We conducted a systematic review/meta-analysis to evaluate NIBS efficacy to alleviate pain and improve disability in LBP.

A systematic literature search was performed by a librarian in MEDLINE, Embase, EBM Reviews, CINAHL and Web of Science databases (last search January 14th, 2021). Data were pooled by number of sessions and follow-up periods. Independent reviewers performed screening, data extraction and risk of bias. Pain reduction and disability were used as outcomes.

Twelve articles were included in the qualitative synthesis and eight in the meta-analysis. A single session of NIBS reduced pain compared to sham (standardized mean difference -0.47; P<0.001 | very low-quality evidence). Repeated sessions of NIBS did not impact pain at short-term (mean difference (MD) -0.31; P=0.23) or mid-term (MD -0.56; P=0.33 | moderate quality evidence). Combining NIBS with co-interventions did not influence pain (MD -0.31; P=0.30 | moderate quality evidence). NIBS did not influence disability.

This study aims to comprehensively investigate the changes ofsalivary stress biomarkers, psychological status, and autonomic nervous system (ANS) response due to horticultural activities (HAs).

A prospective observational study was conducted in twenty Japanese healthy adults (mean age, 58.4 years). Flower appreciation, flower arrangement, and farm work experience were performed as three HAs with different working concepts. Five salivary stress biomarkers (cortisol, α-amylase, S-IgA, chromogranin A, and oxytocin) were measured to quantify the stress levels before and after each HA. The Profile of Mood Status 2nd edition (POMS2) was used as a subjective psychological evaluation. Wearable biosensors were used tovisualize the continuous ANS response throughout the process.

In the POMS2 investigation, the negative factors, which included Anger-Hostility, Confusion-Bewilderment, Depression-Dejection, Tension-Anxiety, and Total Mood Disturbance, were significantly decreased (p=0.0135, p=0.0004, p=0.0024, p=0.0015, p=0.0063, respectively). In the measurement of salivary stress biomarkers, flower appreciation decreased cortisol (p=0.0134), and farm work experience not only decreased cortisol but also increased oxytocin (p=0.0041, p=0.0128 respectively). Insulinoma is a rare pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor that can spontaneously produce excess endogenous insulin, resulting in recurrent and serious hypoglycemia. Patients with insulinoma always have intermittent neuroglycopenia, which has been frequently reported as being misdiagnosed as epilepsy. In this report, we analyzed the clinical data of patients with confirmed insulinoma who had ever been misdiagnosed to have epilepsy.

The retrospective review was performed on 266 patients with confirmed insulinoma at the First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital between January 2000 and July 2020.
