Usage of antitussive drugs within severe cough throughout young children.
The article show the pattern of externalizing behavior across age, gender, school type, and school level, with reference to aggression, delinquency, and hyperactivity. The study samples were primary school pupils and secondary school students from three selected Local Government Areas (LGA) in Ogun State, Nigeria [Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, and Yewa South]. Their ages ranged from 10 to 20 years. The student/pupil sample was 1770 in all. The instrument used was an adapted version of Achenbach's child behavior checklist and youth self-report. Basic descriptive statistics like frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, as well as non-parametric statistics like Phi-coefficient, Chi-square, Goodman and Kruskal's gamma, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test were utilized. Inferential parametric statistics like Pearson r, analysis of variance and simple regression were also utilized. Four major findings were reported. Firstly, the private schools irrespective of age, gender and level, scored higher than the public school in aggression, delinquency, and hyperactivity. Secondly, aggression is higher in secondary schools, while delinquency and hyperactivity are more prevalent in primary schools. Thirdly, school level and school type are the strongest predictors of externalizing behavior. Lastly, correspondence analysis showed a similar behavioral pattern for the three behaviors and three distinct behavioral patterns. i). Respondents aged 10 and below and those in primary schools (ii). Male, public and between 16 and 20. iii). Private, secondary, female and between 11 and 15. Implications of the study are discussed. © 2020 The Author(s).Heterotopic pregnancy, defined as simultaneous intrauterine and ectopic gestations, is an uncommon occurrence in women who conceive without assisted reproduction techniques. We present the case of 28 years old female with strong family history of multiple gestations, who presented with acute severe abdominal pain and diagnosed with spontaneous heterotopic pregnancy in natural conception. Ectopic pregnancy was successfully removed surgically to conserve the uterine pregnancy. After one week, patient presented with vaginal bleeding and diagnosed with missed abortion and lost her desired uterine pregnancy. This case report discusses the significance of early diagnosis and treatment of heterotopic pregnancy to avoid both fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality. Practitioners should carry a high index of suspicion for heterotopic pregnancy in patients presenting with common symptoms and carry a family history of multiple gestation pregnancies. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.In practice, the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) using the parametric estimator is almost certainly being used to estimate a firm's systematic risk (beta) and cost of equity as in Eq. (1). Selleckchem MSC-4381 However, the parametric estimators, even when data is normal, may not yield better performance compared with the non-parametric estimators when outliers existed. This research argued for the non-parametric Bayes estimator to be employed in the CAPM by applying both advance and basic evaluation criteria such as hypotheses/confidence intervals of the AIC/DIC, model variance, fit, and error, alpha, and beta and its standard deviation. Using all the S&P 500 stocks having monthly data from 07/2007-05/2019 (450 stocks) and the Bayesian inference, we showed the non-parametric Bayes estimator yielded less number of zeroed betas and smaller alpha compared with the parametric Bayes estimator. More importantly, this non-parametric Bayes yielded the statistically significantly smaller AIC/DIC, model variance, and beta standard deviation and higher model fit compared with the parametric Bayes estimator. These findings indicate the CAPM using the non-parametric Bayes estimator is superior compared with the parametric Bayes estimator, a contrast of common practice. Hence, the non-parametric estimator is recommended to be employed in asset pricing work. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.This study aimed to examine the influence of the traditional leadership qualities towards to develop community cohesion in the Iban community in Malaysia. A quantitative approach was used to conduct this study, where data were collected through a self-administered survey questionnaire from 210 chiefs in the Iban longhouse at the Pakan District in Sarawak, Malaysia. A pre-tested questionaire was administrered to the respondents using a simple random sampling in the District of Pakan, Sarawak. The leadership quality was measured based on the leadership traits, leadership style, leadership behaviour, situational leadership, and trsnformational leadership; while the community cohesion was measured by a sense of belonging, social alienation, social support, rootedness, social solidarity, and social ties. The results of the correlation and regression analysis showed that the traditional leadership qualities had a significant correlation with the development of social cohesion. The findings proved that the traditional leadership is essential to increase community cohesion in the Iban community. The findings would be important guideline to the development thinkers, practitioners, community leaders, and development institutions. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.Underwater welding is widely used for maintenance and repairs of underwater structures such as undersea pipes, offshore structures and nuclear power plants. In practice, underwater welding has the disadvantage related to high cooling rate and unstable welding arc due to the water hydrostatic pressure. This affects the microstructure and mechanical properties of underwater welded joints. Many of previous research works on underwater welding have been carried out only on a laboratory scale in shallow water depth, whereas underwater welding was used to weld in the depth of the water with a metre scale. Undersea structures experience fatigue load due to the fluctuation force of water flow. