Cryotherapy is commonly used as ablative treatment of external genital warts (EGW). However, after cryotherapy recurrence of lesions affects on average 45% (42-70%) of subjects in the 6 months after the treatment. Sinecatechins 10% are an effective topical treatment of EGW. A low recurrence rate (<6%) was observed in pivotal phase 3 trials conducted with this product. Topical sinecatechins have demonstrated to significantly reduce the recurrence rate of EGW in subjects treated with laser therapy (The PACT-I trial). So far, no prospective data are available regarding the efficacy of sinecathechins as immunomodulator sequential therapy after cryotherapy in EGW subjects. The purpose of this study was to assess the rate of recurrence lesions after the use of topical sinecatechins 10%, as sequential proactive immunomodulation treatment after cryotherapy in subjects with EGW (The PACT-II Trial the postablation immunomodulator treatment of condylomata with sinecatechins trial) (Trial Registration number ISRCTN4ccessful cryotherapy using sinecatechins as immunomodulator sequential therapy is lower in comparison with the percentage documented in the literature without sequential therapy (20 vs. 45%). These results are in line with already published data evaluating the role of sinecatechins after laser therapy (PACT-I trial). Future comparative, double-blind controlled trials assessing the efficacy of different proactive strategies are warranted.
Tattooing is a popular practice worldwide, this practice is not free from complications and the last few decades have seen the raising occurrence of complications and adverse reactions.
The aim of this study is to evaluate which substances are commonly used as additives among a group of tattoo artists working in Florence, to understand if mixing of colors and dilution of inks can be considered a potential source of infection or hypersensitivity reaction. A questionnaire containing a list of substances suspected to be added during the process of tattooing, was administered in presence of an investigator.
Forty-one licensed tattoo artists participated in the study. The cosmetic most frequently used as additive, resulted a rinse on cosmetic (36%) followed by distilled water (34%) and hamamelis lotion (17%).
Our study provides new insights about the procedure of ink dilution and mixing of colors, shedding light on the possible risks related to the use of non-sterile products. The results of our study suggest that mixing of colors and ink dilution can be consider a potential source of infection and hypersensitivity reactions. Additional actions are necessary to strengthen and protect public health.

A wide variety of effects of irisin, as a myokine and adipokine, have been reported. Although there are some clues about its role in the modulation of immune response in the pathogenesis of immune-mediated diseases such as psoriasis, it has not yet been clearly elucidated. The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship of irisin levels with inflammation and insulin resistance in patients with psoriasis.
This study was conducted in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis and healthy subjects who were admitted to Haseki Training and Research Hospital. In addition to routine laboratory analyses, hs-CRP, insulin, irisin, adiponectin, and leptin levels were measured. The association between irisin levels and study variables was assessed using univariate and multivariate analyses.
A total of 42 non-diabetic patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis and 43 healthy subjects were enrolled. The mean irisin, waist circumference, insulin, insulin resistance, and hs-CRP, and frequency of metaboliated with inflammation, as measured by hs-CRP. More comprehensive studies are needed to clarify the effect of irisin, on immune-modulate response in patients with psoriasis.
Castleman disease (CD) is a rare disease also known as angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia. The two main histological subtypes are the hyaline vascular and plasma cell variants. It is further classified as unicentric CD (UCD) or multicentric CD (MCD) according to the anatomical distribution of the disease and the number of lymph nodes involved. The aim of this multicenter study was to evaluate all cases of CD identified to date in Turkey to set up a national registry to improve the early recognition, treatment, and follow-up of CD.
Both adult (n=130) and pediatric (n=10) patients with lymph node or involved field biopsy results reported as CD were included in the study. Patients’ demographic information, clinical and laboratory characteristics, imaging study results, treatment strategies, and clinical outcomes were evaluated retrospectively.
A total of 140 patients (69 male and 71 female) with a diagnosis of UCD (n=73) or MCD (n=67) were included. The mean age was 39 years in the UCD group and 47 yeae conclusions.
This study is important in presenting the patient characteristics and treatment strategies for CD from Turkey, with the potential of increasing awareness about CD. Treatment data may help in making decisions, particularly in countries that do not have access to siltuximab. However, larger prospective studies are needed to make definitive conclusions.
To investigate the characteristics and distribution of ocular dominance in primary open-angle glaucoma eyes. In addition, we tried to catch any trend of ocular dominance according to the stage of disease.
Two hundred participants with bilateral open-angle glaucoma underwent ocular dominant testing by "the hole-ina-card" test. Using optical coherence tomography, macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer, as well as circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness were measured and compared according to ocular dominance. Of the two eyes of one subject, the eye with less glaucomatous damage based on mean deviation was considered to be the "better eye" in our study.
Ocular dominance was in the right eye in 66% of the population and ocular dominance was positioned in the better eye in 70% of the population (p = 0.001 and p = 0.002, respectively). In conditional logistic regression analyses, right eye and better mean deviation were significantly associated with ocular dominance (p = 0.001 and p = 0.002, respectively). Ocular dominance tends to be present in the better eye and this trend was more apparent as the severity of glaucoma increased. Intereye comparison of visual field indices and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness between dominant versus nondominant eye become apparent in moderate and advanced glaucoma whereas it was not as apparent in early glaucoma.
In glaucomatous eyes, laterality and severity of glaucoma determined ocular dominance. Intereye difference between nondominant and dominant eyes increased with the severity of glaucoma. Our findings suggest the existence of potential reciprocal interactions between ocular dominance and glaucoma.

