The myocardial tissue abnormalities and their progression were assessed on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) within 7 days following symptom onset and at 1 year according to their seropositivity. Among the 64 AM patients included, seven presented AMAF (11%). At baseline CMR, patients with AMAF had half as much late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) as seronegative AM patients (4.41% (1.47-4.41) of myocardial volume versus 8.82% (5.88-14.71), p = 0.01, respectively). At 1-year of follow-up, persistent myocardial scarring was less frequent in AMAF patients (n = 2 (28.6%) than seronegative AM patients (n = 38 (66.7%) (p = 0.021). AMAF, diagnosed as seropositive AM without a specific autoimmune disease, is not rare and is associated with less extensive LGE in the acute phase. TAs are endogenous to the human body in low quantities. Both TCP and PLZ cause marked elevations of 2-phenylethylamine (PEA), meta- and para-tyramine (m-/p-TYR), octopamine (OA), and tryptamine (TRYP), following both acute and (sub)chronic administration. This paper holds that TYR plays a pivotal role in causing SH, due to its strong pressor effect. Cautious treatment of SH is advised, given its typically self-limiting nature. The risk of hypotensive overshoots must be taken into account. For severe cases, this paper urges reconsideration, following suitable confirmation trials, of antipsychotics (notably risperidone) as these agents may reduce striatal p-TYR levels.
We report a novel side effect of Crizotinib, an oral ALK inhibitor used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with activating rearrangement of EML4-ALK. It expands the known spectrum of complications of Crizotinib.

Clinical case report.

Multiple aseptic and recurrent abscesses were observed in the liver, thoracic wall as well as in both kidneys in a 75-year-old female patient suffering from NSCLC who had been treated with Crizotinib for almost 2years. After discontinuation of the treatment the abscesses dissolved spontaneously and did not reoccur.

The surgical treatment of giant olfactory groove meningiomas (OGMs) with marked perilesional brain oedema is still a surgical challenge. After tumour resection, increase of brain oedema may occur causing dramatic neurological deterioration and even death of the patient. The objective of this paper is to describe surgical features of a two-step staged resection of these tumours performed to counter increase of postoperative brain oedema.

This two-step staged resection procedure was carried out in a consecutive series of 19 patients harbouring giant OGMs. As first step, a bifrontal craniectomy was performed followed by a right-sided interhemispherical approach. About 80% of the tumour mass was resected leaving behind a shell-shaped tumour remnant. In the second step, carried out after the patients' recovery from the first surgery and decline of oedema, the remaining part of the tumour was removed completely followed by duro- and cranioplasty.

Ten patients recovered quickly from first surgery and the second operation was performed after a mean of 12.4days. In eight patients, the second operation was carried out later between day 25 and 68 due to surgery-related complications, development of a trigeminal zoster, or to a persisting frontal brain oedema. Mean follow-up was 49.3months and all but one patient had a good outcome regardless of surgery-related complications.

Splenic vessel involvement occurs frequently in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) of the body and the tail (B/T) but the impact on survival is unknown. We assessed the influence of radiological and pathologic involvement of splenic artery (p-SA +) and vein (p-SV +) on patient outcomes after distal pancreatectomy (DP) for PDAC.

From 2013 to 2019, all DP for PDAC in five centers were included. Factors associated with overall (OS) and disease-free (DFS) survival were identified.

Among the 76 patients included, 5 (6.6%) had p-SA + only, 11 (14.5%) had p-SV + only, and 24 (31.6%) had both p-SA + and p-SV + . The preoperative CT-scan accuracy to predict p-SV + and p-SA + was high (sensitivity 91.4% and 82.8%, respectively; negative predictive value 89.7% and 88.3%, respectively). The 5-year OS and DFS rates were 3.9% and 8.3%, respectively. Multivariate analysis identified splenic vessel involvement (i.e., p-SA + or p-SV + , or both p-SA + and p-SV +) as the only independent factor influencing DFS (HR 4.04; 95% CI [1.22-13.44], p = 0.023). Tumor size ≥ 30mm was the only independent factor influencing OS (HR 4.04; 95% CI [1.26-12.95], p = 0.019) and was associated with a high risk of p-SA + (p = 0.001) and p-SV + (p < 0.001).
