Purpose Social work (SW) is a profession that fulfills important roles on integrated health teams, yet there remains a lack of clarity on SW's functions. The current study sought to identify typologies of SW's roles on integrated care teams using latent class analysis (LCA).Method An electronic survey was developed, piloted, and administered to Masters level SW students and practitioners in integrated health care settings (N = 395) regarding weekly use of interventions. LCA was conducted to estimate latent sub-groups of respondents. Results Respondents reported an average of 14.6 (SD = 4.7) interventions. Five classes of SW roles were identified and varied by setting and focus. One class (13%) completed a hybrid function providing behavioral health and social care interventions. Conclusions Classes of SW roles on teams may reflect varying models of integrated care. A flexible SW on the team may adapt to patient and clinic needs, but increases the opportunity for role confusion.
To assess the effect of oral supplementation with fully oxidised β-carotene (OxBC) on bacteriological cure, the incidence of clinical mastitis, and somatic cell counts (SCC) in pasture-fed cows with subclinical intramammary infection.
Cows from four dairy herds were enrolled in early lactation if they had quarter-level SCC >200,000 cells/mL and they had a recognised bacterial intramammary pathogen in one or more quarters. They were randomly assigned to be individually fed from Day 0, for a mean of 40 days, with 0.5 kg of a cereal-based supplementary feed that either contained 300 mg of OxBC (treatment; n = 129 quarters) or did not (control; n = 135 quarters). Quarter-milk samples were collected on Days 21 and 42 for microbiology and SCC assessment. Bacteriological cure was defined as having occurred when the bacteria present on Day 0 were not isolated from samples collected on Days 21 or 42. A new intramammary infection was defined as a bacterial species isolated either on Day 21 or 42 differing from t(p = 0.34).
Feeding 300 mg/cow/day of OxBC resulted in a higher bacteriological cure rate, a lower prevalence of intramammary infection, and a lower incidence of clinical mastitis compared to untreated controls. However new intramammary infections increased in treated cows, and the magnitude of the increased bacteriological cure was low, resulting in 80% of cows remaining infected at Day 42. Therefore treatment with OxBC should be considered as an adjunct to other mastitis control measures.

A total of 130 adolescents (65 females;15.3 ± 1.5 years) wore an activPAL accelerometer to determine total moderate PA (MPA), vigorous PA (VPA) and moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) during a seven-day measurement period, including during GF. The PA measurement was completed at "preseason" (T1) and "in-season" (T2) timepoints. Between T1 and T2, females significantly increased time spent in MVPA daily (p 0.05). The results suggest that the change in daily PA levels by females is a consequence of increased MVPA during GF and reduced PA barriers across the season.A large amount of waste activated sludge (WAS) harms the ecological environment, and anaerobic digestion (AD) is an effective method for WAS treatment. In this study, activated carbon (AC)/ nano zero-valent iron (NZVI) was synthesized by a liquid-phase reduction method, and was used to boost methane production. The associated mechanisms and effects of additives on AD during the addition and removal stage were investigated systematically. Compared to the blank group, the cumulative methane production was increased by 14.3%, 26.3% and 34.1% in the groups of AC, NZVI and AC/NZVI, respectively. The addition of AC/NZVI significantly increased the concentration of VFAs and promoted the hydrolysis and acidification of WAS. After the AD of the additives addition stage was finished, the additives were removed and the sludge was replenished in all groups, the methanogenesis performance of the experimental groups was significantly inhibited. The cumulative methane production in the AC and AC/NZVI groups was 21.7% and 13.5% lower than the blank group, respectively. The experimental results have a good correlation with curve fitting by the modified Gompertz model. The modified Gompertz model found that AC, NZVI and AC/NZVI increased the methanogenic potential and maximum methane production rate of WAS, but also prolonged the lag-phase time. AC/NZVI might play a role in coupling effects. It could not only maintain the original characteristics of NZVI and increase its stability, but also develop the advantages of AC promoting direct interspecies electron transfer. Microbial community analysis indicated that the abundance of hydrogenotrophic methanogens was enriched by AC/NZVI.Studies have consistently reported a decreased level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). The benefits of exercise on BDNF levels are well-documented in humans, however, the effects of acute exercise are inconclusive in neurological disorders. In addition, there are no studies investigating a precursor molecule - proBDNF - and its comparison to patients with vs. without depression or fatigue. Thirty patients with PD were instructed to walk on a treadmill at light to moderate intensity for 30 min. Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) showed a significant effect of time (pre- vs. post-exercise) when compared individuals with vs. without depression [Wald Chi Square (4.392), p = 0.036)] and with vs. without fatigue [Wald Chi Square (7.123), p = 0.008)] for mature BDNF (mBDNF) level. There was no effect of group, time, and group x time interaction for proBDNF level when compared individuals with vs. without depression or fatigue. The present study showed that a single bout of light to moderate-intensity exercise increases mBDNF serum levels in patients with PD regardless of depression and fatigue. Our finding is important because it is necessary investigate methods to enhance the gains made by rehabilitation, especially when considering a short period of rehabilitation in different health services. The increase in mBDNF level can lead to an enhancement of neuroplasticity and facilitate the improvement of motor performance. No effect on proBDNF level could be explained, as this precursor molecule is cleaved by intracellular or extracellular enzymes. Objective Suicide attempts and self-injurious behaviors (SIBs) are known to be elevated among people with bulimia nervosa (BN). The aim of the current study was to examine the Interpersonal-Psychological Theory of Suicide (IPTS) as a framework for understanding, assessing, and mitigating suicidal behavior among women with BN. The IPTS suggests that for individuals to enact lethal suicide attempts, they must have both the desire to die (consisting of thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness) as well as the capability to die (often acquired through repeated exposure to provocative or painful experiences).Method Two-hundred and four women with eating disorders, the majority of whom met criteria for a current DSM-IV diagnosis of BN, completed measures from which proxies for IPTS variables were formed. Bivariate correlations and multiple regressions tested main effects and interactions of study variables. Tests of the difference between dependent correlations probed differential associations between study variables and suicidal ideation versus suicidal behavior. Results and Conclusions Results yielded considerable but not unalloyed support for the theory, with desire to die variables (particularly perceived burdensomeness) more strongly associating with suicidal ideation than behavior, and the opposite holding true regarding capability. These findings suggest that the IPTS may provide a useful framework for understanding, assessing, and mitigating suicide risk among individuals with BN.ABSTRACTExergaming has been proposed as a promising alternative to traditional endurance training since many experience exergaming as more enjoyable. Therefore, the aim of this trial was to determine the exergaming-induced effect on cardiorespiratory fitness. This parallel-group randomised controlled trial, investigated the effects of regular exergaming among healthy adults (aged ≥ 18 years) who were not endurance-trained. check details Participants allocated to the exergaming group (n = 13) used the Playpulse exergaming platform for a minimum of 45 min twice weekly for eight weeks, whereas the control group (n = 17) received no intervention. The primary outcome measure was the between-group difference in peak oxygen uptake (V̇O2peak) after the intervention. V̇O2peak increased significantly from baseline (43.9 [SD 7.0]) to after the intervention (45.3 [SD 8.2] mL kg-1 min-1) in the exergaming group, compared to the control group (42.4 [SD 7.0] to 42.0 [SD 5.7] mL·kg-1·min-1) with a between-group difference of 2.1 mL kg-1 min-1 (95% CI 0.2-4.1; p = 0.04). The average score on the Feeling Scale reported during exergaming was 3.4 (95% CI 3.2-3.6), with 3 being "good" and 5 "very good" and was not related to the participants' exergaming skills. There were no adverse events during this trial. Two weekly sessions using the Playpulse exergaming platform can improve V̇O2peak. This finding suggests that exergaming can be an efficient form of endurance training. Furthermore, our findings indicate that participants' enjoyed exergaming irrespective of exergaming skills.Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT04112329..Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) encoded by IGHV3-53 (VH3-53) targeting the spike receptor-binding domain (RBD) have been isolated from different COVID-19 patients. However, the existence and prevalence of shared VH3-53-encoded antibodies in the antibody repertoires is not clear. Using antibody repertoire sequencing, we found that the usage of VH3-53 increased after SARS-CoV-2 infection. A highly shared VH3-53-J6 clonotype was identified in 9 out of 13 COVID-19 patients. This clonotype was derived from convergent gene rearrangements with few somatic hypermutations and was evolutionary conserved. We synthesized 34 repertoire-deduced novel VH3-53-J6 heavy chains and paired with a common IGKV1-9 light chain to produce recombinant mAbs. Most of these recombinant mAbs (23/34) possess RBD binding and virus-neutralizing activities, and recognize ACE2 binding site via the same molecular interface. Our computational analysis, validated by laboratory experiments, revealed that VH3-53 antibodies targeting RBD are commonly present in COVID-19 patients' antibody repertoires, indicating many people have germline-like precursor sequences to rapidly generate SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies.
