Other than that, there were no effects of oxytocin treatment. OXTR genotype did not significantly interact with oxytocin treatment. Our results contribute to the growing body of empirical literature suggesting heterogenous effects of oxytocin administration in ASD. To draw clinically relevant conclusions regarding the usefulness of oxytocin treatment, however, empirical studies need to consider methods of delivery, dose, and moderating individual factors more carefully in larger samples.Optical probing is an indispensable tool in research and development. In fact, it has always been the most natural way for humankind to explore nature. However, objects consisting of transparent materials with a refractive index close to unity, such as low-density gas jets, are a typical example of samples that often reach the sensitivity limits of optical probing techniques. We introduce an advanced optical probing method employing multiple passes of the probe through the object to increase phase sensitivity, and relay-imaging of the object between individual passes to preserve spatial resolution. An interferometer with four-passes was set up and the concept was validated by tomographic characterization of low-density supersonic gas jets. The results show an evident increase of sensitivity, which allows for the accurate quantitation of fine features such as a shock formed by an obstacle or a barrel shock on the jet boundary in low ambient gas pressures. Despite its limitations in temporal resolution, this novel method has demonstrated an increase in phase sensitivity in transmission, however, it can also be employed to boost the absorption or polarization contrast of weakly interacting objects in both transmission and reflection setups, thus, upgrading the sensitivity of various optical characterization methods.Species community structures respond strongly to habitat changes. Baf-A1 mw These are either driven by nature or human activities. The biota of East African drylands responds highly sensitively to natural and anthropogenic impacts. Thus, seasonality strongly influences resource availability in a cyclic manner during the year, with cyclic appearance of the different developmental stages of invertebrates, while man-made landscape transformations profoundly and permanently modify habitat structures and, as a consequence, species communities. Butterflies are an excellent model group for the study of the effects of seasonality, and to test for biodiversity responses to anthropogenic activities such as habitat modification, degradation and destruction. We performed transect counts of adult butterflies in riparian forests and their adjoining areas, either dry savannahs with occasional pasturing (i.e. near-natural status) or farmland areas with fields, gardens and settlements (i.e. highly degraded status with lack of original ct habitat associations were comparatively weak and typical dry savannah and riparian forest species were not clearly restricted to the near natural landscape.Urochloa (syn. Brachiaria) is the most popular fodder of livestock farmers in Cameroon for hay and seed productions. Farmers in Cameroon have been producing Brachiaria seeds for decades for own uses and surplus are sold to neighbours, and to traders from Cameroon and neighbouring countries. However, there is no information available about qualities of these seeds. Fifteen Urochloa seeds samples were collected from farmers and/or government stations in five regions (Adamaoua, East, North, North West, and West) and analysed for major seed quality parameters along with seeds of improved Urochloa cultivar Basilisk imported from Brazil as a check. Study showed significant differences among treatments for various seed quality parameters tested (P  less then  0.0001). The highest thousand grains weight was recorded in Basilisk (5.685 g), followed by W12 (3.555 g), A05 (3.153 g) and N01 (2.655 g). Caryopsis number and caryopsis weight were highest in Basilisk followed by E09, A06, and W12. Of three conditions tested for seed germination, mean germination was the highest in greenhouse (7.39%) where Basilisk had the highest germination (25.5%) followed by N01 (18.50%), A05 (14.50%) and W12 (12.75%). The seed viability ranged from 18% (E09) to 81% (N01), and there were a positive and highly significant relationships between seed germination and viability traits (r = 0.883; P  less then  0.0001). This study showed a marked difference in seed quality parameters of Urochloa grass seeds produced in Cameroon, and the potential of developing Urochloa grass seed business in the Northern, Adamaoua and Western regions of Cameroon. We aimed to assess the validity of the self-report questionnaire for periodontitis in a Japanese population. A Japanese 9-item self-report questionnaire, developed by translating English-version questions that were used to detect periodontitis, was validated against full-mouth clinically-assessed periodontitis in 949 Japanese adults (average age = 43.2 years). Multivariable logistic regression modeling was used to calculate the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), wherein the periodontitis case definition of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/American Academy of Periodontology was considered the gold standard. Severe, moderate, and mild periodontitis were identified in 6.2%, 30.0%, and 6.7% of the study population, respectively. Self-reported oral health questions combined with socio-demographic and health-related variables had an AUC > 0.70 (range, 0.71-0.87) for any periodontitis category. Four oral health questions ("have gum disease," "loose tooth," "lost bone," and "bleeding gums") were selected in the parsimonious model for severe periodontitis. The periodontitis screening score generated by the responses to these four questions had an AUC, sensitivity, and specificity of 0.82, 73.1%, and 74.3%, respectively, where the cut-off was set at 2 points. In conclusion, a locally adapted version of the self-report questionnaire had an acceptable diagnostic capacity for the detection of periodontitis in this study population.Occupation