When healthcare professionals as science brokers of vaccine knowledge attempt to increase vaccine knowledge and confidence, they must adjust their communication to the educational or health literacy level of their intended audience. Even if their messages are apparently clear and simple, they absolutely need to verify that they are properly understood.
Specific vaccine communication training appears essential to increase vaccine communication skills among healthcare providers. Moreover, further randomized controlled studies are warranted to improve vaccine empowerment among different populations, from a variety of educational backgrounds.

Evidence suggests that arteriosclerosis and sarcopenia (decreased muscle mass) share some of their many causes. However, after controlling for confounding factors, it is unclear whether the presence of arteriosclerosis correlates with sarcopenia.
The aim of this paper is to explore whether sarcopenia is associated with arteriosclerosis.
A multicenter cross-sectional community-based study.
A total of 2511 elderly subjects from six Chinese community health service centers in Anhui province were surveyed through an e-health promotion system to collect basic data and measurements of brachial-ankle pulse wave (baPWV), body composition, and handgrip strength (HGS). Pearson's correlation and binary logistic regression analyses were performed to identify associations between sarcopenia and high baPWV.
The prevalence rates of sarcopenia were 12.9% in men and 15.3% in women according to the 2019 standard of Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia. Among subjects with high baPWV, the proportion of sarcopenia was higher compared to those with normal baPWV (men 17.7% vs. 3.7%; women 20.4% vs. selleck 4.9%, both p<0.001). Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that sarcopenia was associated with high baPWV (p<0.0001, odds ratio=1.619) after adjusting for confounding factors. HGS slightly and negatively correlated with baPWV (-0.19 in men and -0.18 in women).
The intertwined pathophysiological mechanisms shared by arteriosclerosis and sarcopenia are potential targets for future interventions to reduce morbimortality in subjects with both disorders. Upcoming prospective studies and clinical trials are expected to advance these findings.

Nutritional interventions have been repeatedly advocated as of potential interest for preventing or delaying the cognitive decline, also in the context of neurodegenerative conditions. The idea of targeting the initial phases of dementia, when the process is theoretically still amenable of correction, via lifestyle modifications (including healthy diet or supplementation of specific micro-/macro-nutrients) is extremely appealing. In this perspective paper, we describe the most recent evidence on the topic and discuss how the nutritional assessment should be nested within a comprehensive approach to the aging person with initial signs of dementia for promoting his/her optimal management.
The prevalence of anemia and its impact on frailty and physical function amongst the multiethnic older populations in the Southeast Asian (SEA) countries are often not well studied. Singapore, a nation comprised of multiethnic communities, is one of the most rapidly aging population globally. We aim to evaluate the prevalence of anemia and its impact on frailty, and physical function in Healthy Older People Everyday (HOPE)- an epidemiologic population-based study on community-dwelling older adults in Singapore.
Cross-sectional study.
Community.
480 adults ≥ 65 years old.
Data were collected from interviewers-administered questionnaires on socio-demographics, FRAIL scale, Mini-Mental State Examination, EQ-5D, Barthel Index, and Lawton index. Hemoglobin concentration and physical assessments, including anthropometry, grip strength, timed up-and-go (TUG) were measured.
The overall prevalence of anemia was 15.2% (73 out of 480). The Indian ethnic group had the highest prevalence of anemia (32%, OR=3.0ble population is warranted.
In our multiethnic Asian population, anemia was adversely associated with frailty, decreased muscle strength, and IADL impairment. Health policies on anemia screening should be employed to avoid or potentially delay or reverse these adverse outcomes associated with anemia. Recognition, evaluation, and treatment of anemia amongst this vulnerable population is warranted.COVID-19 disrupted numerous disciplines which led to widespread misinformation on the virus. Thirteen students from across the USA designed a web-based conference, or "webinar," to minimize the misinformation among student populations. Professionals presented the current and possible future impacts of COVID-19 in their respective fields. Pre- and post-conference surveys were administered to the attendees to gauge the impact of the conference. Survey results demonstrated increased knowledge and a lower degree of feeling overwhelmed by COVID-19 information overall, indicating a niche use for webinars during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
There is insufficient knowledge about the functional and medical recovery of older people infected with SARS-CoV-2. This study aims to gain insight into the course of functional and medical recovery of persons who receive geriatric rehabilitation (GR) following SARS-CoV-2 infection across Europe. Special attention will be paid to the recovery of activities of daily living (ADL) and to the GR services offered to these patients.
A multi-center observational cohort study.
This study will include several European countries (EuGMS member states) each providing at least 52 comparable routine datasets (core dataset) of persons recovering from a SARS-CoV-2 infection and receiving geriatric rehabilitation. The routine data will be anonymously collected in an online CASTOR database. The ethical regulations of each participating country will be followed.
ADL functioning.
length of stay, discharge destination, hospital readmission and mortality. Other variables that will be collected are quality of life, treatment modalities, complications, cognition, frailty, mood/anxiety, BMI, nutrition and pain.
