Alleviating Burnout within an Oncological Unit: A Scoping Assessment.
While cannabinoids may be of potential value in the treatment of anxiety disorders, the routine use of these treatments is not supported by the available evidence after correction for publication bias.Differential findings have been reported on the association between neighborhood greenness and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The underlying reasons might be the different types of vegetation and the diagnosis methods used in different studies. NaB inhibitor solubility dmso In this nationwide cross-sectional study in China, we examined the linkage between neighborhood greenness and COPD prevalence among 66,752 adults aged 40 years and above. Neighborhood greenness was estimated using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) based on satellite imagery within buffers of 100, 300, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 5000 m of residential community of the participants. COPD was defined according to the 2017 Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease lung function criteria. A two-level logistic regression model was applied to estimate the associations. Finally, 9134 adults were classified as COPD. We observed significant positive associations between neighborhood greenness and COPD prevalence. The odds ratio for each interquartile range increase in NDVI within 100 m buffer was 1.08 (95% CI 1.01, 1.15) after adjustment for potential confounders. Consistent associations were observed across all other NDVI buffer sizes. Stratified analyses revealed that younger adults (40-65 years) and urban residents might be the vulnerable subpopulations. link2 Further regional analyses found that residents from the Northeastern and Northern China were more likely to have this association. Our results indicated that neighborhood greenness might be one risk factor of COPD prevalence. Our study have important public health implications for allocating the surrounding green spaces among living areas, especially for those with respiratory illness; however, the findings and the underlying mechanisms warrant further examinations in longitudinal settings.
Colorectal cancer is the third most frequent tumor in males and the second in females worldwide. In Spain, it is an important and growing health problem, and epidemiologic research focused on potential risk factors, such as environmental exposures, is necessary.

To analyze the association between colorectal cancer risk and residential proximity to industries, according to pollution discharge route, industrial groups, categories of carcinogens and other toxic substances, and specific pollutants released, in the context of a population-based multicase-control study of incident cancer carried out in Spain (MCC-Spain).

MCC-Spain included 557 colorectal cancer cases and 2948 controls in 11 provinces, frequency matched by sex, age, and region of residence. Distances were computed from subjects' residences to each of the 134 industries located in the study area. Logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) for categories of distance (from 1km to 3km) to indushane (2.52; 1.74-3.66), and vanadium (2.49; 1.59-3.91).

Our results support the hypothesis that residing in the proximity of industries may be a risk factor for colorectal cancer.

High rates of motorization in urban areas of Africa have adverse effects on public health. Transport-related mortality will increase as a result of inadequate transport infrastructure, air pollution and sedentary lifestyles. Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) have proven to be a successful tool to predict and mitigate negative health impact of urban transport planning policies, programmes or projects. Yet, there is a gap of evidence on transport and health in African countries. The aim of this study is assessing the health impacts of transport scenarios in Port Louis (city of 119,018 inhabitants in Mauritius) using a full chain participatory HIA model.

