Genetic testing is an integral component in the workup of male infertility as genetic conditions may be responsible for up to 15% of all cases. Currently, three genetic tests are commonly performed and recommended by major urologic associations karyotype analysis (KA), Y-chromosome microdeletion testing, and CFTR mutation testing. Despite widespread adoption of these tests, an etiology for infertility remains elusive in up to 80% of cases. Recent work has identified intriguing new targets for genetic testing which may soon see clinical relevance. This review will discuss the indications and techniques for currently offered genetic tests and briefly explore ongoing research directions within this field.Indwelling urethral catheter placement is a common and comparatively safe procedure. Misplacement of a urethral catheter into the upper urinary tract is unusual, and only a few cases have been reported. We describe the case of a 43-year-old man who presented with oliguria and had a history of chemotherapy for known metastatic lung cancer. As he had no history of urological disease, urethral catheterization was expected to be uneventful. The catheter was unable to be pulled back to the bladder neck once the balloon was inflated, and the patient expressed discomfort. Subsequent computed tomography revealed that the tip of the catheter was placed in the middle of the right ureter. 3,4-Dichlorophenyl isothiocyanate solubility dmso Unbeknownst to the physicians before urethral catheterization, the patient had severe lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary bladder dysfunction with hydronephrosis, likely due to chemotherapy. Based on the patient's symptoms and imaging results, we judged the possibility of severe ureteral injury to be low. The malpositioned catheter was removed uneventfully after complete balloon deflation and then reinserted properly. He was admitted to the medical department but died as a result of an exacerbation of the underlying disease unrelated to the incident. If urethral catheter placement seems abnormal, physicians should aspirate and irrigate to confirm correct positioning before balloon inflation; then, they should carefully pull the inflated balloon near the neck of the bladder while monitoring the patient's symptoms. Although urethral catheter placement is comparatively safe, physicians must keep in mind that patients who have undergone chemotherapy might be at a risk for this rare complication.Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is one of the most common forms of soft tissue sarcoma with approximately 2,500 cases per year in the United States. The symptoms LMS vary depending upon the location, size, and spread of the tumor. In early stages, it may not be associated with any obvious symptoms so diagnosis and treatment may be delayed. In some cases, it can grow quickly and behave aggressively. Most types of LMS occur in the abdomen or in the uterus; although, scrotal LMS can be a very rare presentation of the disease. Here we present our case of a large, ulcerated scrotal LMS originating from subcutaneous tissue but not invading spermatic cord or tunica. Radical orchiectomy with high ligation of spermatic cord was performed, and patient had an uneventful postoperative course. This disease entity remains rare in the literature, and warrants larger studies in order to better understand treatment and oncologic outcomes. When LMS is identified early and is removed by surgical excision, prognosis can be good and full recovery quite likely. When LMS is already large or has spread to other parts of the body, treatment is relatively more complex and the prognosis poor. Hence, prompt diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary LMS require prompt attention, referral to tertiary, referral center should be strongly considered.
The aim of this study is to elucidate the risk of urologic cancers in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).
Electronic databases including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science, and manual retrieval were conducted from inception to June 2020. Two reviewers independently searched the above databases and selected the studies using prespecified standardized criteria. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to assess the risk of bias in the included studies, and this meta-analysis was completed by STATA version 14.2.
A total of 12 cohort studies and 4 case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. Overall, patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) were at significantly increased risk of renal cancer (RCa) [standardized incidence ratio (SIR) 1.53; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.25-1.80; I
=42.4%], but not at increased risk of prostate cancer (PCa), bladder cancer (BCa) and male genital cancer. In the subgroup analysis, CD patients had a significantly hhat IBD patients with special reference to CD patients increase the risk of RCa. Besides, IBD patients in Asian countries have significantly increased risk of PCa, especially for UC patients. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the potential mechanism of RCa associated with IBD and the differences of the risk of urinary cancers between Eastern and Western countries.
