Within situ microcalorimetry review associated with ZnFe2O4 nanoparticle enhancement underneath solvothermal circumstances.
0 ± 0.0 mm. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the effective extracts was also elucidated in the range between 0.09 - 9.0 mg/mL. Skin extracts of cv. 'Hissar-2' (red) and 'Bhima Shubhra' (white) showed better inhibition at the concentration of 0.45 and 0.72 mg/mL against Streptococcus agalactiae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. As per correlation analysis, positive correlation was obtained between total flavonoids and inhibition rate of all the bacteria while a weak correlation (R2 = 0.3967) was observed against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The waste skin of the analysed cultivars can be utilised in food and health sector as natural preservative and antimicrobial agent. The mechanism of arsenic (As) immobilization in soils is crucial for improving photosynthetic pigments and antioxidants in food crops. The effects of soil amendments with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), biochar (BC), selenium (Se), sulfur (S) and Si-gel on the concentrations of chlorophyll, carotenoid, proline, malondialdehyde (MDA), and the activity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX), guaiacol peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) were studied in BARI pea (Pisum sativum ) under As stress. Soil amendments with AMF, Se, Si-gel and S enhanced chlorophyll a and total chlorophyll contents by 31-35% and 60-75%, respectively. Likewise, CAT activity was increased by 24-46% in BC, AMF, Se, Si-gel and S-treated pea, respectively. APX and POD activity was also found to be enriched with the treatment of BC, AMF and Se. In contrast, the content of MDA and proline was found lower than that of control in peas. These findings indicate that oxidative damage, osmotic stress and cell injury were possibly reduced in As-stressed peas. Particularly, AMF and Se both were comparatively more potential in comparison to BC. Thus, soil amendments with AMF, BC and Se are significantly important for improving antioxidant enzyme activity of food crops grown in soil with elevated As levels.Curcumin, a secondary metabolite from the turmeric plant is one of the most promising natural products, which has been studied extensively for decades. It has demonstrated several pharmacological activities in vitro and in vivo. Various studies have indicated that the pharmacological activity of curcumin is contributed by its metabolites. The aim of this review is to present an overview of metabolic products of curcumin produced upon its reduction like di, tetra, hexa and octa-hydrocurcumin. In addition, this paper has systematically analyzed the current information regarding medicinal use of reduced metabolites of curcumin and identified the limitations which have hindered its widespread usage in the medical world. Several diverse therapeutic effects have shown to be exhibited by reduced metabolites of curcumin such as antioxidant, anti-cancerous, anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory activities. The potential underlying molecular mechanisms of the biological activities of reduced metabolites of curcumin have also been highlighted, which may provide insight into the principle of effectiveness of curcumin.Prevalence of teenage pregnancy is very high in the Central Region of Ghana. Although, pregnant teenagers are perceived to be high-risk mothers, very little has been documented about obstetric outcomes among these mothers in Ghana. This case-control observational study compared maternal and perinatal outcomes between teen and adult mothers in the Cape Coast metropolis. Data on maternal and perinatal outcome variables were collected with a data extraction form from maternal history record and delivery record books of 505 teens and 501 adults. Maternal and perinatal outcomes for the two groups were compared using chi-square or Fisher's exact test and odds ratios at 95% confidence interval. Prenatal services utilization was high among the participants. Prevalence of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes were low, which is comparable between the two groups. Spontaneous vaginal delivery was higher in the teens with the adults having higher predisposition for caesarean section. The adult mothers were more likely to have preterm delivery and babies with low minute 1 APGAR score, the teens on the other hand had babies with significantly lower birth weight. The favourable and comparable pregnancy outcomes among the participants could be attributed to the high prenatal service utilization. Improved access to prenatal service utilization would produce better pregnancy outcomes. The non-hazardous silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesised using the extract of a biological organism has gained widespread attention for various applications, mainly in healthcare. This study aimed at synthesising AgNPs using the aqueous extract of Marphysa moribidii (Annelida, Polychaeta) and to evaluate their antibacterial activities. selleck screening library AgNPs were synthesised in response to silver nitrate (AgNO3) with polychaete crude extract for 24 h incubation; the polychaete crude extract acted as both reducing and stabilising agents. The presence of biosynthesised AgNPs was confirmed by an analysis of colour variations from pinkish to yellowish-brown, as well as the appearance of surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) bands at 398-400 nm using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Biosynthesised AgNPs were characterised by dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Biosynthesised AgNPs showed a significant effect (p less then 0.05) on Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and S.epidermidis) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pnemoniae, Salmonella typhimurium, Serratia sp., Shigella sonnei, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Thus, the crude extract of M. moribidii has a potential as a reducing agent for the development of future nanometal-based antibacterial agent, AgNPs, for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria. This research explores the role of