To determine the demographic and clinical characteristics of morphea patients with mucocutaneous lesions enrolled in the Morphea in Adults and Children Cohort (MAC).

4.6% of linear morphea patients had oral involvement versus 2.4% among the entire cohort while 10.3% of generalized morphea patients had genital involvement versus 3.7% among the entire cohort. Those with genital lesions had an older age of disease onset than oral morphea (57 versus 11.5 years old; p<0.001) and more frequent extragenital lichen sclerosus atrophicus (LSA) (59.2% versus 5.6%; p=0.004).

However, the toxicity of Bt proteins against yellow peach moth (YPM), Conogethes punctiferalis (Guenée), one of the most serious maize pests in China, has not received much study. Therefore, we performed diet-overlay bioassays to evaluate the insecticidal activities of Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac, Cry1Fa, Cry1Ah, Cry1Ie, Cry2Aa, and Vip3Aa19, as well as the interaction between Cry1-Class, Cry2Aa, and Vip3Aa19 against YPM. Results showed that the LC50 values ranged from 1.08 to 178.12 ng/cm2 (protein/diet). Among these proteins, Cry1Ab and Cry1Ac had lower LC50 values and LC90 values. In YPM bioassays, the combinations of Cry2Aa with Cry1Ac, Cry1Ie, and Cry1Ab showed antagonism while a mixture of Cry2Aa with Cry1Fa and Cry1Ah exhibited synergism. When Vip3Aa19 was combined with Cry proteins, all combinations interacted positively, with variation in synergistic factors (SF). Three ratios 11, 12, and 21 of Cry1Ah and Vip3Aa19 protein combination showed SF values of 5.20, 5.63, and 8.98, respectively. Here, we describe the anti-COVID-19 potential of PTC299, an orally bioavailable compound that is a potent inhibitor of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), the rate-limiting enzyme of the de novo pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis pathway. In tissue culture, PTC299 manifests robust, dose-dependent, and DHODH-dependent inhibition of SARS-COV-2 replication (EC50 range, 2.0-31.6 nM) with a selectivity index >3,800. PTC299 also blocked replication of other RNA viruses, including Ebola virus. Consistent with known DHODH requirements for immunomodulatory cytokine production, PTC299 inhibited the production of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17A (also called IL-17), IL-17 F, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in tissue culture models. The combination of anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity, cytokine inhibitory activity, and previously established favorable pharmacokinetic and human safety profiles render PTC299 a promising therapeutic for COVID-19.
A few studies of Western populations have found inconsistent results regarding the associations between vitamin D status and physical function. We explored the association between circulating vitamin D status [plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D, 25(OH)D] and incident activities of daily living (ADL) disability among Chinese older adults.

Community-based longitudinal cohort study.

A total of 2453 men and women (median age 84.0years) in 7 Chinese longevity areas were included.

Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident ADL, with adjustments for potential sociodemographic, and lifestyle confounders and biomarkers. Because there was a statistically significant interaction between plasma 25(OH)D and sex in relation to incident ADL, men and women were analyzed separately.

The median concentrations of plasma 25(OH)D were 46.6nmol/L and 36.4nmol/L for men and women, respectively. Compared with the lowest quartile in the fully adjusted model, the HR for incident ADL disability for the highest quartile was 0.
