A better understanding of the factors affecting client engagement in hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs), and which types of client needs prove most challenging to achieve, may be of key importance in developing novel, targeted strategies to violence intervention. In this study, we examined the demographics and injury characteristics of violently injured patients by their level of engagement with the Boston Violence Intervention Advocacy Program (VIAP) and determined the degree of client goal achievement through VIAP client services.

This retrospective study was performed using a cohort of patients presenting to the Boston Medical Center emergency department for a violent penetrating injury due to community violence between 2013 and 2018. Data on client demographics, injury characteristics, and client needs were collected from the VIAP data repository. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals to assess the differencering the life course for victims of violence.
This study demonstrates that VIAP is effectively engaging the client population that HVIPs have been designed to support. HVIPs should consider novel strategies to engage vulnerable populations not typically targeted by intervention programs. These results speak to the difficulties of program attrition and the complexities of altering the life course for victims of violence.
This study aimed to determine the prevalence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) according to the DSM-IV and DSM-V criteria using the premenstrual symptoms screening tool (PSST) in young Turkish women aged 15-24 years.

This descriptive study included 760 Turkish female students in Izmir.

The prevalence of PMS was 61.1% and 26.1and that of PMDD was 20.4% and 10.0%, based on the DSM-IV and DSM-V criteria using PSST, respectively. In the PMDD category, the most common symptoms were anger/irritability (97.4%). PMS/PMDD prevalence is common in young women, especially in adolescents, and PMDD prevalence was alarmingly high.

Macroplastics can cause entanglement, ingestion and loss of suitable habitats. In addition to entanglement problems, there is evidence that plastics are entering the food web through ingestion by marine organisms, which could ultimately be affecting humans. Much of the available information on the impact of plastic in biota is scattered and disconnected due to the use of different methodologies. Here, we review the variety of approaches and protocols followed to assess macro- and microplastic ingestion in marine vertebrates such as sea turtles, cetaceans and fishes in order to offer a global overview of their current status. The local depth dose gradient and the displacement correction factor for Farmer-type ionization chambers are quantified for reference dosimetry at shallow depth in single-layer scanned proton fields.

Integrated radial profiles as a function of depth (IRPDs) measured at three proton therapy centers were smoothed by polynomial fits. The local relative depth dose gradient at measurement depths from 1 to 5cm were derived from the derivatives of those fits. To calculate displacement correction factors, the best estimate of the effective point of measurement was derived from reviewing experimental and theoretical determinations reported in the literature. Displacement correction factors for the use of Farmer-type ionization chambers with their reference point (at the center of the cavity volume) positioned at the measurement depth were derived as a ratio of IRPD values at the measurement depth and at the effective point of measurement.

Depth dose gradients are as low as 0.1-0.4% per mm at measurement depths fleast 15cm.
The literature review confirmed that for proton beams the effective point of measurement of Farmer-type ionization chambers is located 0.75 times the cavity radius closer to the beam origin as the center of the cavity. Based on the findings in this work, three options can be recommended for reference dosimetry of scanned proton beams using Farmer-type ionization chambers (a) positioning the effective point of measurement at the measurement depth, (b) positioning the reference point at the measurement depth and applying a displacement correction factor, and (c) positioning the reference point at the measurement depth without applying a displacement correction factor. Based on limiting the acceptable uncertainty on the gradient correction factor to 0.5% and the maximum deviation of the displacement perturbation correction factor from unity to 2%, the first two options can be allowed for residual ranges of at least 4 cm while the third option only for residual ranges of at least 15 cm.
This study investigates individuals' health perceptions and health anxiety within the framework of functional health patterns (FHP) during COVID-19 pandemic.

This study is a descriptive and cross-sectional design. Data were collected from participants (n = 3464) through a three-part web-based form.

Individuals' health anxiety and perceptions are at a medium level. The participants' health perception and health anxiety scale mean scores demonstrated significant differences according to the FHP except for sexuality.

It can be stated that individuals use the anxiety they experience to be vigilance against a potential health threat.
