Level II.The increasing prevalence of cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and dementia with the aging population has led to scrutiny of the efficacy of cognition-oriented treatments (COTs) aiming to maintain functioning, and delay or prevent further cognitive decline. However, little is known regarding the role of individual differences patient-variables (such as depression, self-efficacy, and motivation) in moderating the efficacy of COTs. This systematic review aimed to identify and analyze COT trials which investigated the relationship between differences in these patient-variables and intervention outcomes for older adults across healthy, MCI, and dementia populations. Of the 4854 studies extracted from the systematic search, 14 were included for analysis. While results were mixed across interventions and populations, on balance, greater depression severity predicted poorer cognitive functioning, and improvement in depressive symptom severity may account for at least part of the cognitive benefits seen at post-intervention. These findings were strongest for studies of MCI populations, with there being limited evidence of a relationship for healthy older adults or those with dementia. Overall, this review demonstrates the need for further investigation into the role of individual differences and clinical variables - particularly depression symptom severity - in attenuating COT outcomes through larger sample, high-quality randomized controlled trials.
To describe and analyse the therapeutic relationship integrating the views of children, parents and therapists.

This study employs a qualitative methodology, assuming a discovery-oriented approach which draws from grounded theory. Twelve psychotherapy triads participated, composed of children aged 6-10, their parents and psychotherapists. Semi-structured follow-up interviews were conducted (N=36), including a drawing in the case of the children.

A positive therapeutic relationship with children and parents was viewed as a gradually constructed process, based on a positive emotional encounter between participants. It was facilitated primarily by the therapist's commitment and playful stance, the child and therapist mutual involvement, and the parent's collaboration. These aspects entailed a trustful, validating and caring relationship, that shaped children and parents' motivations towards therapy and facilitated change.

From a multiple-perspective approach, therapy was conceived as a relational experience. The development of positive relationships required different and evolving dispositions from therapy main actors. Therapists' genuine feelings and engagement in therapeutic activity seem central, underlining the importance of addressing relational aspects in child therapy research and training.

We predicted that sexual appeals would facilitate implicit memory for the brand, and we explored whether program-type (sexual or non-sexual) and its associated congruity would impact or moderate recall of the surrounding advertisement among a small sample (n = 52) of exclusively women advertisement viewers. Sexual (versus non-sexual) advertising led to significantly worse implicit memory for the brand logo but better explicit recall for the advertisement scene itself. There was no effect of sexual appeals on explicit brand name recall, and no significant effect on advertisement recall of the program type. There was a significant interaction effect for program type and advertisement type for explicit recall of the advertisement scene, in which program-type moderated sexual advertisement recall. These results suggest that sexual advertising may increase memory for the advertisement at the expense of recalling the brand advertised. Limitations and implications of this study are discussed.
Cancer diagnosis and related treatment can limit young patients' privacy. Their need for private physical and psychological spaces can be impeded by limited freedom, e.g., sharing hospital rooms with others and exposing their body to their parents and doctors.

We conducted a survey among young patients of our center to investigate how their perception of privacy changed after being diagnosed with cancer and their need for hospital dedicated physical spaces and time for patients to enjoy their privacy. A questionnaire with 16 items was developed by the staff involving psychologists and physicians. The relevance of changes before and after the cancer diagnosis was assessed by calculating two scores indicating the situation before and after diagnosis for each answer, as well as a delta score.

Between May and June 2020, the questionnaire was completed by 60 patients aged 16-24 years. The median delta scores describing the changes before and after diagnosis were -8 points for perception of privacy, indicating a significant decrement of the level of privacy perceived. A major issue was the constant presence of parents being perceived as intrusive. Concerning hospital dedicated physical spaces and time for patients to enjoy their privacy, respondents requested dedicated spaces (50% of patients) and opportunities to have private interviews with medical personnel (88%).

Our study offers a snapshot of how young people with cancer perceive the impact of the disease and its treatment on their privacy with the restrictions imposed on their individual freedom. Patients' personal needs must be taken into consideration to adopt appropriate measures and better organize wards.

In two studies (total N = 908), we examined the naming effects on people's cognitive (perceived benefit and risk), affective (negative and positive affect), and behavioral responses (behavioral intention) to and trust in these vehicles in the Chinese context. Study 1 considered four names (intelligent, automated, autonomous, and driverless vehicles). Study 2 presented an identical description of vehicles with full automation and considered their five names (fully intelligent, fully automated, fully autonomous, fully driverless, and driverless vehicles). Further, AuNP-BLG conjugate interactions with anticancer drugs were characterized using dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, UV-visible, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence, circular dichroism along with molecular dynamics simulation. The cytotoxicity studies were performed using breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7). ∼8 µM of BLG resides on AuNP (∼29 nm) surface revealed by DLS. Raman scattering of AuNP-BLG conjugate showed orientation of the central calyx of BLG towards solvent. BLG fluorescence confirmed the interaction between AuNP-BLG conjugate with drugs and indicated strong binding and affinity (for CUR KD = 3.71 x 108 M -1, n = 1.83, and for GEM KD = 3.78 x 103 M -1, n = 0.94), enhanced in the presence of AuNP. CD and Raman analysis exhibited selective hydrophilic and hydrophobic conformations induced by drug binding. Computational studies on BLG-drug complexes revealed that the residues Pro38, Leu39 and Met107 are largely associated with CUR binding, while GEM interaction is via hydrophilic contacts which significantly matches with spectroscopic investigation. IC50 values were calculated for all components of this loading system on MCF-7. The possible mechanisms of interaction between AuNP-BLG with anticancer drugs has been explored at the molecular level. Sarma.As cochlear implant (CI) candidacy has expanded, commercial payers in the United States have varied in their adoption of new indications, potentially confusing providers' knowledge about appropriate patients for referral. We reviewed how third-party payers classify the medical necessity of cochlear implants for a variety of indications across the lifespan.We compared policies of the six largest commercial payers in our region, focusing on clinical scenarios for which many centers experience difficulty obtaining pre-authorization. These include (1) CI in children under 12 months, (2) audiometric and speech perception criteria in children, (3) sequential bilateral CI, (4) electro-acoustic stimulation, (5) impending cochlear ossification, and (6) single-sided deafness (SSD).Of the more notable findings for the clinical scenarios half of commercial payers have a pediatric age requirement of greater than 12 months. Generally, audiologic and speech perception criteria are more stringent for children than adults across all policies. SSD is considered investigational by most policies.Third-party payers employ variable criteria regarding the medical necessity of CI, many of which are not contemporaneous with clinical knowledge and best practices. This may impact referral patterns among audiologists. link3 More methodologically rigorous clinical trials may help shift such restrictive policies to benefit a greater number of patients.
In Australia, midwives care closely for women during pregnancy and birth and the immediate postnatal period. This scoping review aimed to explore the experiences of female maternity healthcare professionals when they return to work following a personal pregnancy loss or neonatal death.
A scoping review was carried out on published and unpublished research and grey literature looking at how maternity healthcare professionals who have had a personal perinatal loss experience working in a maternity setting following the loss. A search of the literature was performed between October and December 2018, with no set limitations. A search for relevant references from included papers was also carried out. The literature was analysed thematically. The types of perinatal loss were defined as per Australian guidelines.

10 articles were included in this scoping review. Four themes emerged from the literature and these were 1) Impact of being asked, "have you got children?"; 2) Impact on professional practice; 3) Impact of pre-existing professional knowledge; 4) Importance of collegial support on return to work.
