atment response and determining appropriate medical treatment options in inflammatory rheumatic diseases. • Various cardiovascular autonomic abnormalities have been described in FMS patients. Among these, the most emphasized are autonomic dysfunction, the disruption of the balance between the sympathetic-parasympathetic nervous systems, blunted autonomic reactivity to acute stress, changes in baroreflex sensitivity, increased arterial stiffness, and electrophysiological alterations. • Autonomic cardiovascular dysfunction may be involved in the complex etiopathogenesis of the fibromyalgia syndrome and may trigger at least some symptoms.Hyperglycemia is associated with decreased recanalization probability and increased risk of hemorrhagic complications for stroke patients treated with intravenous alteplase. However, whether hyperglycemia modifies alteplase treatment effect on clinical outcome in patients with large vessel occlusion stroke undergoing endovascular thrombectomy is uncertain. We conducted this study to determine a possible interaction effect between admission hyperglycemia and intravenous alteplase prior to thrombectomy in patients with large vessel occlusion stroke. In this post-hoc analysis of a randomized trial (DIRECT-MT) comparing intravenous alteplase before endovascular treatment vs. endovascular treatment only, 649 with available baseline glucose measurements were included. The treatment-by-admission hyperglycemia (defined as plasma glucose levels ≥ 7.8 mmol/L [140 mg/dL]) interaction was assessed using logistic regression models. As a result, among 649 patients included, 224 (34.5%) were hyperglycemic at admission. Thern clinicaltrials.gov Identifier NCT03469206.A quantitative microbial risk assessment was conducted to assess the health risks associated with the exposure of agricultural workers to tertiary treated wastewater in irrigated fields through soil ingestion in Cyprus. Three pathogenic microorganisms were chosen, particularly E. Selleck KN-62 coli (bacteria), rotavirus (viruses) and Cryptosporidium. Two extreme exposure scenarios were investigated. Monte Carlo simulations were performed using input data from literature, and the model outputs were compared to the health standards of the World Health Organization (WHO). The results suggested that additional treatment is required for all pathogens to satisfy the health standards. Sensitivity analysis identified the source concentration and pathogen reduction due to soil aquifer passage as the most influential factors in the model outputs. Additional computations were performed to evaluate the minimum pathogen reduction due to soil aquifer passage so that the health targets are achieved for the 95 % of the output values. Rotavirus and Cryptosporidium were found to require more treatment than E. coli. The inclusion of these reference pathogens to the monitoring network of the local authorities is recommended, and the role of soil aquifer passage is emphasized on reducing the concentration of the contaminants. This study has identified a new feedstock Chukrasia tabularis L. (C. tabularis) seed for the production of biodiesel. Oil was extracted from the seeds with and without autoclave-assisted ultrasonic homogenization (AUH) pretreatment using different solvents. The solvent n-hexane with AUH pretreatment yielded a maximum oil yield of 32 wt%. The kinetics and thermodynamics of the extraction process were studied in a batch. The data showed that extraction followed first-order kinetics with a rate constant of 1.4 × 10-4 min-1, activation energy of 63.604 kJ mol-1 and pre-exponential factors of 66.66 × 104 s-1. The physiochemical properties of the oil were determined from which it was identified that C. tabularis oil has high free fatty acid (FFA) content, requiring a single-step esterification cum transesterification reaction to produce biodiesel economically. The modified aryl diazonium salt reduction process was used to synthesize a heterogeneous acid catalyst (HAC) from activated carbon precursor and was used to catalyze biodiesel reaction. Furthermore, HAC was characterized by different analytical techniques and it was found that it had an acid site density of 1.02 mmol g-1 and a specific surface area of 602 m2 g-1. The parameters affecting the biodiesel process were studied to obtain a maximum biodiesel conversion of 98.5% at 6 wt% catalyst loading, 151 methanol to oil molar ratio, 120 min reaction time, 70 ºC reaction temperature, and 500 rpm stirring rate. Reusability studies were performed which showed that HAC can be recycled up to five cycles with a conversion above 90% in the fifth cycle. Moreover, the fuel properties of biodiesel were determined using standard methods and were compared with ASTM D6751 and EN14241 standards.Previous studies indicate that pesticide use may play an important role in the occurrence and development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA); however, little is known about the effect of specific pesticides on RA. