information gain is shown to be an important new tool for capturing and quantifying learning for sequence modeling and analysis. In the present paper we summarize the methods and results of calculations for the theoretical informational quantities obtained in our works for the nondispersive optical fiber channel. We considered two models the per-sample model and the model where the input signal depends on time. For these models we found the approach for the calculation of the mutual information exactly in the nonlinearity parameter but for the large signal-to-noise power ratio. Using this approach for the per-sample model we found the lower bound of the channel capacity in the intermediate power range. The current study investigates the 2D entropy production and the mixed convection inside a wavy-walled chamber containing a rotating cylinder and a heat source. The heat source of finite-length h is placed in the middle of the left vertical surface in which its temperature is fixed at T h . The temperature of the right vertical surface, however, is maintained at lower temperature T c . The remaining parts of the left surface and the wavy horizontal surfaces are perfectly insulated. The governing equations and the complex boundary conditions are non-dimensionalized and solved using the weighted residual finite element method, in particular, the Galerkin method. Various active parameters are considered, i.e., Rayleigh number R a = 10 3 and 10 5 , number of oscillations 1 ≤ N ≤ 4 , angular rotational velocity - 1000 ≤ Ω ≤ 1000 , and heat source length 0 . 2 ≤ H ≤ 0 . 8 . A mesh independence test is carried out and the result is validated against the benchmark solution. Results such as stream function, isotherms and entropy lines are plotted and we found that fluid flow can be controlled by manipulating the rotating velocity of the circular cylinder. For all the considered oscillation numbers, the Bejan number is the highest for the case involving a nearly stationary inner cylinder. The information theory developed by Shannon [...].The velocity profile of an open channel is an important research topic in the context of open channel hydraulics; in particular, the velocity-dip position has drawn the attention of hydraulic scientists. In this study, analytical expressions for the velocity-dip position over the entire cross section and at the centerline of a rectangular open channel are derived by adopting probability methods based on the Tsallis and general index entropy theories. Two kinds of derived entropy-based expressions have the same mathematical form as a function of the lateral distance from the sidewall of the channel or of the aspect ratio of the channel. Furthermore, for the velocity-dip position over the entire cross section of the rectangular open channel, the derived expressions are compared with each other, as well as with two existing deterministic models and the existing Shannon entropy-based expression, using fifteen experimental datasets from the literature. An error analysis shows that the model of Yang et al. and the w. This work also shows the potential of entropy-based expressions, the Shannon entropy and the Tsallis entropy in particular, to predict the velocity-dip position at the centerline of both narrow and wide rectangular open channels. In this paper, we propose and study a new probability mass function by creating a natural discrete analog to the continuous Lindley distribution as a mixture of geometric and negative binomial distributions. The new distribution has many interesting properties that make it superior to many other discrete distributions, particularly in analyzing over-dispersed count data. Several statistical properties of the introduced distribution have been established including moments and moment generating function, residual moments, characterization, entropy, estimation of the parameter by the maximum likelihood method. A bias reduction method is applied to the derived estimator; its existence and uniqueness are discussed. Applications of the goodness of fit of the proposed distribution have been examined and compared with other discrete distributions using three real data sets from biological sciences. This is an elaboration of the "extra" advantage of the performance of quantized physical systems over classical ones, both in terms of single outcomes as well as probabilistic predictions. From a formal point of view, it is based on entities related to (dual) vectors in (dual) Hilbert spaces, as compared to the Boolean algebra of subsets of a set and the additive measures they support. The inverse Lomax distribution has been widely used in many applied fields such as reliability, geophysics, economics and engineering sciences. In this paper, an unexplored practical problem involving the inverse Lomax distribution is investigated the estimation of its entropy when multiple censored data are observed. To reach this goal, the entropy is defined through the Rényi and q-entropies, and we estimate them by combining the maximum likelihood and plugin methods. Then, numerical results are provided to show the behavior of the estimates at various sample sizes, with the determination of the mean squared errors, two-sided approximate confidence intervals and the corresponding average lengths. link2 Our numerical investigations show that, when the sample size increases, the values of the mean squared errors and average lengths decrease. Also, when the censoring level decreases, the considered of Rényi and q-entropies estimates approach the true value. The obtained results validate the usefulness and efficiency of the method. An application to two real life data sets is given. This paper shows how to diffuse a message and hide it in multiple PDF files. Presented method uses dereferenced objects and secret splitting or sharing algorithms. It is applicable to various types of PDF files, including text documents, presentations, scanned images etc. Because hiding process is based on structure manipulation, the solution may be easily combined with content-dependent steganographic techniques. The hidden pages are not visible in typical application usage, which was tested with seven different programs.Dual receiver encryption (DRE), being originally conceived at CCS 2004 as a proof technique, enables a ciphertext to be decrypted to the same plaintext by two different but dual receivers and becomes popular recently due to itself useful application potentials such secure outsourcing, trusted third party supervising, client puzzling, etc. link3 Identity-based DRE (IB-DRE) further combines the bilateral advantages/facilities of DRE and identity-based encryption (IBE). Most previous constructions of IB-DRE are based on bilinear pairings, and thus suffers from known quantum algorithmic attacks. It is interesting to build IB-DRE schemes based on the well-known post quantum platforms, such as lattices. At ACISP 2018, Zhang et al. gave the first lattice-based construction of IB-DRE, and the main part of the public parameter in this scheme consists of 2 n + 2 matrices where n is the bit-length of arbitrary identity. In this paper, by introducing an injective map and a homomorphic computation technique due to Yamada at EUROCRYPT 2016, we propose another lattice-based construction of IB-DRE in an even efficient manner The main part of the public parameters consists only of 2 p n 1 p + 2 matrices of the same dimensions, where p ( ≥ 2 ) is a flexible constant. The larger the p and n, the more observable of our proposal. Typically, when p = 2 and n = 284 according to the suggestion given by Peikert et al., the size of public parameters in our proposal is reduced to merely 12% of Zhang et al.'s method. In addition, to lighten the pressure of key generation center, we extend our lattice-based IB-DRE scheme to hierarchical scenario. Finally, both the IB-DRE scheme and the HIB-DRE scheme are proved to be indistinguishable against adaptively chosen identity and plaintext attacks (IND-ID-CPA).
