The aim of this review and meta-analysis was to determine the effect of exercise-based CR on objectively measured physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) comparing pre- to postintervention, pre- to postchange compared to a control group, and in a longer term follow-up. Methods Five databases were searched (PubMed, MEDLINE [OVID], Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and CINAHL) from inception to January 2019. Two reviewers screened and selected 15 studies involving 1434 participants. Data were synthesized descriptively and by meta-analyses. Results CR resulted in an improvement in activity behaviors compared with preintervention levels (standardized mean difference [SMD] 0.50, 95% CI 0.25-0.55, P less then .0001). CR resulted in a greater improvement in activity behaviors in the intervention compared with the control group (SMD 0.25, 95% CI 0.02-0.49, P = .04). Increased PA was maintained (SMD 0.32, 95% CI 0.22-0.41, P less then .0001). Eight out of 15 studies showed an improvement in PA outcomes while 7 reported that objectively measured PA did not change immediately following the intervention compared to preintervention levels and/or compared with the control group. Of the 7 studies that reported changes in SB, 4 observed a reduction following CR while 3 reported no change. Conclusion Participation in exercise-based CR programs is effective in improving PA and SB. However, our descriptive synthesis indicates that only half the studies were successful in improving activity behaviors following exercise-based CR. Standard guidelines for the assessment of activity behaviors following CR would be valuable in understanding of the effects of CR on long-term activity participation.Background Access to community palliative care 'out-of-hours' - defined as care provided after the normal hours of work - is advocated globally. Healthcare assistants, who provide care under the direction of a qualified professional, are increasingly employed to help deliver such care, yet there is a little understanding regarding their role, responsibilities or contribution. Aim The aim of this study was to identify the roles, responsibilities and contributions of healthcare assistants in out-of-hours community palliative care. Design Scoping review. Data sources Five bibliographic databases (CINAHL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO and Scopus) and grey literature were searched using a predefined search strategy. The review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews statement. Results The search yielded six papers using quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods. Results highlighted a lack of recognition of the role and contribution of healthcare assistants. A concurrent theme was that healthcare assistants continually monitored and responded to patient's and family's physical and emotional needs; there was also self-reported evidence indicating patient and family benefit, such as maintaining a sense of normality and support to remain at home. Discussion This review highlighted a dearth of evidence relating to the healthcare assistant role in out-of-hours palliative care. Limited evidence suggests they play a role, but that it is hidden and undervalued. Such invisibility will have a significant impact on the planning and delivery of out-of-hours palliative care. Future research is needed on role development for the benefit of patients and caregivers.The regularity of the physical world and the biomechanics of the human body movements generate distributions of highly probable states that are internalized by the brain in the course of a lifetime. In Bayesian terms, the brain exploits prior knowledge, especially under conditions when sensory input is unavailable or uncertain, to predictively anticipate the most likely outcome of upcoming stimuli and movements. These internal models, formed during development, yet still malleable in adults, continuously adapt through the learning of novel stimuli and movements. Traditionally, neural beta (β) oscillations are considered essential for maintaining sensorimotor and cognitive representations, and for temporal coding of expectations. However, recent findings show that fluctuations of β band power in the resting state strongly correlate between cortical association regions. The present study investigated the effect of the gender of the politician involved in different kinds of scandals deriving from the transgression of gender role-based expectations and the role of participants' attribution of responsibility (internal vs. external) on their evaluation of the perpetrator. Results showed that participants did not express different evaluations of the female versus male politician when their behavior testified to a lack of qualities stereotypically associated to men and women. But when participants attributed the responsibility of the scandal to the perpetrator, women were punished more severely than their male colleagues. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.Aim To explore the prevalence of anemia in three cohorts of women, namely, married yet to be mothers, married and are mothers, and currently pregnant, to ascertain the patterns in anemia in women. Methods We analyzed a sample of 130,965 married women from four Demographic Health Surveys 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2015. The primary focus for the analysis was married women aged 15 to 49 years. In the absence of a longitudinal data that followed the same women over the periods, a synthetic cohort of the women of that age-group was constructed to get women aged 15 to 64 years over the four surveys. Women who were aged 15 to 19 years in 2000 were the same as those 30 to 34 years in 2015, while those aged 45 to 49 years in 2000 were the same as 60 to 64 years in 2015. Results Logistic regression revealed that young mothers were significantly more infected (p less then .001). Pregnancy affected anemia in the women (p less then .001). Being younger and richer were associated with odds ratios of 0.599 (95% confidence interval, CI [0.560, 0.640]) and 0.765 (95% CI [0.726, 0.807]) for anemia, respectively. Being pregnant had odds ratio of 1.642 (95% CI [1.439, 1.872]) for anemia. Conclusion Public health strategies should target social deprivation at the household level while addressing maternal health issues. An analysis of data on unmarried women and their children is recommended.Home care for elderly people is an important part of the social welfare system. This review explores the scientific literature on organizational interventions that target the home care work environment. Altogether, 16 studies of varying quality met the inclusion criteria. The interventions identified involved organizational change, education and training, digitalization and scheduling. Many interventions were concerned with changing specific behaviors or with introducing new technology rather than tackling complex issues such as sick leave, stress or gender inequality. Employee participation increased the likelihood of success.In this paper, the influence of selected amides on the adsorption of p-nitrophenol was investigated. Commercial granulated activated carbon DARCO was used as an adsorbent. Granulations of 20-40 and 12-20 mps were used in the experiments. The presence of N-benzylbenzamide and N-methylbenzamide in the system lowered the adsorption capacity of p-nitrophenol, while N-methylpropionamide did not show influence on the adsorption capacity. The equilibrium adsorption capacities for p-nitrophenol were 46.8 mg g-1 for the smaller granulation (20-40 mps), and 45.4 mg g-1 for the larger granulation (12-20 mps). The presence of the amide in the system reduced the adsorption capacity of p-nitrophenol to as much as 6.7 mg g-1. Weber-Morris model showed two distinct phases in the adsorption process, and they were attributed to the external (film) and intraparticle diffusion. For the estimation of the adsorption mechanism external mass transfer coefficient and effective intraparticle diffusivity coefficient were obtained. Obtained Biot number values are in the range of 0.
