The VPFP is used to change the inherent method of forming specimens with the same parameters, which provides a new idea for SLM-forming structures; the test provides data and yields a theoretical research basis for forming the specimens process method. We studied the texturing, roughness, and morphology features of ZnO films grown on the R (11¯02)-, M (101¯0)-, A (112¯0)-, and C (0001)-planes of sapphire, as well as their optical and luminescent properties. We showed that the growth conditions, substrate orientation, and the presence of a buffer layer significantly affected the structure and morphology of the growing films, which was reflected in their optical and radiative properties. In particular, films grown on the A- and M- planes of sapphire showed the highest UV radiation brightness values and exhibited stimulated emissions upon pulsed photoexcitation. The dependence of the topography of the film surface on the substrate orientation allowed the formation of a smooth continuous film with pronounced interference properties using the R- and M- planes of sapphire. A change in the crystallographic orientation, as well as a significant enhancement in crystallinity and luminescence, were observed for ZnO films grown on R-plane sapphire substrates with a gold buffer layer as compared to films grown on bare substrates. At the same time, the use of gold facilitates a significant smoothing of the film's surface, retaining its interference properties. The sensitivity of interference and laser properties to changes in the external environment, as well as the ease of fabrication of such structures, create prospects for their application as key elements of optical converters, chemical and biological sensors, and sources of coherent radiation. This article reports an investigation of the combustion of a binary pyrotechnic delay composition (PDC), consisting of zinc powder as fuel and KMnO4 as an oxidising agent, with zinc content ranging from 35 to 70 wt. %. The linear burning rate for delay compositions in the form of pyrotechnic fuses was investigated. Compositions with zinc content between 50 and 70 wt. % yielded burn rates in the range of 13.30-28.05 mm/s. The delay compositions were also tested for their sensitivity to friction and impact, where the compositions showed impact sensitivity in the range from 7.5 to 50 J and were insensitive to friction. Tests in a pressure bomb were carried out to determine the maximum overpressure and pressurisation rate. The thermal properties of the composition were evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (DTA/TG). The morphology of the combustion products was studied by SEM technique, EDS analyses were used to investigate the element distribution of the post-combustion residues, providing an insight into the phenomena taking place during the combustion of the delay compositions.Hydrogels belong to the group of polymers that are more and more often considered as innovative dressing materials. It is important to develop materials showing the most advantageous properties from the application viewpoint wherein in the case of hydrogels, the type and the amount of the crosslinking agent strongly affect their properties. In this work, PVP-based hydrogels containing Aloe vera juice and L-ascorbic acid were obtained via UV-induced polymerization. Next, their surface morphology (via both optical, digital and scanning electron microscope), sorption capacity, tensile strength, and elongation were characterized. Their structure was analyzed via FT-IR spectroscopy wherein their impact on the simulated body liquids was verified via regular pH and temperature measurements of these liquids during hydrogels' incubation. It was demonstrated that as the amount of the crosslinker increased, the polymer structure was more wrinkled. Next, hydrogels showed relatively smooth and only slightly rough surface, which was probably due to the fact that the modifiers filled also the outer pores of the materials. Hydrogels demonstrated buffering properties in all incubation media, wherein during the incubation the release of Aloe vera juice probably took place as evidenced by the decrease in the pH of the incubation media and the disappearance of the absorption band deriving from the polysaccharides included in the composition of this additive. Next, it was proved that as the amount of the crosslinker increased, hydrogels' crosslinking density increased and thus their swelling ratio decreased. Hydrogels obtained using a crosslinking agent with higher average molecular weight showed higher swelling ability than the materials synthesized using crosslinker with lower average molecular weight. Moreover, as the amount of the crosslinking agent increased, the tensile strength of hydrogels as well as their percentage elongation also increased. In this study, ultra-high-speed laser cladding (UHSLC) and traditional low-speed laser cladding (LSLC) were employed to prepare high-quality Inconel625 coatings on 27SiMn substrates. UHSLC has cladding speeds of 30 m/min, which are 15 times faster than those of LSLC, and it produces a much greater cladding efficiency, which is 13.9 times greater than LSLC. The microstructure of the Inconel625 coatings was investigated in detail utilizing field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA). According to the FESEM results, UHSLC Inconel625 coatings have more refined crystals than LSLC Inconel625 coatings. Nevertheless, the EPMA results indicate that the UHSLC Inconel625 coatings exhibit much more severe elemental segregation. Moreover, the hardness, wear and corrosion resistance of Inconel625 coatings are significantly