Four studies revealed that both men and women hold perpetrators of gender discrimination less accountable if their behavior is attributed to implicit rather than explicit bias. Moreover, women held male (Studies 1-3), but not female (Study 4), perpetrators of gender discrimination more accountable than did men. Many otolaryngology departments increased use of telemedicine technologies to avoid the need for in-person contact. Medical student incorporation into telemedicine clinics is important to increase their comfort with this format of patient care and to continue student exposure to the field of otolaryngology. The technical and logistical aspects of student inclusion in telemedicine clinics at our institution are detailed. While telemedicine is still an evolving tool for experienced practitioners, there are likely advantages to the use of telemedicine patient visits for student learning. These may include closer working relationships between student and preceptor, as well as increased opportunities for student observation and feedback. Medical students should not assume telemedicine experiences are of inferior educational quality to in-person patient interactions. Future research should investigate ways telemedicine could enhance student learning.
Food insecurity, an issue also affecting developed countries, is associated with different negative outcomes. Particularly in pregnant women, a vulnerable population group, it has a double burden, as it affects both the woman and her child. Food insecurity has been associated with low birth weight and shorter gestational age, but there is less evidence on the association with fetal structural anomalies.

To fill this gap, a study will be conducted to examine if pregnant women in a condition of food insecurity have a higher risk for fetal structural anomalies.

A case-control study will be conducted in three centers. Cases will be pregnant women (>18 years old) diagnosed with a fetal structural anomaly during the prenatal ultrasound examination of the II-III trimester, while controls will be pregnant women (>18 years old) with a negative result for fetal structural anomaly at the II-III trimester prenatal ultrasound examination. The exposure of interest will be food insecurity during the last 12 months, measured using the validated Household Food Insecurity Access Scale. A dedicated questionnaire will be given to women after they sign the informed consent form.

The physiology-in particular, cardiovascular function-of giraffes has therefore captivated the interest of physiologists for centuries. Several studies document high mean arterial blood pressure of giraffes of about 200 mm Hg. This appears necessary to establish a cerebral perfusion pressure on the order of 100 mm Hg at the cranial end of the carotid arteries. Here, we discuss the unique characteristics of blood vessels, the heart, and the kidney of giraffes and how these functional and structural adaptations are related to very high blood pressure. We also discuss how the cerebral circulation of giraffes is established and what we know about how the blood flow and arterial and venous pressures in giraffes change when they stop to drink and subsequently lift their heads 5-6 m in one sweeping movement.