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether pyrethroid exposure was linked to RA in adults. Data were originated from the 2007-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The levels of pyrethroid exposure were assessed by 3-phenoxybenzoic acid (3-PBA) concentrations in urine samples. We built multivariate logistic regression models to assess associations between pyrethroid exposure and RA among US adults. A restricted cubic spline plot (three knots) was applied to test whether there was a nonlinear relationship between exposure to pyrethroid pesticides and the prevalence of RA. Finally, 4384 subjects were included in our analysis with 278 RA patients. In crude model, higher level of 3-PBA (creatinine-adjusted) was positively associated with RA (OR 1.51, 95% CI 1.07, 2.15). After adjustment for sex, race/ethnicity, education, body mass index, family poverty income, level of education, marital status, smoking status, alcohol usage, physical activity, hypertension, and urinary creatinine, the highest (vs lowest) quartile of 3-PBA was associated with an increased prevalence of RA (OR 1.23, 95% CI 0.86, 1.79). Significantly positive associations between 3-PBA concentration and RA were observed in the population aged between 40 and 59 years and with lower level of education. The restricted cubic spline plot presented an increase in trend and indicated that pyrethroid exposure was linearly associated with occurrence of RA (p for nonlinearity = 0.728). In conclusion, our study indicated that pyrethroid pesticide exposure was associated with an increased risk of RA. Higher levels of pyrethroid exposure were linearly associated with increased prevalence of RA in adults. Certainly, our findings are in great need of further corroboration by prospective studies with strict design.Recognizing that innovation in renewable energy generation is an effective way to improve sustainable energy generation, the government and industries in the G7 states have invested heavily in the development of novel green technologies related to ocean energy generation. Irrespective of this, the existing literature has failed to explore the nexus between innovation in innovation in ocean generation-related technologies (IOEGT) and carbon dioxide emissions (CO2e). This paper contributes to the environmental economics by looking at the linkage between IOEGT and CO2e, with the international collaboration in green technology development (ICGTD), gross domestic product per capita (GDPPC), expansionary monetary policy (EMP), expansionary commercial policy (ECM), contractionary monetary policy (CMP), renewable energy consumption (REC), and contractionary commercial policy (ECM) in the G7 states from 1990 to 2020. The Westerlund and Edgerton (2008) test validated the long-run association among IOEGT, EMP, ECM, ICGTD, CMP, REC, ECM, GDPPC, and CO2e. The cross-sectional-autoregressive-distributed lag estimators found the following main findings. First, IOEGT is a helpful tool for reducing CO2e. Second, ICGTD and REC were associated with a lower level of CO2e. Third, EMP and ECP contribute to an increase in carbon emissions. However, CCP and CMP are essential to the long-term reduction of CO2e. Fourthly, GDPPC exacerbates the negative effects of CO2e.European Association of Spa Rehabilitation (ESPA) recommends spa rehabilitation for patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. We tested the hypothesis that a high-altitude environment with clean air and targeted spa rehabilitation (MR - mountain spa rehabilitation) can contribute to the improving platelet mitochondrial bioenergetics, to accelerating patient health and to the reducing socioeconomic problems. Fifteen healthy volunteers and fourteen patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome were included in the study. All parameters were determined before MR (MR1) and 16-18 days after MR (MR2). Platelet mitochondrial respiration and OXPHOS were evaluated using high resolution respirometry method, coenzyme Q10 level was determined by HPLC, and concentration of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) as a parameter of lipid peroxidation was determined spectrophotometrically. This pilot study showed significant improvement of clinical symptoms, lungs function, and regeneration of reduced CI-linked platelet mitochondrial respiration after MR in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. High-altitude environment with spa rehabilitation can be recommended for the acceleration of recovery of patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. One of the ways to fight against global warming is by means of green technological progress. This paper explores the nonlinear relationship between R&D investment and green technological progress based on panel threshold regression model using panel data of 26 manufacturing sub-sectors in China from 2004 to 2017. The results show that the double-threshold model can better explain the nonlinear relationship between the two, and the R&D investment in the three ranges of low, medium, and high levels can significantly promote green technological progress in China's manufacturing industry. However, with the improvement of R&D investment level, the promotion effect of R&D investment on the progress of manufacturing green technology is decreasing, which explains the low R&D intensity of China's manufacturing industry to a certain extent. When the level of R&D investment reaches a certain level, its promoting effect on manufacturing industry's green technological progress will be greatly reduced, and the motivation of enterprises to invest in R&D based on self-interest will decrease, so that the scale of R&D investment will be lower than the optimal scale of society. R&D investment can also improve green technical efficiency change. In addition, environmental regulation can promote green technological progress in manufacturing industry. However, due to the implementation of output-oriented environmental regulation policies, China's environmental regulation can inhibit the improvement of green technical efficiency change. Based on the conclusion, this paper argues that China should implement differentiated R&D subsidy policies for manufacturing enterprises, especially to increase R&D subsidies for enterprises with a medium level of R&D investment, and formulate appropriate environmental regulatory policies, to promote green and low-carbon transformation of China's manufacturing sector.