ratio and fatty infiltration are important parameters for evaluating patients with rotator cuff tears. We analyzed the occupation ratio using a deep-learning framework and studied the fatty infiltration of the supraspinatus muscle using an automated region-based Otsu thresholding technique. To calculate the amount of fatty infiltration of the supraspinatus muscle using an automated region-based Otsu thresholding technique. The mean Dice similarity coefficient, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and relative area difference for the segmented lesion, measuring the similarity of clinician assessment and that of a deep neural network, were 0.97, 99.84, 96.89, 99.92, and 0.07, respectively, for the supraspinatus fossa and 0.94, 99.89, 93.34, 99.95, and 2.03, respectively, for the supraspinatus muscle. The fatty infiltration measure using the Otsu thresholding method significantly differed among the Goutallier grades (Grade 0; 0.06, Grade 1; 4.68, Grade 2; 20.10, Grade 3; 42.86, Grade 4; 55.79, p  less houlder MRI.Glioblastoma (GBM) has high mortality rates because of extreme therapeutic resistance. During surgical resection for GBM, 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-induced protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) fluorescence is conventionally applied to distinguish GBM. However, surgical intervention is insufficient for high invasive GBM. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) combined with low-intensity ultrasonication (US) and PpIX, as a sonosensitizer, is an emerging and promising approach, although its efficacy is limited. Based on our previous study that down-regulation of multidrug resistant protein (MDR1) in GBM augmented the anti-tumor effects of chemotherapy, we hypothesized that elevation of cellular PpIX levels by down-regulation of MDR1 enhances anti-tumor effects by SDT. In high invasive progeny cells from mouse glioma stem cells (GSCs) and a GSC-bearing mouse glioma model, we assessed the anti-tumor effects of SDT with a COX-2 inhibitor, celecoxib. Down-regulation of MDR1 by celecoxib increased cellular PpIX levels, as well as valspodar, an MDR1 inhibitor, and augmented anti-tumor effects of SDT. MDR1 down-regulation via the Akt/NF-κB pathway by celecoxib was confirmed, using an NF-κB inhibitor, CAPÉ. Thus, elevation of cellar PpIX by down-regulation of MDR1 via the Akt/NF-κB pathway may be crucial to potentiate the efficacy of SDT in a site-directed manner and provide a promising new therapeutic strategy for GBM.Interfacial encoded properties of polymer adlayers adsorbed on the graphene (GE) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) have been constituted a scaffold for the creation of new materials. The holistic understanding of nanoscale intermolecular interaction of 1D/2D polymer assemblies on substrate is the key to bottom-up design of molecular devices. We develop an integrated multidisciplinary approach based on electronic structure computation [density functional theory (DFT)] and big data mining [machine learning (ML)] in parallel with neural network (NN) and statistical analysis (SA) to design hybrid polymers from assembly on substrate. Here we demonstrate that interfacial pressure and structural deformation of polymer network adsorbed on GE and SiO2 offer unique directions for the fabrication of 1D/2D polymers using only a small number of simple molecular building blocks. Our findings serve as the platform for designing a wide range of typical inorganic heterostructures, involving noncovalent intermolecular interaction observed in many nanoscale electronic devices. Many of the > 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the US have undergone breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Patients report that nipple-areolar complex (NAC) reconstruction is psychologically important, yet current reconstruction techniques commonly result in inadequate shape, symmetry, and nipple projection. Our team has developed an allogeneic acellular graft for NAC reconstruction (dcl-NAC) designed to be easy to engraft, lasting, and aesthetically pleasing. Here, dcl-NAC safety and host-mediated re-cellularization was assessed in a 6-week study in rhesus macaque non-human primates (NHPs). Human-derived dcl-NACs (n = 30) were engrafted on the dorsum of two adult male NHPs with each animal's own nipples as controls (n = 4). Weight, complete blood counts, and metabolites were collected weekly. Grafts were removed at weeks 1, 3, or 6 post-engraftment for histology. The primary analysis evaluated health, re-epithelialization, and re-vascularization. Secondary analysis evaluated re-innervation. Weight, complete blood counts, and metabolites remained mostly within normal ranges. A new epidermal layer was observed to completely cover the dcl-NAC surface at week 6 (13-100% coverage, median 93.3%) with new vasculature comparable to controls at week 3 (p = 0.10). Nerves were identified in 75% of dcl-NACs (n = 9/12) at week 6. link2 These data suggest that dcl-NAC is safe and supports host-mediated re-cellularization.Evidence suggests that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) reorganize neural networks via a transient window of neuroplasticity. While previous findings support an effect of SSRIs on intrinsic functional connectivity, little is known regarding the influence of SSRI-administration on connectivity during sequence motor learning. To investigate this, we administered 20 mg escitalopram or placebo for 1-week to 60 healthy female participants undergoing concurrent functional magnetic resonance imaging and sequence motor training in a double-blind randomized controlled design. We assessed task-modulated functional connectivity with a psycho-physiological interaction (PPI) analysis in the thalamus, putamen, cerebellum, dorsal premotor, primary motor, supplementary motor, and dorsolateral prefrontal cortices. link3 Comparing an implicit sequence learning condition to a control learning condition, we observed decreased connectivity between the thalamus and bilateral motor regions after 7 days of escitalopram intake.