This study aims to report the efficacy and safety of one-snip punctoplasty and 18-gauge irrigation technique in patients with primary canaliculitis.
All patients diagnosed with primary canaliculitis between January 2020 and August 2021 at Inje University Busan Paik Hospital are included. All patients underwent one-snip punctoplasty and 18-gauge irrigation technique. After the procedure, patients had topical antibiotics. The resolution of symptoms and inflammatory signs and complications were evaluated 3 weeks after the procedure.
A total of 11 patients (eight female patients and three male patients, 14 canaliculi) aged 34 to 82 years with a mean age of 63.8 ± 15.7 years were participated. Common symptoms were epiphora, mucopurulent discharge, and injection, and common signs were discharge from punctum, pouting punctum, punctal erythema, and swellling. Among 14 canaliculi, 12 (85.7%) had complete resolution and two underwent second treatment which showed completed resolution after the treatment.
One-snip punctoplasty and 18-gauge irrigation technique are minimally invasive to punctum and canaliculi and are a highly effective surgical procedure for patients with primary canaliculitis.

However, MSCs gradually undergo replicative senescence after a variable number of divisions that reduce their therapeutic efficacy, which needs to be determined before administration. The authors developed a fast and simple evaluation assay testing two senescence inducers, mitoxantrone (Mxt) and trichostatin A (TSA), to predict the onset of spontaneous replicative senescence of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ASCs) and have confirmed the correlation between induced senescence and spontaneous replicative senescence in the assay using Mxt. This protocol facilitates the standardization of therapeutic ASCs and MSCs from other origins before application. We report the case of a five-month-old girl presenting with a subluxed left hip following normal neonatal clinical examination and serial ultrasound screening. Her only risk factor for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) was breech presentation. She underwent closed reduction with successful concentric reduction. This case demonstrates that hip subluxation can occur after normal ultrasound screening, and has important clinical and medicolegal implications. Consideration should be given to further follow-up in children with overt risk factors for DDH, even after normal ultrasound examination.Intrinsically disordered proteins play a key role in many biological processes, including the formation of biomolecular condensates within cells. A detailed characterization of their configurational ensemble and structure-function paradigm is crucial for understanding their biological activity and for exploiting them as building blocks in material sciences. Calcium folinate In this work, we incorporate bias-exchange metadynamics and parallel-tempering well-tempered metadynamics with CHARMM36m and CHARMM22* to explore the structural and thermodynamic characteristics of a short archetypal disordered sequence derived from a DEAD-box protein. The conformational landscapes emerging from our simulations are largely congruent across methods and force fields. Nevertheless, differences in fine details emerge from varying combinations of force-fields and sampling methods. For this protein, our analysis identifies features that help to explain the low propensity of this sequence to undergo self-association in vitro, which are common to all force-field/sampling method combinations.
