An underlying current of positive emotions (e.g., pride, camaraderie, patriotism) combined with mission-specific negative emotions (e.g., sadness related to witnessing pain, suffering, and/or loss of life; anxiety and stress related to uncertainty and unforeseeable events) were commonly reported. Twenty-one percent endorsed negative emotions that disrupted their daily functioning, and witnessing a civilian casualty increased risk by 217%. CONCLUSION DCGS analysts reported emotional responses similar to other remote warfighters but with proportional distributions that reflect their unique wartime roles and responsibilities. The heightened sense of responsibility associated with their wartime roles may elevate risk for negative emotional outcomes when adverse events, such as the death of a civilian, occur. Because BA addresses problematic avoidance behaviors, BA holds promise as a treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We conducted a meta-analysis of both randomized controlled trials and uncontrolled studies involving the use of BA for the treatment of PTSD. Outcomes of interest were PTSD symptoms, anxiety, depression, and grief. METHOD Meta-analyses included published studies in which BA served as the primary form of treatment for PTSD symptoms, whether PTSD was a primary or secondary outcome. Analyses were performed using Comprehensive Meta Analysis software with a random-effects model. RESULTS Eight studies (3 controlled, 5 uncontrolled) with a total sample size of 564 participants met final inclusion criteria. The primary analysis for controlled studies indicated a significant improvement in PTSD symptoms for BA compared with the case for wait-list control (Hedges's g = 1.484) and for uncontrolled (Hedges's g = 0.717) studies. Secondary analyses indicated improvement in anxiety, grief, and depression (Hedges's g ranging from 0.28 to 2.29). No significant difference in effectiveness was observed for BA versus 2 active treatment comparison conditions (cognitive processing therapy and Internet-guided exposure). Effect sizes were not moderated by treatment modality (in-person vs. remote delivery) or by use of completer versus intention-to-treat data. CONCLUSIONS BA appears to be effective for PTSD symptoms, but additional randomized controlled trials are needed to increase confidence in these findings. We provide information about how historical bias impacts HIV clinical decision-making now. In addition, we include an analysis of how public health definitions of intervention research have limited psychotherapy research-specifically the importance of common factors and process-oriented components in psychotherapy. In this introductory article, we highlight the 13 articles that comprise the 5 following sections included in the special issue (a) General Guidelines for Psychotherapy Practice for People With HIV, (b) HIV Stigma in Psychotherapy Process and Techniques, (c) Sexual Functioning and Romantic Relationships for People with HIV, (d) A Focus on Specific Disorders (Chronic Pain and Trauma) Comorbid With HIV, and (e) A Focus on Specific Populations (Adolescents and South African Populations). We conclude by offering recommendations to researchers to focus on the sociocultural context for clients with HIV and for psychotherapists to use an intersectional approach in their work with clients with HIV. Previous work has revealed that the ability to strategically encode high-value information may improve gradually over development, as the systems supporting cognitive control processes mature. However, studies of value-directed memory have relied on explicit cues that signal the importance of information, which are rarely present in real-world contexts. Here, we examined whether individuals across age groups could learn the relative frequency of items in their environment and prioritize memory for information associated with higher frequency items, which would ultimately enable them to earn more reward. We found that from childhood to early adulthood, individuals gained the ability to dynamically adjust memory based on the statistics of the environment (Experiment 1). In the absence of any relation between item frequency and the reward that could be earned for encoding related information, the increased exposure to higher frequency items did not facilitate associative memory (Experiment 2). Taken together, results from our two experiments suggest that the use of past experience to prioritize memory for high-value information strengthens with increasing age and is supported by the developing ability to derive explicit knowledge of the structure of the environment from experience. Despite this, very little empirical data exist concerning the SM information available to organizations or whether assessments of such information are a valid predictor of work outcomes. ALK inhibition This multistudy investigation examines several critical issues in this emerging area. In Study 1, we conducted a content analysis of job seekers' Facebook sites (n = 266) and found that these sites often provide demographic variables that U.S. employment laws typically prohibit organizations from using when making personnel decisions (e.g., age, ethnicity, and religion), as well as other personal information that is not work-related (e.g., sexual orientation, marital status). In Study 2 (n = 140), we examined whether job seekers' SM information is related to recruiter evaluations. Results revealed that various types of SM information correlated with recruiter judgments of hireability, including demographic variables (e.