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of water depth on the fatigue life of underwater welded joints. Low carbon steel SS400 specimens were welded underwater with depths of 2.5 m, 5 m and 10 m. The air welded joint was also evaluated for comparison purposes. Fatigue life was evaluated according to the ASTM E466 standard by using a rotary bending machine. Furthermore, tensile test, micro hardness measurement and microstructure evaluation were also conducted for gathering supporting data. The fatigue and tensile strength of the air welded joints were higher than those of the underwater welded joints. The porosities caused by the dissolved hydrogen gas, carbon (monoxide and dioxide) gases and water vapor in weld metal of the underwater welded joints decreased the fatigue and tensile strength. An interesting phenomenon on the underwater welded joints was that the deeper the water level, the higher became the fatigue, tensile strength as well as hardness. Based on the microstructure analysis, the number of acicular ferrite structures in weld metal increased as the water level depth increased. © 2020 The Author(s).The present study aimed at investigating the effect of enzymatic hydrolysis times (40-240 min) with alcalase and pancreatin in enzyme-substrate ratio (2% w/w) on the hydrolysis degree, electrophoresis bands, antioxidant properties and chelating activities of iron and copper ions of bioactive peptides derived from defatted Bunium persicum Bioss. (black cumin) press cake. The hydrolysis degree was enhanced by increasing the process time using both enzymes. Both hydrolysis of the enzymes were led to producing peptides with low molecular weight (less of 10 kDa). The DPPH• radical scavenging activity was more influenced by peptides hydrolyzed by alcalase. But, the products hydrolyzed by pancreatin had a higher inhibitory effect on the ABTS•+ cationic radical than alcalase hydrolysis. The primary protein reducing power was reached the highest level after enzymatic hydrolysis by alcalase and pancreatin, respectively, for 200 and 240 min. Following the use of proteins hydrolyzed by alcalase and pancreatin, the production of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances was also diminished from 0.45 to 0.42 and 0.38 (mg MDA/L emulsion), respectively. After assessing the iron ion chelating, a higher level of activity was observed in the alkaline-derived enzyme hydrolysis samples. Furthermore, the highest amount of copper ion chelating was obtained after hydrolyzing the enzymes for 200 min. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.The current work presents structural change and band gap tunability using hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite with the incorporation of long chain ammonium halide. Thin films of MAPbI3 with different ratio of n-butylammonium iodide (BAI) have been successfully deposited on the substrate using a single step coating technique. X-ray diffraction scans revealed the transition of the 3D structure of MAPbI3 to quasi-2D perovskite structure when BAI loading increase with a crystallite size range approximately 16 nm. This structural changeis reflected in the band gap as it increased from 1.59 eV for bulk crystal MAPbI3 to 2.13 eV for BAI and MAPbI3 ratio of 11. Correspondingly, photoluminescence measurement showed a blue shift in perovskite emission due to the transition of 3D to 2D layered structure perovskite. Raman spectra confirm that all fabricated films are of pristine quality and no corresponding degradation peaks of PbI2 is observed. These characteristics are important to address the single step deposition method of hybrid perovskite for perovskite solar cells application. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.sIn visible light communication (VLC) systems, a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme is deemed promising technology to offer better spectral efficiency than the Orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme. The feasibility of power domain NOMA for VLC system has been studied with different variants of unipolar OFDM schemes. However, few research works have been presented on the impact of clipping noise on the achievable sum rate of NOMA with DC-biased optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) and polarity divided DCO-OFDM (PD-DCO-OFDM). This paper presents the impact of clipping noise on the achievable sum rate of NOMA-DCO-OFDM and NOMA-PD-DCO-OFDM VLC systems. Moreover, NOMA-DCO-OFDM and NOMA-PD-DCO-OFDM systems are compared based on achievable sum rates for different total power constraints and signal clipping levels. For the two-user scenario, Simulation results have confirmed that NOMA-PD-DCO-OFDM can offer a better sum rate compared to NOMA-DCO-OFDM system. © 2020 The Author(s).Adolescence is a transitional phase of development with the risk of adopting unhealthy behaviours, which is carried on to adulthood. Adolescent athletes tend to resort to unhealthy eating habits resulting in eating disorders and other clinical outcomes. Hence, it forms a crucial age to understand modifiable food habits and provide appropriate counselling. In India, coaches closely monitor the adolescent athletes, even concerning their eating habits due to the lack of multi-disciplinary support staff. Thus, our study aimed to understand the perceptions of coaches towards food, appetite and nutrition of adolescent athletes using In-depth interviews (IDI). Of all 14 coaches at the state-sponsored residential sports centre, 10 consented. The IDI were conducted in a standardized manner and were recorded and transcribed. They were coded manually, using the open and axial coding in the grounded theory approach to determine themes. They considered nutrition as key to performance and consumption of higher animal protein as important.
