1 and 0.5 μg L-1). Despite chemical investigations suggested low AS bioaccumulation capability, cellular and molecular analyses highlighted the disruption of several key cellular processes after the prolonged exposures to the high AS concentration. Among them, potential immunotoxicity and changes in transcriptional regulation of pathways involved in energy metabolism, stress response, apoptosis and cell death regulations have been observed. Conversely, exposure to the low AS concentration demonstrated weak transcriptional changes and transient increased representation of opportunistic pathogens, as Arcobacter genus and Vibrio aestuarianus. Summarizing, this study provides the first overview on the effects of AS on one of the most widely farmed mollusk species.Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are widely present in human blood, and have many toxic effects on humans. However, effects of PFAA exposure on the risk of rheumatic immune diseases are limited. In the present study, occurrence of 7 PFAAs, including perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoate (PFNA), perfluorodecanoate (PFDA), perfluoroundecanoate (PFUnA), perfluorododecanoate (PFDoA), and perfluorotrdecanoate (PFTrA), were measured in serum samples from 156 healthy people (controls) and 156 rheumatoid arthritis (RA) cases living in Hangzhou, China. We also investigated the relationships among cumulative PFAA levels in serum, some immune markers, and the incidence of RA. The results showed that PFOA (6.1 and 11.8 ng/mL) had the highest mean serum concentrations, followed by PFOS (3.2 and 3.4 ng/mL) and PFDA (0.86 and 2.6 ng/mL), in both controls and RA cases. Cumulative exposure to PFOA in the study population were positively correlated with the levels of rheumatoid factors (rs = 0.69, p less then 0.01) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (rs = 0.56, p less then 0.05). Moreover, significant associations of PFOA concentrations with odds ratios (OR) of RA (OR = 1.998, confidence interval (CI) 1.623, 2.361, p = 0.01) were found by adjusting for various covariates. The crude and adjusted OR for RA was respective 1.385 (95% CI 1.270, 1.510, p = 0.04) and 1.381 (95% CI 0.972, 1.658, p = 0.06) for a unit increase in serum PFOS levels, but the adjusted results were not significant. Overall, this case-control study found that human serum PFOA concentrations were positively correlated with RF and ACPA levels.Ethalfluralin, a dinitroaniline-type herbicide, has been used for decades. As a result, its residues are detected on some farmlands. To determine the molecular mechanisms underlying the detrimental effects of ethalfluralin on early pregnancy, porcine luminal epithelium and trophectoderm cell lines were used. Ethalfluralin was found to inhibit the viability, proliferation, and migration of porcine luminal epithelial (pLE) and porcine trophectoderm (pTr) cells. Additionally, ethalfluralin induced apoptotic cell death by means of an imbalance in calcium homeostasis in both pLE and pTr cells. Ethalfluralin decreased mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) and impaired mitochondrial respiration by downregulating the mitochondrial respiratory complex-related genes. Ethalfluralin also activated endoplasmic reticulum stress signals and autophagy pathways, increased the phosphorylation of P38 MAPK and NF-κB, and suppressed the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Taken together, this study elucidated the molecular mechanisms by which ethalfluralin impedes the viability and mitochondrial function in fetal trophectoderm and maternal endometrial cells during early pregnancy.Atmospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is an important reactive gas pollutant harmful to human health. buy INCB054329 The spatiotemporal coverage provided by traditional NO2 monitoring methods is insufficient, especially in the suburban and rural areas of north China, which have a high population density and experience severe air pollution. In this study, we implemented a spatiotemporal neural network (STNN) model to estimate surface NO2 from multiple sources of information, which included satellite and in situ measurements as well as meteorological and geographical data. The STNN predicted NO2 with high accuracy, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.89 and a root mean squared error of 5.8 μg/m3 for sample-based 10-fold cross-validation. Based on the surface NO2 concentration determined by the STNN, we analyzed the spatial distribution and temporal trends of NO2 pollution in north China. We found substantial drops in surface NO2 concentrations ranging between 9.1% and 33.2% for large cities during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown when compared to those in 2019. Moreover, we estimated the all-cause deaths attributed to NO2 exposure at a high spatial resolution of about 1 km, with totals of 6082, 4200, and 18,210 for Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei Provinces in 2020, respectively. We observed remarkable regional differences in the health impacts due to NO2 among urban, suburban, and rural areas. Generally, the STNN model could incorporate spatiotemporal neighboring information and infer surface NO2 concentration with full coverage and high accuracy. Compared with machine learning regression techniques, STNN can effectively avoid model overfitting and simultaneously consider both spatial and temporal correlations of input variables using deep convolutional networks with residual blocks. The use of the proposed STNN model, as well as the surface NO2 dataset, can benefit air quality monitoring, forecasting, and health burden assessments.Clothes may contain a large range of chemical additives and other toxic substances, which may eventually pose a significant risk to human health. Since they are associated with pigments, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) may be especially relevant. On the other hand, infants are very sensitive to chemical exposure and they may wear some contact and colored textiles for a prolonged time. Consequently, a specific human health risk assessment is required. This preliminary study was aimed at analyzing the concentrations of PCBs in ten bodysuits purchased in on-line stores and local retailers. The concentrations of 12 dioxin-like and 8 non-dioxin-like PCB congeners were determined by gas chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry, with detection limits ranging between 0.01 and 0.13 pg/g. The dermal absorption to PCBs of children at different ages (6 months, 1 year and 3 years old) was estimated, and the non-cancer and cancer risks were evaluated. Total levels of PCBs ranged from 74.2 to 412 pg/g, with a mean TEQ concentration of 13.4 pg WHO-TEQ/kg. Bodysuits made of organic cotton presented a total mean PCB concentration substantially lower than clothes made of regular cotton (11.0 vs. 15.8 pg WHO-TEQ/kg). The dermal absorption to PCBs for infants was calculated in around 3·10-5 pg WHO-TEQ/kg·day, regardless the age. This value is > 10,000-fold lower than the dietary intake of PCBs, either through breastfeeding or food consumption. Furthermore, this exposure value would not pose any health risks for the infants wearing those bodysuits. Anyhow, as it is a very preliminary study, this should be confirmed by analyzing larger sets of textile samples. Further investigations should be also focused on the co-occurrence of PCBs and other toxic chemicals (i.e., formaldehyde, bisphenols and aromatic amines) in infant clothes.HDL-cholesterol is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, and is used in clinical practice for risk stratification. HDL is composed of many protein-defined subspecies that each comprises just a few percent of the total, some associated with lower and some with higher risk of CVD. HDL that contains apoC3 or apoE are subspecies that have opposing actions on HDL reverse cholesterol transport and opposing associations with risk of future CVD, apoC3 adverse and apoE beneficial. In addition to coronary heart disease, HDL that contains apoC3 is associated with risk of future type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance; ischemic stroke and cerebral infarction; dementia and the deposition of beta-amyloid in the brain. HDL that contains apoE and apoE itself are associated with lower risk of dementia. Other HDL subspecies that contain complement C3, alpha-2 macroglobulin, plasminogen, or haptoglobin are associated with higher future risk of coronary heart disease, whereas others such as HDL that contains apoC1 are associated with lower risk. At this time, these findings provide improved understanding of the multifaceted HDL system to better determine risk and targeting of therapy for the most prevalent chronic lifestyle diseases in our society.
To evaluate the operative time for minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy using conventional laparoscopy vs robotic assistance. In addition, we sought to compare intraoperative complications, mesh complications, anatomic prolapse recurrence, and retreatment.