We estimated health and economic impacts associated to transport scenarios with qualitative data and quantitative comparative risk assessment methods. The health impact modeling was based on differences between the baseline and three transport scenarios (worse, good, ideal), estimating the averted deaths per year and economic outcomes by assessing health deteort policies should aim to restrict all forms of private motorized vehicles and promote active and public transport to support public health. We highly recommend the use of participatory approaches in quantitative HIA to ensure context specificity and policy relevance. This study assessed the effectiveness of steam vacuum and carcass wash in decontaminating lamb carcasses by measuring Enterobacteriaceae, total viable counts (TVC), and visible contamination. In addition, different levels of fleece cleanliness and different line speeds were evaluated for each group. The sampling covered four groups i) control, ii) steam vacuum, iii) carcass wash, and iv) steam vacuum and carcass wash. A total of 660 surface swabs were collected i) before treatment, ii) after treatment, and iii) 24 h post chilling. The results showed that Enterobacteriaceae and TVC means were significantly lower (P less then 0.001) on the steam vacuum group compared to the other groups, both after treatment and after chilling. Conversely, the carcass wash was effective in removing visible contamination but not significant on microbial reduction. There was a significant difference (P less then 0.001) between line speeds on TVC means, but not on Enterobacteriaceae means. Cat 3 unshorn lambs yielded carcasses with the lowest Enterobacteriaceae means, but with greatest TVC means and wool contamination.Ruminant meats contain ester and ether-linked phosphatidylcholines-(PC) and phosphatidylethanolamines-(PE) enriched with ω3 and ω6 polyunsaturated fatty acids-(PUFA) essential for human health and nutrition. Oxidative degradation of these lipids during grilling compromises meat quality and safety. The effect of marinades containing unfiltered session ales, herbs and spices on these lipids in grilled beef and moose meat was investigated in current study. Marination preserved (P  less then  0.05) ester and ether linked PUFA-enriched PC and PE in moose, and PUFA-enriched ether PC and diacyl PE in beef against oxidative degradation. Furthermore, India ale-based marinated meats retained higher (P  less then  0.05) PUFA-enriched lysophosphatidylcholines-(LPC) and lysophosphatidylethanolamines-(LPE) compared to Wheat ale-based marinated meats. The preserved PUFA-enriched lipids were positively correlated with phenolics, oxygenated terpenes, and antioxidants present in the marinades, and negatively correlated to oxidation status. These findings appear to suggest that unfiltered beer-based marination could be a useful precooking technique to increase dietary access and consumption of essential fatty acids while preserving grilled meat nutritional quality and safety.Lung cancer is one of the most malignant tumors that can form in the human. link3 MicroRNAs (MiRNAs) play significant role in tumor progression. Human lung cancer tissues and cell lines were used to determine miR-150-5p respectively, and Liver Kinase B1 (LKB1) expression using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). The data analysis website Kaplan-Meier Plotter (database obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas) was used to perform a survival analysis with LKB1 levels. Using the appropriate assays, the function of miR-150-5p was also detected in cellular proliferation, migration and cell apoptosis as well as cell cycle. Results revealed that miR-150-5p was upregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue and cell lines. In NSCLC, miR-150-5p promoted cellular proliferation and migration, but decreased cellular apoptosis. Conversely, miR-150-5p inhibition suppressed cellular growth. These results further revealed a network of cellular signaling for miR-150-5p to target LKB1. Ectopic expression of LKB1 can mitigate the tumor-promoting function of miR-150-5p. Collectively, these results indicated that miR-150-5p may promote lung cancer by inhibiting the suppressor gene LKB1 in NSCLC.
Few studies have evaluated associations between birth defects and risk of pediatric cancers by age of attainment. Therefore, we assessed the risk of cancer among children with and without birth defects by age at attainment.

We examined cancer risk in children ≤14 years with and without birth defects born between 1996 and 2011 by linking data from the Arkansas Reproductive Health Monitoring System, Arkansas Central Cancer Registry, and birth certificates. Age of attainment for cancer was calculated as person-years from birth to cancer diagnosis, death, or end of study period, whichever occurred first. Using Cox proportional hazards models, we evaluated associations by attained age groups (<1, 1-4, 5-9, and 10-14 years) between (1) groups of birth defects (any, chromosomal, and non-chromosomal) and any cancer; (2) non-chromosomal birth defects by organ system and any cancer; and (3) non-chromosomal birth defects and subtypes of cancer.

In the cohort of 629,086 children, 23,341 (3.7%) children had birth defects and 1,037 (0.2%) children had cancer. For children with non-chromosomal birth defects, specifically cardiovascular and genitourinary, highest risk of any cancer was observed in first year of life (Hazard Ratio [HR] 18.5; 95% confidence interval [CI] 10.1-33.8). For children with chromosomal birth defects, increased cancer risk was observed among those 1-4 years-old (HR 20.0; 95% CI 8.3-48.4).

Overall, cancer risk among children with birth defects was highest among those <5 years-old. Our findings, consistent with previous studies, may inform surveillance strategies for children with birth defects.

Healthcare workers, particularly those working in departments that provide care for patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), are at a higher risk of this contagious disease than those who work in other departments. The aim of this study was to assess the psychological status of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 outbreak, which has compounded Libya's existing civil war-related problems.

A multi-center cross-sectional survey on depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and abuse was conducted. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to measure the prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms among healthcare workers.

The data of 745 eligible healthcare workers from 15 hospitals were analyzed. Depressive and anxiety symptoms were compared to the basic characteristics of the participants to determine the association. A total of 420 (56.3%) participants had depressive symptoms, while 348 (46.7%) had anxiety symptoms. Age, residency status, department, stigmatization, and living in a conflict zone were significantly associated with depressive symptoms. Age, department, years of experience, working hours per week, internal displacement, stigmatization, living in a conflict zone, and verbal abuse were significantly associated with anxiety symptoms.

Our study presents important findings regarding depressive, anxiety symptoms, and abuse among physicians providing care during the COVID-19 outbreak and civil war in Libya. It also demonstrates several factors that can be associated with depressive and anxiety symptoms in this population.
