Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus diseases 2019 outbreak, was locked down on January 23, 2020. We aimed to investigate the barriers to the physical prevention, negative attitudes, and anxiety levels.

A online cross-sectional survey was conducted with the people living in Wuhan between March 12th and 23rd,2020.

Of a total of 2411 complete responses, the mean and standard deviation for the total physical prevention barriers score was 19.73 (standard deviation±5.3; range 12-45) out of a possible score of 48. Using a cut-off score of 44 for the State-Trait Inventory score, 79.9% (95% confidence interval [CI] 78.2-81.5) of the participants reported moderate to severe anxiety during the early phase of the outbreak, and 51.3% (95% CI 49.2-53.3) reported moderate to severe anxiety after the peak of coronavirus diseases 2019 was over (during the study period). Comparing anxiety levels in the early phase of the outbreak and after the peak of the outbreak, 58.5% (95% CI 56.5-60.5) recorded a decreased anxiety. Females reported a higher likelihood of having decreased levels of anxiety than males (odds ratio= 1.78, 95% CI 1.48-2.14). Low negativeattitudes score were associated with a higher decrease in anxiety (odds ratio= 1.59, 95% CI 1.33-1.89).

The attitudinal barriers to prevention of transmission of coronavirus diseases 2019 are more prominent than physical prevention barriers after the peak of coronavirus diseases 2019. High anxiety levelseven after the peak warrant serious attention.

Simultaneous flocculation, sterilization and identification of bacteria are great challenge in water treatment. Herein we presented a three-in-one compound through combining a novel Bacitracin-based flocculant (B-g-PAMDAC) and surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) labels, the modified Au@AgNPs using graphene oxide (GO) and 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid (4-MPBA). B-g-PAMDAC with bactericidal groups and microblock structure was synthesized via copolymerization and self-assembly. Vismodegib Its functional groups and microblock structure contributed to the excellent performance in flocculation of bacteria. 4-MPBA as bacterial capture bound to the bacterial cell membrane and contributed to recognition of bacteria in flocculation. Bacteria aggregating around Au@AgNPs resulted in abundant "hot spots" and strong Raman signals. SERS labels obviously improved the sensitivity, accuracy and stability of bacteria identification even at low bacterial concentration of 1 × 103 CFU mL-1. They presented distinct fingerprints of bacteria, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus cereus and Enterococcus faecalis, in Raman mappings. Bacitracin improved sterilization efficiency of B-g-PAMDAC in four bacteria treatment in terms of sterilization rate and time. β-galactosidase and respiratory activity of bacteria revealed sterilization mechanism of B-g-PAMDAC that changed permeability of cell membrane before it reduced the respiration activity of bacteria and ruptured cell wall. The current knowledge about the ecological effects of microplastic (MP) remains limited, and to-date ecotoxicity tests often utilize standard microplastic with one or two distinct size classes and expose the organisms to unrealistically high MP concentrations. We exposed the marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum to microplastic particles of a mimicked realistic size frequency distribution complemented with serial experiments with distinct size classes. To do so, we exposed this diatom to a concentration series of different sized polyethylene (PE) microbeads (sizes 10-106 µm; 1.25 ×102-1.25 ×107 particles/L) in a 72-h growth inhibition test. No effect on the growth of P. tricornutum by virgin PE microbeads up to 1.25 × 107 particles/L (or 499 mg/L), indicating environmentally relevant concentrations and sizes of MP does not alter the growth of marine diatoms. Results of smaller sized MPs (10-20 µm) did not differ from those obtained with larger MPs (90-106 µm) and mix sized MPs (10-106 µm), i.e. no impact on the microalgae growth. As a pioneer work, our results contribute with high quality dose-response data to an improved risk assessment of microplastic under realistic present and future marine MP pollution.Wastewater is water that has already been contaminated by domestic, industrial and commercial activity that needs to be treated before it could be discharged into some other water bodies to avoid even more groundwater contamination supplies. It consists of various contaminants like heavy metals, organic pollutants, inorganic pollutants and Emerging contaminants. Research has been doing on all types of contaminates more than a decade, but this emerging contaminants is the contaminants which arises mostly from pharmaceuticals, personal care products, hormones and fertilizer industries. The majority of emerging contaminants did not have standardized guidelines, but may have adverse effects on human and marine organisms, even at smaller concentrations. Typically, extremely low doses of emerging contaminants are found in the marine environment and cause a potential risk to the aquatic animals living there. When contaminants emerge in the marine world, they are potentially toxic and pose many risks to the health of both man and livestock. The aim of this article is to review the Emerging contaminate sources, detection methods and treatment methods. The purpose of this study is to consider the adsorption as a beneficial treatment of emerging contaminants also advanced and cost effective emerging contaminates treatment methods. We developed a Cu/Cu2O-immobilized filter-type adsorbent for efficient iodide anion removal. A cellulose filter (CF) was used as a support, and its surface was modified using acrylic acid to enhance copper immobilization. The modified filter (CF-AA) exhibited 10x higher copper adsorption than the unmodified filter. Cu/Cu2O was prepared on CF-AA by using a simple hydrothermal method to obtain CF-AA-Cu, and the prepared Cu/Cu2O was characterized with scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. While CF and Cu2O themselves exhibited limited iodide adsorption performance, CF-AA-Cu exhibited fast adsorption kinetics with a half-life of 60 min as well as a high adsorption capacity of 10.32 mg/g, as obtained using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. Moreover, it exhibited high selectivity for iodide when high concentrations of other anions were present. The adsorption mechanism was proved by means of material characterization before and after adsorption.
