Chaihu Shugan San (CSS) is a common antidepressant prescription in traditional Chinese medicines. However, its active ingredients and mechanisms are unknown. The aim of this study was to explore the potential active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms of CSS for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD).

Active compounds in CSS were screened using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database. Compound-related targets were retrieved using the SwissTargetPrediction database. MDD-related targets were determined using DisGeNET, Therapeutic Target Database and DrugBank databases. The common targets of active compounds in CSS and MDD were retained to construct a compound-MDD target network. Then, functional enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction analysis were performed to identify hub targets and explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. Finally, hub-targeted genes and pathways were validated by Western blotting and immunofluorescence using chronic unpredictable me results might provide valuable guidance for further studies of MDD treatment.
This network pharmacological and experimental study highlights that the PI3K/AKT pathway is the potential mechanism by which CSS is involved in MDD treatment. Quercetin, luteolin, and kaempferol are probable active compounds in CSS, and these results might provide valuable guidance for further studies of MDD treatment.
To compare refractive outcomes after phacoemulsification and toric IOL implantation using two different toric calculators for initial astigmatism assessment in a real-world setting.

This was a retrospective, comparative, interventional case series. Patients over 30-year-old who underwent phacoemulsification and toric IOL implantation (AcrySof
Toric IOL) by the same surgeon between 2017 and 2018 were included. Eyes with irregular astigmatism, previous corneal refractive surgery, intraocular surgery, corneal pathology, macular pathology and pupil abnormalities were excluded. IOL toricity was determined by using a calculator provided by the AcrySof Toric calculator before 2018 and Barrett Toric Calculator after 2018. Patient demographics, corneal topography, vector and preoperative and postoperative refraction were collected and analyzed at three months postoperative.

To assess risk factors and associated outcomes of acute kidney injury (AKI) in hip fracture patients.

Risk factors for AKI were identified by multivariate logistic regression. AKI patients were matched to patients who did not experience AKI using a validated trauma triage score. Comparative analyses between matched groups were performed.

Risk factors of AKI included increasing Charlson Comorbidity Index and use of anticoagulation medications. AKI was associated with increased likelihood of medical complications and longer, more costly hospital stays.

We describe one such case where a patient on treatment for prostate cancer presented with a right scrotal swelling. For restaging, whole-body 68-gallium prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) was performed. Fused PET/CT images demonstrated intense uptake in the testicular lesion. Unique anatomic and functional information provided by hybrid PET/CT helped in reliably establishing the testicular mass as the site of metastases from prostate cancer, which had a major impact on patient management.Diffuse osteoblastic activity in the ribs on bone scan is seen in association with pleural thickening. The causative association was revealed with the strong positivity of antineuronal antibody. Because of the multidisciplinary team approach with surgery and adjuvant endocrine treatment, the patient did improve symptomatically and she is alive without any evidence of disease after 22 months following the initial diagnosis of the neurological disorder. Interestingly, neurological symptoms regressed partially after surgery. Early recognition and appropriate combined modality treatment of this rare presentation of breast cancer are imperative as it may be crucial for the disease outcome.We describe the Ga-68 DOTATATE positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) findings of a 51-year-old man, operated for right esthesioneuroblastoma. Postoperative Ga-68 DOTATATE PET/CT revealed focal uptake anterior to sphenoid ostium on the right paramedian side, suspicious for residual disease. Magnetic resonance imaging showed an enhancing lesion in posterosuperior nasal cavity on the right side extending into the right sphenoid sinus. He underwent re-surgery and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. The histopathology revealed residual olfactory neuroblastoma. The follow-up Ga-68 DOTATATE PET/CT was negative. This case emphasizes the role of Ga-68 DOTATATE PET/CT in the management, especially in residual or recurrent disease and potential radiotheranostics for these rare tumors.Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related kidney disease is a relatively rare clinical entity and usually occurs as an extra-pancreatic manifestation of IgG4-related autoimmune pancreatitis. We present a rare case of an operated primary angiosarcoma of the right breast in a 20-year-old female who showed disease recurrence in the right posterior arm subcutaneous tissue on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography after 1 year of surgery without any other visceral metastasis.Krukenberg tumor (KT) is a rare clinical entity with a mysterious origin. It originates most commonly from adenocarcinoma of the stomach. We present an interestingly rare case of this entity in renal cell carcinoma, revealed by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan. Ovarian cancers with diffuse peritoneal metastasis were considered the differential diagnosis of the disease, based on PET/CT. The potential efficacy of this functional imaging for KT is still in the exploratory phase, but its applications in diagnosis, disease prognostication, therapeutic response monitoring, and follow-up recurrence detection are superior than other imaging modalities.Extraadrenal paragalionoma at multiple sites and its association with GIST is a rare finding. Although 18F-FDG PET-CT is not a modality of choice for primary diagnosis of paraganglioma, and its use is restricted for detection of metastases/multiple sites and disease staging. However, in this case that we describe here, its role in an already-proven/recurrent case of paraganglioma is emphasized by its simultaneous assessment of disease at several different sites.
