Nothing matters as long as I get my morning donut and coffee.

Unfortunately, for that to happen, there has to be wheat flour for my donut, which requires a farm, a farmer, planting equipment, harvesting equipment, irrigation equipment, a truck driver to get the wheat to the mills where they pummel it into flour, another trucker to get the wheat flour to the bakery, we'll need a baker and a bakery, cash, a cash register, and someone to perform a finger dance on the cash register's keys, etc.

Then there has to be a clean supply of water which requires pumps, filters, fluoridation stuff, water meters, a central water tank in town, valves, wash basins, and a municipal authority to oversee all of it. etc.

We're going to need a stove, electricity, electric meters, transmission wires, generators, another municipal entity, computers, substations, a fuel source, a transportation network to get the fuel source to the electric company.

We need yeast. Hell, I don't even know what yeast is. Yeast trees? Powdered pig's hooves? WHATEVER! So we need all the people and infrastructure to get that smelly stuff to the bakery.

Sugar. Mmmmm, we need a pure cane sugar plantation, plus all the specific equipment necessary to get it from A to B.

Chocolate frosting... We need a cocoa and chocolate industry.

Coffee beans... all the people and machines associated with that.

Import/export businesses and shipping lines... very important.

All these farmers, bakers, water & electric personnel, plantation owners, truck drivers, fuel drillers and transporters, refiners, etc., need shoes, socks, pants, belts, buckles, grommets, laces, hosiery, deodorant, soap, lipstick, chapstick, various pills and pharmaceuticals.

We need a navy to ensure that the free flow of chocolate, coffee, sugar and yeast travel unimpeded through the world's sea lanes.

So when I say nothing matters as long as I get my donut and coffee in the morning, that's actually saying a lot!
