Albums

The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and numerous compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985, singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.

Toto has released numerous music videos. The band has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the band is "Africa" which has over one billion views. The video is set in a library, with the band performing atop an African book stack.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by members of the band and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and other countries. In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks and several completed recordings of older songs. The album received a lot of attention worldwide and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote it.
