In Northern Europe, we are used to classifying diabetes as either type 1 or type 2 (with some exceptions). These exceptions include secondary diabetes (e.g. gestational diabetes, after pancreatectomy, steroid therapy, etc.) and monogenic diabetes. However, the fact that one can actually suffer from (at least) two different types of diabetes, simultaneously or consecutively, is rarely discussed. This article describes a case of monogenic diabetes with autoantibodies against the β-cell antigen GAD-65. The existence, and implications, of other constellations of »double diabetes« are discussed.Mortality from Covid-19 is monitored in detail and compared between countries with different strategies against the virus. There is, however, often a lack of understanding of what is required in terms of measures and interpretation to enable correct comparisons. The number of deaths from Covid-19 is affected by the testing strategy and many other things that differ between countries. Therefore, today, the most reliable source for monitoring and comparing mortality from Covid-19 is total mortality. As far as we know, most methods rely on the assumption about the relationship between isolation and migration by a given model, such as the isolation-with-migration (IM) model, when estimating parameters during speciation with gene flow. In this paper, we develop a multispecies coalescent approach which does not rely on any assumption about the relationship between isolation and migration when estimating parameters and is called mstree. mstree is available at https//github.com/liujunfengtop/MStree/ and uses some mathematical inequalities among several factors, which include the species divergence time, the ancestral population size and the number of gene trees, to estimate parameters during speciation with gene flow. Using simulations, we show that the estimated values of ancestral population sizes and species divergence times are close to the true values when analyzing the simulation data sets, which are generated based on the isolation-with-initial-migration (IIM) model, secondary contact (SC) model, and IM model. Therefore, our method is able to estimate ancestral population sizes and speciation times in the presence of different modes of gene flow and may be helpful to test different theories of speciation. © The Author(s) 2020. The expression profile throughout the year of flower regulators (inducers and repressors), in leaves and buds, suggests that the development of male and female flowers may be preceded by separated induction events. Female flowers are most likely induced during the vegetative flush occurring in spring, whereas male flowers may be induced in early summer. Male flowers stay enclosed within the pre-dormant buds, but complete their development before the vegetative flush of the following year, displaying a long period of anthesis that spans the dormant period. Management of hydrocephalus includes temporary external ventricular drainage, with or without shunting. Thalamic location is an independent predictor of mortality and increases the likelihood of shunt dependence. OBJECTIVE To determine whether endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) can avoid the need for shunt placement and expedite recovery. METHODS We prospectively identified thalamic intracranial hemorrhage patients who developed acute hydrocephalus requiring cerebrospinal fluid diversion by extraventricular drain placement from November 2017 to February 2019. Patients who failed an extraventricular drain clamping trial were then evaluated for eligibility for an ETV procedure. Patients who underwent ETV were then followed up for the development of hydrocephalus, need for shunting, and length of stay in the intensive care unit. RESULTS Eight patients (7 males, 1 female) were prospectively enrolled.
