ical settings are needed to verify the current results and continue the exploration of this topic.
In the treatment of acute diarrhea in children, the addition of probiotics can shorten the duration of diarrhea, increase treatment efficacy after 2 days of treatment, and shorten the length of hospital stay. However, because of possible publication bias in the current study, further high-quality RCT studies in clinical settings are needed to verify the current results and continue the exploration of this topic.
Circulating RNAs (Circ-RNAs) are tightly related to the processes of neuroblastoma. The circ-ACAP2 has been reported as dysregulated in various cancers; however, its biological roles and mechanisms in neuroblastoma remain largely unclear.
We collected 40 neuroblastoma tissues and adjacent noncancerous tissues. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-RCR) or western blot were used to examine ACAP2, miR-143-3p, and HK2 abundances. Cell migration, invasion, glycolysis, and apoptosis were assessed via wound healing, transwell, glucose uptake and lactate, 3-(4,5-diamethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, and flow cytometry. The association between circRNA, microRNA (miRNA), and messenger RNA (mRNA) was examined by dual-luciferase reporter analysis and RNA immunoprecipitation.
The abundances of ACAP2 and HK2 were remarkedly increased in neuroblastoma tissues and cell lines. Silencing ACAP2 significantly constrained neuroblastoma cell migration, invasion, and glycolysis, and promoted apoptosis. Bioinformatics prediction, luciferase assay, and RNA pull-down assay consistently demonstrated that ACAP2 sponged miR-143-3p to downregulate its expression in neuroblastoma cells. Furthermore, we identified that hexokinase 2, a glycolysis key enzyme, was a direct target of miR-143-3p in neuroblastoma cells. Rescue of miR-143-3p in ACAP2-overexpressing cells effectively mitigated the influence of ACAP2 on neuroblastoma cell processes.
Our study revealed biological roles and molecular mechanisms for circ-ACAP2 in the oncogenic characteristics of neuroblastoma, facilitating the development of circRNA-based treatment approaches for anti-brain tumor therapy.

Real-time shear wave elastography (SWE) is non-invasive and reliable for quantitatively evaluate stiffness of tissues and organs. Until now, little researches have applied SWE to evaluate brain tissue of premature neonates. This study sought to compare differences in the average brain tissue elasticity modulus (Emean) values of neonates, and explore the factors affecting these differences.
In total, 159 neonates admitted from December 2019 to February 2021 were taken as the study subjects and divided into 2 groups based on their time of birth. Premature neonates, full-term neonates, and neonates with neonatal pneumonia were included in this study. Of the 159 neonates, 76 were premature and 83 were full-term. SWE was used to quantitatively evaluate the Emean of bilateral paraventricular white matter, thalamus, and choroid, and to analyze the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and Emeans in both groups of neonates.
The Emeans of the paraventricular white matter, thalamus, and choroid of the premature neonates were lower than those of the full-term neonates (P<0.001). The BMI of the premature and full-term neonates was positively correlated to the bilateral paraventricular white matter, thalamus, and choroid Emean.
SWE can be used to quantitatively evaluate the brain tissue stiffness of neonates, and as a reference for neonatal brain-related diseases.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a common and unique chronic disease of premature infants with a high mortality rate. A large number of studies have shown that vitamin A supplementation has a better effect on the prevention and treatment of BPD.
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on early vitamin A supplementation for the prevention and treatment of BPD were searched in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library database. The search time was from the establishment of the database to July 28, 2021. Two investigators performed standard independent screening trials of the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The methodology of the included articles was evaluated, and the data were extracted. If the opinions of the 2 investigators were not consistent, a third party could be consulted. The Cochrane systematic review manual was used to analyze the bias of the included studies, and the RevMan 5.3 software was used to perform the meta-analysis.
In the experimental group, the BPD incidence [-0.71, 95% confidential interval (CI) -0.34 to -0.00; Z=1.98; P=0.05], 28-day oxygen uptake rate (0.81, 95% CI 0.38-1.730; Z=0.53; P=0.59), 36-week survival rate (1.08, 95% CI 0.80-1.46; Z=0.49; P=0.62), incidence of patent ductus arteriosus (0.77, 95% CI 0.27-2.21; Z=0.48; P=0.63), days of mechanical ventilation (0.02, 95% CI -1.46-1.49; Z=0.02; P=0.98), and 28-day ventilator use (0.77, 95% CI 0.31-1.92; Z=0.55; P=0.58) were lower than those in the control group, especially the incidence of BPD.
Early supplementation of vitamin A showed good efficacy and safety in the prevention and treatment of BPD in premature infants, and can also improve the survival rate of infants. Therefore, it is worthy of clinical application.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the most common type of childhood cardiomyopathy and uric acid (UA) is considered closely associated with cardiovascular disease. There are few reports about the relationship between serum UA level and DCM in children, and the present study aimed to analyze the changes and clinical correlation of the two.
The clinical data of 49 children under 16 years old and who were hospitalized with DCM, and 44 healthy children who underwent physical examination in the same period at Tianjin Children's Hospital from June 2015 to November 2019 were analyzed retrospectively.
The 49 children in the case group included 17 males and 32 females, aged from 2 to 172 months. The case group were divided into New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class I (n=2), class II (n=17), class III (n=11), and class IV (n=19). The 44 healthy children selected as the control group included 20 males and 24 females aged from 2 to 161 months. The serum UA level was detected, and an ultrasonic cardiogramlass and ultrasonic values. Change in serum UA levels may be used as a biomarker reflecting the severity of DCM in children.
Elevated serum UA levels exist in children with DCM and correlate with NYHA functional class and ultrasonic values. Change in serum UA levels may be used as a biomarker reflecting the severity of DCM in children.
Particular factors before and after delivery can cause neurological damage to the fetus or newborn. Rougan Tongdu Tuina combined with point-pressing massage therapy (RTPM) can effectively stimulate the meridians and acupoints, and achieve the therapeutic effects of refreshing, resuscitating, and strengthening the brain and improving cognition. In this study, RTPM was used in the neonatal period, and quality evaluation results of general movements (GMs) were used to monitor the effect of this method on neurodevelopmental outcomes of children.
Children who were born in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from 1 March 2017 to 29 February 2020 were retrospectively enrolled. All newborns were assessed for the quality of GMs. Children in the RTPM group received RTPM, and the control group received conventional massage and point-pressing. A 20-day period constituted a round of treatment, each round was 20 days apart, and there were 3 rounds in total. kira6 chemical structure The study partP<0.05).
The application of RTPM in the neonatal period can significantly improve the neurodevelopment of children.