materialism, and social comparison to brand addiction in relation to compulsive buying. A structural equation modeling was used to analyze data through partial least squares by collecting online data in Vietnam. The research findings explain social comparison is an antecedent leading to addictive behavior. Materialism mediates and increases the addictive behavior when consumers are significantly impacted by social comparison. In addition, brand addiction leads to word-of-mouth and willingness to pay premium price when consumers are set under social comparison and materialistic tendency. The managerial and theoretical application is also provided in this research. The paper aimed to progress an ideal gastro retentive drug delivery system intended for directing Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide as a fixed-dose combination for anti-hypertensive therapy. The bilayer tablets were primed through direct compression method. Losartan was formulated by means of a floating layer expending hydrophilic swellable polymer Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose K4M, ethyl cellulose (4cps) as a buoyancy enhancer, sodium bicarbonate as a gas spawning agent. The amount of polymer blends remains optimized using 23 full factorial designs. The clout of experimental factors such as swelling agent concentration, buoyancy enhancer and gas generating agent on floating lag time, total floating time, T50% and % drug release remain investigated to get optimized formulation. The responses remain analyzed using Analysis of variance, and polynomial equation stood created for every retort using Multiple linear regression analysis. Entirely preparations floated for more than 12 h. The release pattern of losarformulate bilayer tablet. The optimized formulation was imperilled to stability reading for three months at 40○C/75% relative humidity. The stability revision exhibited no substantial alteration in the appearance of tablets, floating characteristics, drug content and in-vitro drug dissolution. Consequently, a biphasic drug release design was effectively accomplished over the formulation of floating bilayer tablets.E-learning has numerous potentials to spur education development in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It impacts positively on the educational process, unlike the physical chalkboard in the classrooms. The outbreak and fast spread of the COVID-19 led to the closed down of schools. Efforts to revamp education due to prolong lockdown made the government enforce e-learning in tertiary institutions across the country. It is however worthy to know that these directives did not make much change as a result of poor infrastructure and networking. Hence, this study investigated compliance with e-learning during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown by the instructors in the private tertiary institutions in Nigeria vis-à-vis their socio-economic factors and limitations encountered. A systematic sampling technique was adopted to select 180 respondents from the staff list. A validated questionnaire was used to collect data on socio-economic variables (SEV), compliance (ϒ) to e-learning, and limitations (Ls) while multiple linear regression model (R) was used to test the interaction between the compliance and limitations. Results show that age (β = 0.351), educational attainment (β = 0.843) and teaching experience (β = 0.169) influence e-learning compliance at p less then 0.05. It was also found that 67.3% compliance with e-learning took place in the Universities compared to 59.1% in the Polytechnics and 52.8% in the Colleges of Education. Regression shows that constraints affected the level of compliance (R2 = 0.73). The study concludes that constraints are major obstacles to the compliance and prospects of e-learning in the Private Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria. The human body generates various malodor compounds in different body parts and even in the same parts. A more effective and versatile deodorant material that can suppress various key contributors to the body odor must be developed to improve the quality of life of affected individuals. In this study, activated carbon (AC) was found to have higher adsorption ability toward key body odor-generating compounds than zinc oxide (ZnO), which is a well-known deodorant material. To prevent pigmentation of human skin induced by the direct application of AC, white activated carbon (WAC) was developed by blending AC, titanium dioxide (TiO2), and ammonium acrylate copolymer. AC to TiO2 ratio of 16 was found to be the optimum blending ratio to form WAC. Compared with ZnO, this optimal WAC exhibited higher adsorption ability toward five key body odor compounds. The in vivo evaluation of the sample containing WAC revealed that it significantly suppressed the generation of axillary odor without a bactericidal effect. The developed WAC can effectively suppress the human body odor in different body parts. These findings are valuable for individuals experiencing psychological stress attributed to their unpleasant body odor.In compliance with the socioeconomic theory, the study has strived to investigate the impact of economic and non-economic public policies on tax evasion using panel data of 7 SAARC countries covering the period from 1998 to 2015. The study has applied the ordinary least square with fixed effect and random effect models to analyze the data assembled. The result of the study implies that the higher the degree of economic freedoms, the lower the tax evasion. More specifically, the government policies about property rights, monetary freedom, fiscal freedom and investment freedom have a negative influence on taxpayers' choices of tax evasion while financial freedom result shows a positive effect on tax evasion. Additionally, there is a negative impact of public sector governance and religiosity on tax evasion, which implies the higher the public sector governance and the higher the religious faith amid the people, the lower the degree of tax evasion. The findings of the study are supposed to offer the governments, tax authorities, and research scholars the valuable insights into public policies for reducing the tax evasion to a significant extent.