Retrospective cohort study.

Academic hospital.

All 142 women who underwent minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019.

We compared operative time between laparoscopic and robotic-assisted sacrocolpopexies.

A total of 142 women were included. Mean age was 61.8 ± 9.6 years and mean body mass index 27.1 ± 4.4 kg/m
. A total of 86 (60.6%) sacrocolpopexies were performed laparoscopically and 56 (39.4%) with robotic assistance. There were no significant differences in baseline demographic variables. A higher proportion of concomitant hysterectomies were performed with robotic assistance as compared with laparoscopic cases (n=42, 73.7% robotic vs n=43, 50.6% laparoscopic; p <.01). Mean operative times were significantly different between robotic and laparoscopic groups (176.3 ± 45.5 minutes and 195.0 ± 45.4 minutes, p = .02). On linear regression, the variables predicting significant change in operative time were robotic assistance, concomitant hysterectomy, age, body mass index, and no resident involvement. There were no differences in intraoperative bladder or bowel injury, anatomic recurrence beyond the hymen, retreatment, or mesh complications (all p >.05).

Contrary to previous research, the use of robotic assistance does not appear to increase operative time for patients undergoing minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy in a large academic practice.

Colorectal cancer is the second cancer-related cause of death in the world. Tumour stage at diagnosis is the principal prognosis factor of survival. However, the participation in the programme is around 50%. The aim of the study was to identify the benefits and barriers perceived by the population when participating in a colorectal cancer screening programme with faecal occult blood test.

We carried out a cases-controls study with 408 participants. We analyzed epidemiological and social variables associated with lifestyle and behavioural factors based in the Health Belief Model. We conducted a descriptive analysis, and identified variables associated to adherence by a logistic regression.

Variables independently associated with the participation in a colorectal cancer screening programme were age (OR 1.06; 95% CI 1.01-1.11), having a stable partner (OR 1.96; 95% CI 1.20-3.18), the level of education (OR 1.59; 95% CI 1.02-2.47) and two of the barriers to participate in the faecal occult blood test screening "you don't know how to do one" (OR=0.