This study aimed to analyze the angiographic characteristics of kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) and investigate the value of transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) therapy.
The clinical data of infants diagnosed with KHE at the department from June 2013 to June 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Of these, 34 infants received TAE therapy. The efficacy of the treatment was evaluated 4 weeks after the therapy. The angiographic characteristics were analyzed by comparing them with the angiographic characteristics of infantile hemangioma (IH), and the times of TAE therapy and the platelet level after each TAE therapy in infants with KHE were summarized.
The present study showed that the capillary blush of KHE was irregular with an obscure boundary and nonuniform distribution. Many fine feeding arteries were present. The diameter of the feeding arteries was disproportionate to the volume of the tumor blush. The normal arteries were usually embedded in the tumor blush. The angiography of common IH in infants also showed tumor blush, but it was usually round with a clear boundary and uniform staining, and was distributed on 1 side of the normal arterial trunk. The infants with KHE received TAE therapy for 2 to 5 times/case, with a total of 104.0 times, with an average of 3.1±0.8/case. Among which, the platelets continued to decline for 9 times after TAE therapy and the platelets increased to ≥100×10
/L in 7.8±3.2 days for 95 times after TAE therapy, The average relapse time was 30.0±15.9 days.
The feeding arteries of KHE were numerous and fine and were not easily embolized. The application of TAE may rapidly improve the platelet level, but the long-term effect is poor.

To evaluate the risk factors of primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) with urinary tract infection (UTI) in children.
Multiple databases including PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Web of Science (WOS), the Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were used to search for relevant studies, which were full-text articles involved in the evaluation of differences between PNS with UTI and without UTI. All included articles were assessed for quality and the data analyses were conducted with Review Manager (5.4). Forest plots, sensitivity analysis, and bias analysis were also performed on the included articles.
Eight studies were included in this meta-analysis, with a total of 3,274 patients. Meta-analysis showed that a low level of serum albumin [mean difference (MD) -0.32 g/dL; 95% confidence interval (CI) (-0.55, -0.08); P=0.008], a low level of serum total protein [MD -0.16 g/dL; 95% CI (-0.20, -0.12); P<0.00001], a high level of urinary protein [MD 5.09 mg/d; 95% CI (3.13, 7.
