Higher habitual moderate-to-vigorous exercising is owned by greater exec operate and higher prefrontal oxygenation within older adults.
Most of the patients with NYHA class III-IV were housewives. The severity of heart disease was also influenced by severe preeclampsia (p less then 0.05) as a risk factor. Maternal outcome with heart disease of severity NYHA class III-IV was worse than with NYHA class I-II. The risk of maternal death was higher, and the mother's length of stay in hospital and her need for monitoring were also increased. There were no significant differences in the outcome of the fetus, but the incidence of fetal mortality increased in patients with heart disease severity III-IV. Conclusion Maternal determinant factors did not correlate with the severity of heart disease in pregnancy. Maternal outcomes were worse with increasing severity of heart disease. Fetal mortality was correlated with severity of heart disease but other outcomes were not affected. Background Screening of early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnosis is the greatest challenge for hepatologists. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is the most common non-invasive biomarker used in HCC diagnosis. Objectives and aims To make a comparison between the new biomarker Golgi protein 73 (GP73) versus the standard biomarker AFP in the diagnosis of HCC. Methods Our study was a case-control study, and 60 patients were included in the study. They were divided into two groups 1) HCC patients with either chronic HBV or HCV infection (n=30); and 2) non-HCC patients with HBV or HCV infection who had either chronic hepatitis or liver cirrhosis (n=30). In addition, 30 healthy volunteers were included as a control group. Patients were subjected to liver function tests, kidney function tests, serum Golgi protein 73 and AFP levels. Imaging diagnosis of HCC was done by computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) based on American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) practice guidd specificity of 86.2% for the discrimination between HCC and non-HCC patients. Conclusion Golgi protein 73 is a promising and accurate biomarker for early detection of HCC.Background Cervical cancer is the fourth most common and fatal tumor among women worldwide. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway was etiologically involved in the cervical cancer model. Herein, we aimed to investigate whether germline genetic variations within the Wnt/β-catenin pathway can be genetic risk factors of cervical cancer. Patients and methods A total of 305 samples (147 patients, 158 controls) were included. Eight genetic variations located in APC (rs454886), GSK3β (rs3755557), CTNNB1 (rs11564475, rs1798802, rs3864004, rs2293303, and rs4135385), and TCF7L2 (rs7903146) were genotyped via Sanger sequencing. The χ 2 test and non-conditional logistic regression were used in the single-locus analysis. Gene-gene interactions and haplotype construction in case-control samples were performed by the GMDR method and Haploview software, respectively. Results The frequency of CTNNB1 rs1798802 GA+AA genotype was significantly lower in cervical cancer patients adjusted for age (OR=0.626, 95% CI=0.398-0.984). The mutant alleles of rs3864004 (A) and rs2293303 (T) located in CTNNB1 showed 1.513 (1.038-2.207), and 1.654 (1.020-2.683) fold increased risk of cervical cancer, respectively. Haplotype analysis showed no association between haplotypes of the CTNNB1 gene and cervical cancer risk. No significant contribution of interactions among genes in the Wnt pathway was identified. Conclusion We concluded that the genetic variants in the CTNNB1 gene might contribute to the development of cervical cancer. Background Although chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus (CKD-aP) remains a frequent and frustrating symptom in patients with advanced kidney diseases, its optimal treatments are not well defined. Based on its mechanism of action, as a histamine-1 (H1), 5-(hydroxytryptamine) HT2, and 5HT3-receptor blocker, mirtazapine may be effective in the treatment of CKD-aP. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the efficacy of mirtazapine for the treatment of pruritus in patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD). Methods A before-after clinical trial was conducted from September 2018 until March 2019, on 30 HD-patients that had been referred to the HD ward of a tertiary hospital, in Hamadan, Iran. After the 2-week washout period, mirtazapine was administered with a dosage of 15 mg/day for an additional 2 weeks. At baseline and at each dialysis session, the effects of the mirtazapine on the pruritus severity based on the visual analogue scale (VAS) and degree of sleep interference resulting from the pruritus were askede management of CKD-aP. However, further studies would be needed to confirm these results. Background In low- and middle-income countries, the burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is rising due to poor access to early detection and management services. In Ethiopia, little is known about the context-specific risk factors and their magnitude, particularly the dietary habit of patients is not studied. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the dietary and other risk factors of CKD in Northeast Ethiopia. Methods We conducted a facility-based unmatched case-control study utilizing quantitative method of data collection. Data were collected on a total of 66 cases and 134 controls using structured questionnaire and anthropometric measurements. Dietary habit was assessed using the Diet History Questionnaire (DHQ). Medical history, patient chart review and physical examination were employed to collect other relevant information. To identify independent predictors of CKD, we conducted a multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results About 54.5% cases and 46.3% of controls were female, while 40.9% of cases and 38.8% of controls were within the age group of 36-55. All cases and 128 (95.5%) controls consumed meat in the last year. Forty-six (69.7%) cases and 74 (55.2%) controls use palm oil as the main cooking oil. History of hypertension (adjusted odds ratio (AOR)=2.39; 95%CI 1.17-4.89), anemia (AOR=2.38; 95%CI 1.04-5.42), palm oil use (AOR=2.10; 95%CI 1.01-4.35) and family history of CKD (AOR=8.77; 95%CI 3.73-20.63) were significantly associated with the risk of having CKD. Conclusion Meat consumption and use of palm oil are higher among patients with CKD than controls. learn more History of hypertension, anemia, family history of CKD and palm oil consumption were found to be risk factors for CKD. Dietary counseling interventions and dietary modifications might help in CKD prevention. Furthermore, routine urinalysis and estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) for all hospitalized patients with hypertension and anemia could help to detect CKD at an earlier stage for a better prognosis.