The efficacy and safety of pazopanib in patients diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) have been demonstrated by a Chinese subgroup analysis of the COMPARZ (Pazopanib Versus Sunitinib in the Treatment of Locally Advanced and/or Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma) trial. However, the real-world data are still unknown. This single-center, retrospective study was designed to verify the real-world effects of pazopanib in Chinese patients with mRCC.
Patients with mRCC and a clinical decision to initiate pazopanib as first-line therapy were eligible. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), with overall survival (OS), objective response rate (ORR), and safety being evaluated as secondary endpoints. The effectiveness according to the International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium (IMDC) risk model, number of risk factors in the intermediate risk group, age, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS), and the number and site of organ metastas showed efficacy and safety in real-world Chinese mRCC patients.

Three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction technology is widely used in surgical operations for its intuitive visualization. Pyeloplasty requiresprecise cutting and suturing. The reconstruction technology can accurately determine the location and scope of the stenosis at the junction of the renal pelvis and ureter and the relationship with the surrounding vasculature. The purpose of this article is to retrospective evaluate the application value of image reconstruction technology in pyeloplasty based on high-resolution 3D CT images.
A total of 20 patients with renal pelvic ureteral junction obstruction admitted to our hospital from August 2019 to August 2020 were selected. In this group, left pyeloplasty was performed in 8 patients and right pyeloplasty in 12 patients. In terms of conditions, there was 1 case with secondary pyeloplasty, 6 cases of patients with kidney stones, 2 cases with renal ectopic blood vessels, 1 case with renal prolapse, 1 case with horseshoe kidney, and 1 case with ureteral polyp ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO), which simplifies the operation process and shortens the operation time, and is a valuable tool for auxiliary surgeons in devising the operation plan.

Prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) is a common male urinary system cancer globally with a poor prognosis. Our research aims to explore the role of LncRNA in the occurrence and prognosis of prostate cancer and its underlying mechanism.
The biomaRt package screened for the differentially expressed lncRNA. The survival package was used to identify lncRNAs related to prognosis. The survminer package completed the Kaplan-Meier survival curves. WGCNA (Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis) screened for the co-expressed genes. The ClusterProfiler package implemented the analysis results of GO (gene ontology) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes).
We performed differential expression analysis on the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) database to determine the association between LncRNA and Prostate cancer. The data of 500 Prostate cancer patients were tested. 6 LncRNAs (AC245884.1, LINC01524, AL807752.4, AP000844.2, AC016590.1, LINC00641) were selected as independent prognostic factors using statistical analysis methods, and their value was tested through multivariate COX analysis and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Through the study of co-expressed genes, the biological processes of these lncRNA enrichment are the perception and conduction of smell and taste. The specific carcinogenic and cancer-promoting mechanisms need further study.
This study shows that lncRNA has a certain predictive effect on prostate cancer occurrence and prognosis and can be a new biomarker for prostate cancer survival and potential treatment targets.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are essential regulators for various human cancers. However, these lncRNAs need to be further classified for cancer. In the present study, we identified novel competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network for bladder cancer (BC) and explored the gene functions of the ceRNA regulatory network.
Differential gene expression analysis were performed on The Cancer Genome Atlas Urothelial Bladder Carcinoma (TCGA-BLCA) datasets to identify differentially expressed messenger RNAs (mRNAs), lncRNAs, and microRNAs (miRNAs). Based on the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) hypothesis, a lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network was constructed using the StarBase database and visualization by Cytoscape software. Functional enrichment analyses of Gene Ontology and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway were performed via R package ClusterProfiler. The protein-protein interaction network was constructed by STRING database and visualization by Cytoscape. Finally, we used CIBERSORT and the TIMER aling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, the Rap1 signaling pathway, signaling pathways regulating the pluripotency of stem cells, and the transforming growth factor-β signaling pathway. Our findings demonstrated that the ceRNA network has important biological functions and a significant influence on the prognosis of BC.
The lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network constructed in the present study could provide useful insight into the underlying tumorigenesis of BC, and can determine new molecular biomarkers for the diagnosis and therapeutical treatment of BC.