enhanced by increasing the laser cladding speed. Furthermore, the reasons for the differences in microstructure and properties of Inconel625 coatings prepared by UHSLC and LSLC were clarified by finite element simulation. UHSLC technique is, therefore, more suitable for preparing Inconel625 coatings on 27SiMn steel surfaces than LSLC.A quenching technique was used to prepare the chalcogenide system of the Se60-xGe35Ga5Sbx (x = 0, 5, and 10 at. %), which was deposited as thin films onto glass substrates using a thermal evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction patterns were used for structure examination of the fabricated compositions, which exposes the amorphous nature of the deposited samples. Meanwhile, the chemical compositions of the prepared samples were evaluated and calculated via the energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), which was in agreement with the measured compositional element percentages of the prepared samples. Based on the optical reflectance R and transmittance T spectra from the recorded spectrophotometric data ranging from 350 to 2500 nm, the influence of the Sb element on the Se60-xGe35Ga5Sbx thin films' optical properties was studied. The film thickness and the refractive index were calculated via Swanepoel's technique from optical transmittance data. It has been observed that the films' refractive index increases with increasing x value over the spectral range. The refractive index data were used to evaluate the dielectric constants and estimate dispersion parameters Eo and Ed using the Wemple-DiDomenico model. The optical energy gap Egopt was calculated for the tested compositions. The result of the optical absorption analysis shows the presence of allowed direct and indirect transitions. In the aeronautical industry, Al-Cu alloys are used as a structural material in the manufacturing of commercial aircraft due to their high mechanical properties and low density. One of the main issues with these Al-Cu alloy systems is their low corrosion resistance in aggressive substances; as a result, Al-Cu alloys are electrochemically treated by anodizing processes to increase their corrosion resistance. Hard anodizing realized on AA2024 was performed in citric and sulfuric acid solutions for 60 min with constant stirring using current densities 3 and 4.5 A/dm2. buy Muvalaplin After anodizing, a 60 min sealing procedure in water at 95 °C was performed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Vickers microhardness (HV) measurements were used to characterize the microstructure and mechanical properties of the hard anodizing material. Electrochemical corrosion was carried out using cyclic potentiodynamic polarization curves (CPP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in a 3.5 wt. % NaCl solution. The results indicate that the corrosion resistance of Al-Cu alloys in citric acid solutions with a current density 4.5 A/dm2 was the best, with corrosion current densities of 2 × 10-8 and 2 × 10-9 A/cm2. Citric acid-anodized samples had a higher corrosion resistance than un-anodized materials, making citric acid a viable alternative for fabricating hard-anodized Al-Cu alloys. The article contains an analysis of selected aspects of the structure and properties of laser remelting of low carbon steel supported by acoustic vibrations obtained in the research presented in (A Novel Method of Supporting the Laser Welding Process with Mechanical Acoustic Vibrations). Due to the assumptions made in this publication, it was necessary to deepen the analysis of the obtained results. The correlation of such factors on the structure as the frequency of vibrations (50, 100, 1385 Hz), their propagation through the short-lived liquid phase and changes in the structure, chemical composition, and hardness of the characteristic zones of the obtained remelting was considered. The remelting obtained with the participation of resonant acoustic vibrations with a frequency of 1385 Hz was subjected to thermo-mechanical analysis. A characteristic "bandwidth" pattern was revealed in the structure. In the present article, a thermo-mechanical analysis of the cause of its formation was carried out by comparing it with the remelting obtained at lower frequencies. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the band structure was characterized by 7 to 8 areas up to approximately a 90 µm depth, which showed dark and light zones. These areas differed in carbon content, hardness, and width. The analysis of vibration propagation helped to determine that in the time of crystallization of the molten metal pool, the transition of the vibration wave lasted through 7-8 minima and maxima. This fact allows us to assume with a high probability that it is the result of the applied resonance frequency.Residual stress has a three-dimensional scale effect (length, depth, and width) in the process of repair welding, which has a detrimental impact on the service of the aluminum alloy welded structures in high-speed trains. This paper aims to systematically analyze the effects of the repair welding dimension on the residual stress redistribution and obtain the optimal repair welding principles. A combination of blind-hole drilling method and stress linearization in BS7910 was adopted to investigate residual stress redistribution under various repair welding dimensions. The results indicate that repair welding dimension was in accordance with the principle of "SNL (shallow, narrow and long)" and the optimal repair length, depth, and width of butt joints in this study were 15t, 0.25t, and t, respectively (t is the plate thickness of butt joints).
