Efficient viral RNA extraction is a prerequisite for downstream performance of rRT-PCR assays. Currently, several automatic methods that include RNA extraction are available. However, due to the growing demand, a shortage in kit supplies could be experienced in several labs. For these reasons, the use of different commercial or in-house protocols for RNA extraction may increase the possibility to analyze high number of samples. Herein, we compared the efficiency of RNA extraction of three different commercial kits and an in-house extraction protocol using synthetic ssRNA standards of SARS-CoV-2 as well as in oro-nasopharyngeal swabs from six COVID-19-positive patients. It was concluded that tested commercial kits can be used with some modifications for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 genome by rRT-PCR approaches, although with some differences in RNA yields. Conversely, EXTRAzol reagent was the less efficient due to the phase separation principle at the basis of RNA extraction. The experimental conditions such as selectivity, pH, sensor concentration, photostability, time and interaction mechanism were examined and optimized. The LOD was determined as 0.09 μM (10.70 μg/L) which was lower than WHO's permissible limit of cadmium in plant with 0.10-60.00 μM linear working range. Validation of the present method was performed by spike/recovery test and ICP-MS, then fluorescence determination of Cd2+ in food and soil samples was succesfully applied. The results indicated that the proposed method based on "turn-on" fluorescence of NP-1 was a simple, sensitive and reliable for rapid determination of Cd2+ in real samples with high applicability and stability.

However, CBT does not work sufficiently for up to 40% of clinically anxious youth. The neural and behavioral correlates of conditioned inhibition might provide promising targets for attempts to improve CBT response. During conditioned inhibition, threat and safety cues appear together, forming a safety compound. Here, we test whether this safety compound elicits a reduced fear response compared to pairing the threat cue with a novel cue (novel compound). The current pilot study compares behavioral, physiological, and neural correlates of conditioned inhibition between children with (n = 17, Mage = 13.09, SDage = 3.05) and without (n = 18, Mage = 14.49, SDage = 2.38) anxiety disorders. Behavioral and physiological measures did not differ between children with and without anxiety disorders during fear acquisition. During testing, children with anxiety disorders showed overall higher skin conductance response and expected to hear the aversive sound following the novel compound more often than children without anxiety disorders. Children with anxiety disorders showed more activity in the right ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) to the safety versus novel compound. Children without anxiety disorders showed the opposite pattern - more right vmPFC activity to the novel versus safety compound (F(1,31) = 5.40, p = 0.03). No group differences manifested within the amygdala, dorsal anterior cingulate cortex, or hippocampus. These pilot findings suggest a feasible approach for examining conditioned inhibition in pediatric anxiety disorders. If replicated in larger samples, findings may implicate perturbed conditioned inhibition in pediatric anxiety disorders and provide targets for CBT.
The present study aims to characterize knowledge, attitudes and practices in a sample of general practitioners(GPs) on management of travelers' diarrhea (TD).

Atotal of158GPs(44.3%males;mean age 40.2±12.4years) completed aweb questionnaire on antibiotic prophylaxis (AP) and/or an antibiotic treatment (AT) in TD cases. Participants were inquired on knowledge status (KS), risk perception and effectively applied recommendations for AP/AT through a specifically designed questionnaire. Multivariate odds ratios (OR) for predictors of AP/AT were calculated through regression analysis.

All in all, while 15 (9.5%)participants recommended AP for TD, 61 of them (39.4%) recommended AT. KS was largely unsatisfying as participants extensively ignored the most recent AP/AT recommendations. Acknowledgment of TD as a severe disorder was predictive for recommendation of AP (OR 37.843, 95%CI 4.752-301.4). As for AT, it was relatively elevated in GPs≥10 years (OR 2.653, 95%CI 1.169-6.019), but more rarely reported in participants with higher KS (OR 0.056, 95%CI 0.021-0.153).

Cardiac radioablation (CR), a new treatment for cardiac arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation, has had promising clinical outcomes to date. There is consequent desire for rapid clinical adoption. However, CR presents unique challenges to radiation therapy, and it is paramount that clinical adoption be performed safely and effectively. Recent reviews comprehensively detail patient selection, clinical history, treatment outcomes, and treatment toxicities but only briefly mention the technical aspects of CR. To address this knowledge gap, this review collates currently available knowledge regarding CR technology choice and procedural details to help inform and guide clinics considering implementing their own CR program, to aid technique standardization, and to highlight areas that require further development or verification.

This peptide has shown to prevent and/or attenuate hypertension and cardiovascular remodeling. A controlled release of angiotensin-(1-9) is needed for its delivery to the heart. Our aim was to develop a drug delivery system for angiotensin-(1-9). Thermosensitive liposomes (LipoTherm) were prepared with gold nanoclusters (LipoTherm-AuNC) to increase the stability and reach a temporal and spatial control of angiotensin-(1-9) release. Encapsulation efficiencies of nearly 50% were achieved in LipoTherm, reaching a total angiotensin-(1-9) loading of around 180 μM. This angiotensin-(1-9)-loaded LipoTherm sized around 100 nm and exhibited a phase transition temperature of 43 °C. AuNC were grown on LipoTherm and the new hybrid nanosystem showed energy absorption in the near-infrared (NIR) wavelength range. By NIR laser irradiation, a controlled release of angiotensin-(1-9) was achieved from the LipoTherm-AuNC nanosystem.
