Albums

The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, as well as a number of compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for its absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to find a new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock band from the United States that was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The group is made up of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams, guitarist/vocalist. The band's diverse mix of influences has made them one of the most popular bands of all time. The band's music was played in more than 200 films and television shows which included The Godfather & The Prince of Egypt.

In 1983 the band released Toto IV, which earned an international acclaim. The group embarked on the world to promote the album following its popularity. During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. At the end of the tour, the band decided to let him go, and they hired guitarist/singer Joseph Williams to take his place. David Hungate, the drummer, also left the group following the tour. Leland Sklar was his replacement.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The group has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the band is "Africa" which has over one billion views. The video is set in a library and features the group performing on top of a stack of books about Africa.

The track "Africa", from the album Toto IV, was written by the members of the band and was produced by David Pich. 안전놀이터 was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto regain their popularity after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.

After the album's release, Toto went on a world tour. The group included tour musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. In addition guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.


In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, quit Toto due to personal reasons. The group decided to hold an audition, and eventually selected Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.

Prior to and during the time of Toto's formation, its members worked as session musicians for a wide variety of artists. Toto was founded following Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Keyboardist Paich was a regular on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto began working on a special project called Old Is New. This album featured three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of old songs. The album received a lot of attention all over the world and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote the album.

Toto known for the popular song "Africa", recently joined forces to promote their upcoming album, All In. The album was released on November 6, 2018 and included three songs from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, as well as completed recordings of four other older tracks that featured Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album also featured an original cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band decided to include after hearing the song on the radio.
