A metaheuristic calibration, through a Pareto based multi-objective particle swarm optimization (PSO), is used to automatically calibrate the model with data from the Capivari reservoir (southern Brazil). Two types of calibration are implemented (1) with carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) flux, and carbon stock changes, and (2) with synthetic data based on a solution selected from (1). The calibration's performance was assessed by Nash-Sutcliffe and root means squared errors. Three synthetic scenarios are used to analyze the data distribution influence on calibration and GHG fluxes output. The results show that the spread of solutions is higher when the model is calibrated with less data (using only measured values) when compared to the ones obtained from the synthetic data series. Although there are differences between solutions calibrated with different scenarios, all of them characterized the reservoir, through the Global Warming Potential index (GWP), as a sinkhole of equivalent CO2. Moreover, the similarity among accumulated probability distribution obtained from those different scenarios, suggest that the model can be calibrated regardless of the temporal scopes of measurements.Logistics industry, as one of the industries with high carbon emissions, has become the focus of all parties while developing rapidly. Based on panel data, the total carbon emissions of logistics industry in China from 2000 to 2016 were calculated by using IPCC method. On this basis, the LMDI decomposition model is used to decompose the influencing factors of carbon emission from five aspects carbon emission coefficient, energy intensity, energy structure, economic level and population size. Finally, using MATLAB tools to analyze the data. Results show that economic growth is the main factor to promote carbon emissions in logistics industry, followed by the positive impact of population size and energy structure. The carbon factor effect is negligible, energy intensity is the main restraining factor. The effect of various factors on carbon emissions varies from time to time. Therefore, we should speed up the adjustment of energy structure, reduce the dependence on high‑carbon emissions such as coal, optimize transportation system and improve logistics efficiency; at the same time, strengthen the cooperation between the government and enterprises, formulate feasible policies and measures, and do a good job in top-level planning and design of logistics, make our logistics industry embark on the road of low-carbon development.Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug known to have anticancer activity by inhibiting mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR); however, other molecular mechanisms may also be involved. In this study, we examined the effects of metformin on the activity of receptor tyrosine kinases of the TAM (TYRO3, AXL, and MERTK) family, which have important roles in leukemia cell growth. The results indicated that metformin suppressed the in vitro growth of four leukemia cell lines, OCI/AML2, OCI/AML3, THP-1, and K562, in a dose-dependent manner, which corresponded to the downregulation of the expression and phosphorylation of AXL and inhibition of its downstream targets such as phosphorylation of STAT3. Furthermore, metformin augmented the suppressive effects of a small-molecule AXL inhibitor TP-0903 on the growth of OCI/AML3 and K562 cells and prevented doxorubicin-induced AXL activation in K562 cells, which induces chemoresistance in leukemia cells, thus potentiating doxorubicin anti-proliferative effects. Given that metformin also downregulated expression of TYRO3 and phosphorylation of MERTK, these findings indicate that anti-leukemic effects exerted by metformin could be partly due to the inhibition of TAM kinases. Thus, metformin has a clinical potential for patients with leukemia cells positive for AXL and the other TAM proteins as well as activated mTOR.Objectives Periostin is secreted from the placenta in the embryonic period and it is emphasized that it may be involved in endometrial implantation. In this study, we aimed to investigate periostin serum levels and placental tissue expression in first trimester pregnancy losses. Study design In this prospective case-control study, 30 patients who underwent dilatation and curettage with first trimester spontaneous abortion ( less then 10 weeks of gestation) were included in the study group and 30 patients who had voluntary pregnancy termination ( less then 10 gestational weeks) were included in the control group. Serum samples collected from the study and control groups were analyzed usingenzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA), and trophoblastic and decidual tissues were examined using immunohistochemical staining with streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase techniques. Results There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of age, gravida status, parity number, gestational week, and number of previous abortions. In the spontaneous abortion group, the serum level of periostin was significantly lower than in the voluntary termination group (6.56 ± 4.16 pg/mLvs. 9.51 ± 4.52 pg/mL, p = 0.03). Ruboxistaurin There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of periostin expression in decidual and trophoblastic tissue (p = 0.617, p = 0.274, p = 0.497). Conclusion Periostin serum levels were significantly reduced in patients with spontaneous pregnancy loss. The aim of the study was to compare serum and urine concentrations of PIBF in women with successful pregnancy after IVF with those of women without pregnancy after IVF procedure, and to evaluate the potential relation between PIBF and the outcome of pregnancy. Urine and serum were collected from 120 women, undergoing IVF. 87.5% of patients had primary infertility. 69.2% faced female causes of infertility 10.8% tubal cause, 11.7% ovulation disorder, and 46.7% other causes of infertility. 30.8% of patients had male factor of infertility.
